God seeks His own glory in the fruitfulness of His people. Joy is one of the essential fruits of the Christian life.

The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost. We must be careful not to dehumanize the sinner in our life or believe that we are deserving God's grace.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a treasure worth the cost of everything else in
our lives. It is a treasure which brings joy and a treasure we display for others.

We must be persistent in taking our prayers to the Righteous Judge, trusting in His character and promises. The faithful will remain steady in Christ and Christ alone and will find hope and dependence on God in prayer.

The only way that we are made righteous is through Christ's righteousness. We must be continuously undone in the light of God’s mercy and grace towards us.

God's love and mercy towards us should lead us to acts of love and mercy towards others. All people who God puts in our path are neighbors we must love.

A focus on what you don't have will always distort your view of what you do have. We all have time, talents, and opportunities that the Lord has given us that we need to steward well.

As we look at the Parable of the Sower we respond in two ways. First, we must evaluate our heart and see what kind of hearers we have proven to be, then as Christians, we need to faithfully accept our call to sow.

God disciplines those He loves, and a disciplined life is a fruitful life. Therefore, we must live with a love of discipline.

If you want a good life, you need gospel perspective, focus, and joy. Enjoyment begins with God, it is more about contentment than content, and includes labor.

In a world of beauty and horrors, Christ is calling us to be a people of sober joy. Christ is calling us to imitate Him and His Apostles and saints throughout the church age in being people who grieve the sin of this world, who run towards the sufferings of others, who lay down our comforts, our parties, and our privileges for the advance of the Gospel and the ingathering of the elect!

The heart of the Christian Gospel is that Jesus Christ – the eternal Son of the only God – lived, died, and was raised from the dead so that He could save His people from the power of Sin and Death!

Earthly gain will never wholly satisfy nor last beyond the grave. Wealth is a gift to be stewarded for God’s glory, from whom our lasting satisfaction comes.

In the Kingdom of God, all authority is given that we might better serve God and others. In Christ, we are called to submit ourselves to one another, honoring every authority and using all authority to build others up.

The fundamental posture, not only for marriage but for every Christian relationship, is self-submission. The meaning of marriage is to be a living picture of the self-giving, all-redeeming love of Jesus Christ for His people. Your love for people displays your love for God. In any area we reject to be shaped and ruled by God’s love, including our love for our enemies or persecutors, we are rejecting the Gospel.

God’s people must be a people of reconciliation and forgiveness. And we can reconcile and forgive because in Christ Jesus we have been reconciled to God and are forgiven.

Christ has come to not only call us to holiness, but to make us holy.

The church has been appointed to be Christ’s ambassadors of the Gospel, right here and right now.

A Godward life will love to be generous, because in our generosity, we are pursuing our truest treasure! God’s not asking you to be generous with what He hasn’t given you, He’s calling you to be generous with all that He’s given you.

Real, life changing faith begins and ends with seeing God’s love displayed in Christ! If you want to know how much, how radically, how beyond-anything-you-could-ever-do God has loved you, you need to know Jesus and what He has done for His people.

Jesus came to make us holy. Holiness is being wholly devoted to God. Therefore, if we are in Christ, we must strive to be wholistically holy!

In Christ, the living water which makes all things new is flowing into all of Creation. God has and is keeping His promise! The Church is the expression of that reality in the here and now. Meaning, if we are the people of God, we must be a people from whom living water flows into dry and weary places!

There is no greater joy we can experience this year and no greater purpose you can have in your life than knowing and enjoying God. Prayer is a practice God gifted to His people to help us do this.

There is One King who’s name will stand forever, One God, One Lord, One Savior, and the only hope that you and I can have for life. In the baby in a Manger, we see that before He came in glory, our King came as a servant. Before He came to judge, He came to save. He is a King of love, of grace, and of good news. We can live in unity, humility, generosity, not because we’ve given up hope of our good, but because we’ve found what is most good in Jesus!

Abraham prayed for Sodom because of the righteous. God's people are called to pray for the world knowing that they are in the world as those who are created, love, and called by God!

In this passage, we find God’s precious promise to His people, the requisite signs and realities for their participation in the promise, and the work He performs in order that they are able to fulfill that which He has commanded.

The only way forward, while we await the promise, is to trust in the One whose promise never fails.

Here in Genesis, through the life of Abraham, we are reminded that seeing clearly begins with trusting in the One who is Sovereign over all, and the Christian response to any result in life ought to be one that entrusts all glory and gain to the One who alone is worthy!

In a fearful world, there is an Almighty, all-faithful God who loves His people well. Trust in Him!

Through the story of Noah and the Flood, we see that our cursed hearts are wholly dependent on a gracious and just, covenant keeping God for salvation and deliverance!

From the story of Cain and Abel, we begin to see and understand the reality that in our world, the battle between good and evil is all around us, whether or not we see it! In everythingwe are engaged in a spiritual war. And in a world of devouring darkness, God is bringing life to those who walk with Him!

At Fall, sin came into this world and because of sin the world is broken and dying. But God, in His goodness and grace, has a plan and a promise to make all things new!

Of all creation, God made us special; and only in Christ can we be what we are made to be!

If we want to have a life of true meaning, if we want to have hope, if we want to rightly value every human being, the truth that God is The Creator must be the foundation of our reality.
Jesus came to give us free, true, and pure life! Every person has sexual baggage, sexual addiction, or at the least, is living in a culture where they are constantly called to compromise God’s truth for satan’s lie. There is no place in God’s church for sexual immorality, we must pursue purity.

If we want to be faithful till the end, avoiding or hating evil isn’t enough, we’ve got to love Jesus! In Christ, we becomea people who overcome the world by faith expressed in love. A vibrant, passionate, singular, and victorious love in Christ!

If we want to live a life that loves God most, and loves others well, we must begin with and live by faith. This is where love comes from! This is where obedience comes from! Knowing, and trusting in, and being united with our Savior and Sovereign, Jesus Christ.

The church is called to be a place that lovingly and faithfully seeks the wanderer. In this, we become a church more full of real holiness, long lasting friendship and fruit, and radical testimony to the wonder of God’s grace!

We must be careful to not boast in our plans as if we hold control over the outcome. Instead, we can humbly submit and look to our God who holds control in His hands and know exactly what His children need.

The tongue is wild, but a redeemed tongue joins in singing for more to worship. The tongue is a fire, but a redeemed tongue joins the psalmist in the friction of sanctification.

James challenges believers in this passage to never show partiality. When we do, we break the Kingdom law. From this challenge, we receive this call to become a people of radical, proactive, costly, unprejudiced mercy.

As believers, we must never graduate from the Gospel. We must, everyday, preach to ourselves the Gospel and reminder ourselves of who we were in Christ and what He has done for us!
This passage is all about clarifying true religion from false religion, because in this passage, we find the promise that there is a kind of religion which is certain to produce blessing and life.
God, our Maker, and in Christ, our Father, is good. He is for His people, and He there is a gift that we have received, that when we have rightly oriented our hearts around it, should leave us supremely grateful, no matter the season, no matter the storm.

Pride is a dangerous proposition that every person is prone to elevate in one's life. James helps to show us that we must crucify pride and pursue humility, because God humbles the proud and gives grace to the humble!

There are two sources that promise wisdom. One that offers true wisdom, joy, and abundance, and another that offers foolishness and folly. God, who is perfectly wise, invites us to find true wisdom in Him through fearing and following Him. He also warns us not to heed in false wisdom in this life.

Trails in life are coming, or are here, for every single person. God invites us through His word to look to Him in the midst of trials in order that we might remain steadfast and count those trials as joy!

In our new series through the book of James, we will be considering the real fruit that comes from real faith in Christ Jesus. In order to see this, we must first understand that true faith in Christ always produces obedience to God and fruit in the lives of God's people.
Passage: James 2:14-26
Jesus came to build a house, a house where God will dwell with His people! The problem is this: sometimes, people aren’t interested in God’s dwelling with them, or their so distracted by other things, that they miss what’s happening right in front of them.

As the Church, we have the invitation from God to both love our neighbors and share the truth of the Gospel with them. In Christ, we have all we need to learn and to live a life on mission.

Before Jesus ascended to the Father, He gave the Church a mission to be faithful instruments in the hands of an empowering and faithful God. The mission is clear, but it is also challenging. The good news, however, is that our God is perfectly faithful in this mission, and He goes with us and empowers us with the Holy Spirit as we go out!

The first Adam was born in a garden and banished in shame, bringing death to all creation. The second Adam was buried in a garden and left in glory, bringing life to all creation! Christ the King lives, and through Him, we will live!
Passage: 1 Corinthians 15
Palm Sunday is a reminder of what Jesus willingly, knowingly, and joyfully did for us. We must give thanks! We must give thanks with our words, with our songs, with our gathering in His name, but also, as or more importantly we must give thanks with our lives! Every day of your life must be lived from a place of grateful response to what God has done for you in Christ.
Passage: Psalm 118
This Sunday we considered one of the great Hymns of our faith, Christ the Lord is Risen Today. This is the truth of Christianity, that Christ died for our sins, and rose from the grave. Both now, and for eternity, we praise not merely the lamb, but the lamb who was slain, and now lives!
Humble obedience to God and His Word, in Christ is the only way to faithfully step into a life of rest and abundance. In Jesus, we find the better guide in whom we can trust to lay down our pride before and follow.

The blessed life is a life, not of earthly wealth, but Kingdom wealth. Therefore, if
we want blessing, we must invest in the Kingdom!
Passage: Proverbs 3:9-10
The blessed life is a life that has been healed from the sickness of sin! We live in a world that is sick with sin, but we serve a God who is mighty to save. God’s desire and design is for a people of healthy, vigorous, unfading blessing, because He is a God who seeks His glory, and the good of those in Christ.
Passage: Proverbs 3:7-8
A blessed life must hold tightly and exhibit loyal love! Our call to steadfast love and faithfulness begins with being rooted and filled with in the perfect love of God. From that place, we ought to reflect love outwards towards God and others.

Do you want a good life? The only way to have that, is to trust in the Lord. A heart full of faith in the Lord, is the only way, that you and I can have a blessed life.

The Proverbs teach us how to walk in the fear of God, to live a life of wisdom, and in that, to experience blessing. In this passage we find that in order to become a community in which the Gospel is held fast to, we must become a people who love to listen to wisdom and receive truth!
Proverbs 15:9-10, 12, 14, 21-22, 25, 31-33
Vision for each of our lives, our community, and this church, must always be grounded in, and oriented around, the Gospel. It is in the Gospel of Jesus Christ we find purpose in all we do.

The book of Proverbs teaches us that our words have the power of life and death. For us to walk in wisdom and righteousness, our hearts must be submitted to The Word so that our words might give life!

So often, we are taught and predisposed to seek our greatest good, not by loving each other, but by loving ourselves. For those who are in Christ, the labor of your life ought to be loving one another.

Christmas is a time to look back and reflect on the joy and meaning of Christ's incarnation; however, it also serves as an opportunity to look forward in wonderful expectation of Christ's return!
Passage: Revelation 22:12-14
Christmas serves as a reminder that God loves His people as He embodies perfect love Himself. Therefore, the heart of the Christian life is simply that we must love because we are loved!
Passage: 1 John 4:7-21
The coming of Christ is only good news to those who are seeking a king! In the Christmas story we see the contrast of the Magi and of Herod who both sought the birth of Jesus, but for different purposes. One sought to bow before and worship the baby king, the other sought to destroy him.
Every person will either bow to Christ the King, or break themselves against Him.

The message of Christmas is that the Serpent crusher has come at last! Christ Jesus is the serpent crusher who was promised. The Son of God and the Seed of Eve who has broken the power of Satan and will soon defeat sin and death forever!

Jesus freed His people that they might forever bear the fruit of love. If Christ is your king, then the business of your life must be working from your faith through your love!

The Father of heaven has freely promised, by the work of His Son, to form a Kingdom of
those who are united with Christ, who enjoy all the privilege and blessings of sonship, and who live forever in the wonder of His grace.

The cross of Christ is a universally recognized symbol for Christianity, yet many still fail to fully grasp the reality of what makes the cross so significant. It was on the cross that Christ became the cure for our cursed life of sin by becoming the curse Himself. On the cross, Christ gave His life, so that, God's people might have life!

Everyone is trusting in something. Everyone is seeking life in something and looking to a foundation to be their strength. As believers, we know through the Word that life can only be found through faith in Jesus Christ, so we must live by faith!

In a world that calls us to seek life in self, the gospel invites us to be united with the one who is life!

In moments where evil and wickedness seems to be winning, it is easy to feel angry, tired, and confused. In Psalm 11 we are reminded of how we ought to respond and draw near to the God who has won the battle and sits on the throne.
In a world of fearful evil, we must faithfully fight.

Paul in Galatians gives us insight into the incredible implications of union with Christ as the foundation by which believers experience a secured position, perfect love, and joy-filled communion.
Passage: Galatians 2:15-21
Legalism is a religious justification for putting your trust and security in earthly things, what you can do, and what others think. The cure to legalism isn’t fundamentally
about what we do and don’t do, it’s about who we are found in!
Passage: Galatians 2:1-16
God always has and always will demonstrate his power by taking really messed up sinners and transforming them into Saints. Paul, the author of Galatians, shows us that his life serves as a living demonstration of the truth that salvation belongs to the Lord. God loves to take the things that are most broken, and bring beauty from them as spotlights of His glory!
Passage: Galatians 1:11-24
The warning against false Gospels in Galatians, above anything else is a call for us to be a people who live in constant fellowship with the true Gospel. There has only ever been, and there will only ever be one Gospel, and we must cling to it!
Passage: Galatians 1:1-10
The Gospel isn’t the message of God making the best out of a bad situation, it is the message of His super abundant, radical grace, which has been leading to the salvation and blessing of His people, through Jesus, since before time began. The Gospel is the good news of Salvation and life, through Jesus Christ, for all Creation!

The Church is the light of the world, a the lamp on the lampstand, that will light the
way, so that, many who are lost can be found and one day surround Christ in worship and praise together as His people.
Passage: Matthew 5:14-16
Everyone finds out at some point that something in us is prone to sabotage our pursuit of good unless it is put in its place. If you want to follow Christ, a rule of your life must be to crucify your flesh, because the reality of your life is that He has so much more in store for you!
Passage: Matthew 16:24-25
Everyone is in some race or battle for a prize. In this passage, Paul invites us to run a different and better race than the race of this world. This life is not the finish line, and by our God’s good grace, we are running a race we can win, and a race which is leading to a prize which is more wonderful than we can possibly imagine.
Passage: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
The reality of God is the root of a radically thankful life. True thankfulness is found in the recognition that someone has given us something we did not earn.
Christ Jesus came into this world and gave up His life so that God's people could have new life. By the grace of God through faith in Jesus, we receive something we did not and could not earn. Because of what Christ has done, knowing Him is cause for unquenchable thankfulness and joy!
Passage: Psalm 100
In the world we live in there are countlessperspectives on marriage. Many of us go into marriage without a clear sense of its divine purpose and as a result, taking a cue from our top five favorite rom-coms, think that the fundamental point is our fulfilment. Through Psalm 45, we encounter the truth that there is a marriage that makes us whole, but it’s not a marriage of this world.
Followers of Jesus are called to be holy and set-apart as sojourners and exiles. Belonging to Jesus means that you have been born again and made a citizen of the Kingdom of God! As citizens of God's Kingdom, Peter exhorts us to live and to look different in this world.
This invitation to live and look different in our character and conduct is the very foundation of our witness as ambassadors and representative of Christ to a watching world.
Passage: 1 Peter 2:11-12
Leviticus reveals that this life is messy and that we are a messy people. The result of this mess is separation from God. The hope of the Gospel is not that we are capable of cleaning up the mess ourselves, but rather that God himself actually came down to make us clean. Jesus Christ can make you clean, so bring your mess to Him!
Passage: Leviticus 12-15
If we are in Christ, we must be rich in good works! That requires discovering through God’s Word, by His Spirit, what it looks like to love God with everything we have, and love people deeply.
Jesus shows us through His life and teachings what good means, why good matters, and where good begins.
Passage: Matthew 5:13-20
The animal food laws of Leviticus point us to a larger redemptive work God set out to accomplish. Here we see that Jesus came to break down walls and change the menu to declare God's people clean and make them holy!
Passage: Leviticus 11
We all know there are things that demand everything we’ve got and things that don’t. The more real something is, the more it rightly requires of us. The more real our goal, the greater the joy of victory, and the sorrow of failure. God is great and glorious, the most real thing, and our most fundamental purpose is to worship Him. So, if God is really our God, we’ve got to be a real worshippers!

We often crave or seek out a middleman because we recognize that we have a problem, a need, or a desire that we can’t solve, and we want someoneelse to see us, understand us, and then to go on our behalf to a place we cannot go in order to gain what we cannot gain. If we want to enjoy God’s friendship rather than face His wrath, we need a priest, and the only One who can be our priest, is Jesus Christ.
Passage: Leviticus 8-9
It is not hard to look at our lives and recognize that we are each sinful. Our sinful nature is serious and requires a cost in order that we might be made right with God. Thankfully, our God sent Jesus Christ to be the final sacrifice, once and for all, for sinners that we might be saved. In Christ, we are forgiven and set free to no longer remain in our sin, but instead walk in the new we have been given by the grace of God through continual repentance and faith.
Passage: Leviticus 4:1-6:7
Jesus came so that you could fellowship with God forever! Here in Leviticus we see the foreshadowing of restored fellowship between God and His people through a sacrifice that is not merely a blessing unto God, but a joyful celebration for His people.

The Cross is not the end of the journey with God, it is the beginning. God didn’tsave us by grace that we would live the same or offer Him some cheap token of affection, He saved us that our whole lifemight be a thankful, responsive offering unto Him!
Passage: Leviticus 2
In Leviticus, we find instruction that God gave to His people regarding animal sacrifices as a means to atone for sin. This instruction is meant to serve as a setup and signal to point us to the the one, final, and only sacrifice (the one true offering) that could fully atone for sin and make us right with God. That being, the body and blood of Jesus Christ which was broken and poured out on the cross.

God is Holy and He calls His people to be Holy!
People too often hear conversations about pursuing holiness and think it’s like paying to get into an event; such as, "you pay and you get the goods". That’s not how it works. Pursuing holiness isn’t the price you pay to get into the event, it’s the event God has bought your ticket for!

Jesus was missed by people who had been spending 400 years desperately searching for Him.
**If we don’t recognize how radically upside-down (from our perspective) King Jesus is, we’re going to miss Him.

In the gospel of Jesus Christ, we have the invitation to find life; all-satisfying, all-nourishing, unending life! As God's people, we are being invited into, and moving towards, that life. One of the greatest dangers to our enjoyment of that is living with our eyes focused on the temporary rather than the eternal.

When it appears that sin and evil prosper around us, we are invited to place our trust and set our eyes on God and His great purposes for us in this life!

The Promise of Preservation that God gives to His people invites clarity, rest, and obedience in walking with Him.
