My guest today is the legendary Rolf Potts. Rolf is the author of Vagabonding: An Uncommon Guide To The Art of Long-Term World Travel. As you all already know from listening to any of the previous episodes, Vagabonding was an incredibly influential and important book for me. There is no other form of content that instilled the same sense of freedom and the desire to travel that Vagabonding did. We cover a wide range of topics in this episode beginning with the ordeal of coming home from a great trip, how to travel while one is not "on the road" in the classical sense, the beauty and sense of freedom poetry engenders, the power of quotes, and more.

I spoke with Dirty Dan (@danielmedly97) on a boozy late night at Above the Clouds hostel. We are 20.6 miles from Springer Mountain, the Southern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail. Packscale (@stevenbressan) made a return as co-host, as well.
We discussed trail finality, transitions, and distinctions between Northern and Southern Appalachia. I read a Fredrick Nieztche quote from Vagabonding and we discussed it to close out.
“Our eyes find it easier on a given occasion to produce a picture already often produced, than to seize upon the divergance and novelty of an impression” - Page 160.

Sometimes the best podcast comes out of no where. That's how I feel about this pod with thru-hikers Clementine and Dirt Fox. I met them at different points during the NOBO flip and have been hiking with them/around them since staring the SOBO flop. We had a forthright and personal podcast in the chapel of Laughing Heart hostel located in Hot Springs, NC. A big thank you to management for giving us the space to record. We talk earnestly about the trail and life. I'm sure your ears will enjoy.
