When I saw another fitness professional weigh themselves daily and post online during what they called a "mini cut," it intrigued me. As someone who has had a love/hate relationship with their weight for over a decade, I challenged the idea that I could do this and actually be comfortable with it. I also wanted to do this to see if it was a realistic idea for some of my clients who have voiced the desire to lose body fat.

I took to the scales almost daily (vacations and rushed mornings got missed) and was blown away by the changes I saw not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

When I decided to become a certified personal trainer back in 2019, it was because I saw a big part of the population not being served by the fitness industry. Once I started my online business in 2020, I knew that I wanted to do it my way and not fall in line like all of the other online trainers. But with that being said, I know that there are some gaps in my knowledge and even coaches need coaches. So when I decided to sign up for a consultation call with a company that I thought aligned with my values and vision, I was more than happy to commit to the 90 minutes. However, it was AFTER those 90 minutes in a follow up call that things took a turn, and I was reminded of exactly why I created my business.

So yes, despite them telling me that they guaranteed that I would make $15k more than what I already make, I said no. Listen in and find out why...

Do you ever wish you could just put the shorts or bikini on and wear it with the confidence of a super model? Girl, you are NOT alone. Social media tells us to just put it on and walk out the door, we will be just fine. But the forget to mention that showing more skin IS scary. You will not just slide on a pair of cute denim shorts and walk out the door, using your driveway as a runway. Listen in for my tips on how to go from buying the shorts, to putting them on and finally to get out the door in them.

Who doesn't want to maximize their workouts each and every time? Most women do a great job at getting their cardio or lifting in. But when it comes to warming up and cooling down properly, I've noticed that most rush or totally skip them. In order to get the most out of your fitness program, you need to devote time and intention to warm ups and cool downs. Today's episode dives deeper into these two phases of your workout.

In today's episode, I go a little bit more in depth on a recent Instagram post I made. You can find the post here. The longer I work in the fitness industry, the more I am made aware of just how much work it has to do in order to truly inspire and encourage bodies to move. I go over not just how fitness equipment fails bigger bodies, but how training for fitness professionals is inadequate. You don't want to miss this episode!

My business coach asked me during one of our conversations if I felt I truly aligned with the body positive community or not. Great question! One that I still have not answered. But truth be told, it is not black and white. There are a lot of great things happen within this movement... and some that I just do not agree with it. Tune in as I discuss my own personal experiences and why I feel the way I do.

This episode starts with a funny story that only cements my obsession with needing to find the best see-through leggings out there. If you haven't already, go listen to episode 24 where I talk all about my search to find plus size leggings.

Okay, but the real topic today is how you can continue to prioritize your health in these unknown times. Gas prices are soaring which is also making food prices increase. It's not uncommon for many wives and moms to stop buying essential items for their health when finances are thrown out of balance. While that is a reasonable approach, and one I have taken myself in the past, it is not the best for our health. Today I talk about some ways that you can still prioritize nutrient dense foods and movement for a little less. May not be ideal, but something is always better than nothing.

If you follow me over on Instagram (@tiffstartsliving), you might have caught my recent review of several brands of leggings. Living in an active plus size body means I need fitness wear that is functional and actually fits a plus size body. What I am finding out is that many companies promote themselves as "size inclusive" but they actually don't have the product to back it up. If you are in search of the perfect plus size leggings too, listen in!

As wives, mothers and professionals, we tend to think that we can wait until this busy season of life is over before prioritizing our own health. Unfortunately, we don't actually have time to wait. Kids are at home for 18+ years, careers last 30+ years.... that's decades of practicing poor health habits that you are going to have to "undo." Before you know it, you'll be in your 50's and 60's trying to get healthy but you're spending more and more time at the doctor because you've got lifestyle diseases/illnesses to manage. No Sis, you don't actually have time to wait.

I offer some great tips at the end if you're a mother and also some nutritional food hacks that I use because (spoiler alert) I hate meal prepping!

Want to know what's holding you back in your health and wellness journey? The All-or-Nothing mindset! I see so many professionals and influencers telling women that their way is the only or best way to life and that's simply not true. Often times, we need to take a little of this and a little of that to create an approach that works for our bodies and lifestyles. Today's episode will give you that little boost of motivation you need to keep your happiness and enjoyment a priority along the way.

Most of you are welcoming 2022 with a fresh new perspective. This usually means you have set new goals/resolutions. Today I go over common mistakes women make and how to better approach these goals.

I also do a quick recap of my experience with Robin Arzon's #3for31 challenge. I encourage you to hang around for that at the end of the episode to hear what it taught me throughout December.

It is time that we stop thinking that "being disciplined" is the same as enforcing punishment on ourselves. Especially when it comes to fitness and nutrition habits. We often see women bragging about how disciplined they are because they stuck to a very strict and unenjoyable diet throughout the holidays. They are using food as a form of punishment for their bodies not looking/feeling like they expect it to. That is not how I view discipline or how I want you to view discipline as you head out on your health journey. Tune in to today's episode to hear me break it down realistically and explain why discipline (not punishment) is your key to longterm success.
