In Justice is a limited podcast series hosted and produced by Lisa Spees and Spencer Daniels in association with Death By Incarceration. Now available on your favorite pod-catcher. In episode four, The The Prosecutor & The Trial, Spencer & Lisa discuss the prosecutor, Assistant District Attorney Roger King. King was known to do whatever it took to get a confession. Sometimes, what it took was suppressing evidence and fabricating wild stories. King was proud of 16 death penalty convictions on top of countless other courtroom victories. To date, seven of King's convictions have been overturned with many more under increased scrutiny. King secured guilty verdicts for Emmanuel Rios and Angel Rodriguez despite having zero physical evidence tying them to the crime. He also had knowledge of a taped confession that could have exonerated them both. Listen for yourself and determine whether the pieces fit together to make a compelling case against Rios and Rodriguez or if you think they were wrongfully convicted. If you haven’t yet listened to episodes one, two, or three be sure and get caught up. And if you haven’t checked out our bonus episode - Charles Peruto you can still go back and hear the complete story of the missing tape & its journey. Big thank you to Death by Incarceration for letting this sample drop hijack the feed! Crawlspace Media is proud to welcome the newest member of the CSM community, BIGGER FISH TO FRY!! The following audio is an intro by the creator, Carolyn Mason, an eight minute sample episode, and a trailer for you to enjoy! Produced and hosted by Carolyn Mason, Bigger Fish To Fry is a limited podcast series with three episodes focusing on the food history of enslaved people, the nutrition of enslaved people, and the legacy that slavery, health, and diet have on modern populations. Carolyn's project illuminates the connection between these subjects by answering the following question: How did the foodways of enslaved people, including their diet and nutrition, affect their health? For American black people, the history of our ancestors is often limited to the struggles and suffering that they endured. This podcast is meant to bridge the gap between academic research and non-collegiate audiences, who deserve to understand the lives of their ancestors. By doing so as a country, we can begin to correct the legacies of slavery and racism. If you like what you hear in this sample, please listen to all three episodes - 1. ENSLAVED FOODWAYS 2. This is the extended trailer to Death By Incarceration. Death By Incarceration is a show about life behind bars. The USA is the only nation where a minor can be sentenced to die by incarceration before turning 18. A minor can’t vote, can’t serve in the military, can’t drink or smoke, but they CAN go to prison for the rest of their lives. Each week, premiering in June of 2021, hosts David "Suave" Gonzalez (Suave podcast/released lifer) and Kevin McCracken (Adulting Well podcast) will be joined by law-makers, community leaders, policy-makers, formerly incarcerated and the currently incarcerated as they shed light on institutions that viciously target and harm marginalized communities, specifically communities of color.
