Ever wanted to know what today's children really learn in school? Join the pupils and staff at St. Gregory's Primary School in Ealing, West London, as they share poetry, reveal their favourite subjects, and discuss what they have learnt and remembered in their recent studies. Each episode is led by a different team of fantastic pupil hosts, supported by the teachers, and aims to give a unique insight into learning - from the perspective of the children of St. Gregory's - as they share their exciting school curriculum with their community...and beyond!

Julia S. in 4AS reads an excerpt of a poem by the famous Ukrainian poet and painter, Taras Shevchenko. He was sent to exile in Siberia by Tsar Nicholas I for refusing to stop writing in Ukrainian. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Saint Gregory's are with the brave people of Ukraine.

It is with deep sadness that we bid farewell to Mr. Keith Richardson who was employed as St. Gregory’s Site Manager from 2012 to 2022. Mr. Richardson passed away on 8th January this year. Mr. Richardson took great pride in his previous army career and had many stories to share – pupils and staff enjoyed listening to recounts of those former days. Conversations frequently ended with Tennyson’s famous lines “ Theirs not to make reply, theirs not to reason why , theirs but to do and die”. This pupil recording of ‘The Charge of the Light Brigade’ is our tribute to Mr. Richardson – our friend and colleague - who remains in our thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace.

Read by Giuliana F. in year 4. This poem was written by a year 5 class in 2016. Each pupil contributed with one line to this collective poem. Lucy Riley (Mrs Riley) was there as well making sure that each child felt that whenever they put their hand up someone would come and help them find the words, the numbers, the pencil but most importantly the kind words of encouragement that they knew Mrs Riley would bring to them. All of us, staff and children, who were fortunate enough to share a classroom with Lucy Riley, know that she will always be part of Saint Gregory's and that she continues to inspire us every day.
