Seanie 'Irish' Monaghan is a Long Beach, New York native and runner up to Joe Smith Jr. in the 2009 New York Golden Gloves competition. In the professional ranks, the Light Heavyweight contender battled elite fighters like Marcus Brown, Sullivan Barrera, and Callum Johnson.
Seanie was very successful in the ring, with a pro record of (29-3). He was the former WBC Continental and NABO Light Heavyweight Champion, having won the WBC Continental Americas championship in 2012, which he defended seven times. He also famously portrayed Cassius Clay’s opponent, Henry Cooper, in the film, “One Night in Miami.
Monaghan joined The Bad Promoter to discuss his background as a fighter. He covered topics like his impressive activity, love for fighting growing up, when he felt he was at his best as a fighter, and the politics of boxing among other topics. You won't want to miss this amazing episode where Monaghan gets real about boxing promoters impacting fight schedules and why he no longer has the same love for the sport.
