Azera was first introduced to cosplay after being captivated by the incredible costumes she saw at conventions and through photos shared online. She admired the creativity, craftsmanship, and the way cosplayers brought fictional characters to life with such detail and passion.
Since she didn’t know how to make costumes herself at the time, she turned to her grandmother, who had sewing skills and experience creating clothes. Excited by the idea, Azera asked her grandmother to help bring her vision to life. The very first costume she wanted to create was inspired by Daenerys Targaryen, an iconic character from Game of Thrones. Together, they worked on making the outfit, turning what started as simple inspiration into something real.
What began as admiration for costumes at conventions eventually turned into a hobby and creative outlet that she deeply enjoyed. From that point on, Azera never stopped cosplaying and continued exploring new characters, designs, and opportunities to express her creativity through the art of cosplay.

Before the pandemic hit, Rangers was an actress constantly on the move, jumping between jobs, auditions, and sets. She shared a place with a close friend, someone who had already found passion and purpose in the world of cosplay. Her friend was deeply immersed in the craft, creating everything from elaborate armor builds to finely tailored costumes. Watching the creativity unfold sparked something in Rangers, a curiosity, a desire to explore cosplay herself.
But life had other plans.
With her schedule packed and no time to spare, Rangers could only admire from the sidelines. It wasn’t until the pandemic had come and gone that she finally found a rare moment of stillness and with it, the opportunity to dive headfirst into cosplay. From the very first build, it clicked. What started as an interest quickly became a calling.
And as they say, the rest was history.

At the beginning of 2016, Sym was introduced to the world of cosplay. Her first exposure came through YouTube. At the time, she was simply a fan of anime. While browsing through various videos, she stumbled upon a female cosplayer who was performing Japanese voice lines while dressed as the character. Impressed by the creativity and dedication, Sym shared the video with her mother. Soon after, she attended her first cosplay convention, and as expected, she fell in love with the hobby. It wasn’t long before she became a cosplayer herself.

Meg was introduced to cosplay when they and their best friend decided to attend Comic-Con dressed up in costumes. At the time, they weren't aware that "cosplay" had become a distinct term for people dressing up outside of Halloween. As they delved deeper into the world, Meg learned about key aspects of the cosplay community, such as having your own unique brand and the opportunity to do photoshoots with photographers who specialize in cosplay. This new knowledge quickly captured their interest, and they soon became hooked on pursuing the hobby.

Around 2017, a niche cosplay event was held in Kolkata, so under the radar that even Bomba, a local, had no idea it was happening in his own city. A passionate fan of Iron Man, Bomba decided to craft his own Arc Reactor prop and stepped into the shoes of Tony Stark for the occasion. Around the same time, a friend invited him to appear as a cosplayer at another event. Without hesitation, Bomba accepted the offer, not knowing that this simple “yes” would become a pivotal moment in his journey, marking the beginning of his path as an official cosplayer.

At the age of 14, Cele began cosplaying. Even with limited resources and experience, she managed to bring certain characters to life with creativity and passion. After a 10-year hiatus, she was reintroduced to the world of cosplay through a friend who recognized her potential not just as a cosplayer, but also as a promising musician. That friend invited her to one of the Attack on Titan musical plays. The fusion of music and theatrical performance reignited something in Cele. It was the perfect blend of her two passions, and exactly what she needed to return to cosplay once again.

Around 2014, Alini, a Belgian cosplayer, was first exposed to cosplay at a conference. She became intrigued by this and attempted to look for images related to cosplay. In the same year that she was first introduced to cosplay, she started taking part a few weeks later. She became so interested in cosplay that she began building her costumes instead of purchasing them. Surprisingly, the aspect of producing a costume that most thrills her is working with foam to create armor and props.

Greetings from Singapore, Hanari. She was interested in fashion, makeup, and anime from an early age, so before she even became a cosplayer, she already possessed all the traits of one. Cosplay was one of the things she started looking for to take her mind off of her current circumstances when COVID-19 shut down the world back in 2020. notably, closet cosplay, a subgenre of cosplay. Even when things started to return to normal, she continued to cosplay since then.

Storm, a cosplayer from North Carolina, is here today. He was first introduced to cosplay by two of his friends in 2009, who told him about cosplay conventions and what they were. After moving to North Carolina in 2010 and setting up internet access at his new residence, he began researching everything there was to know about cosplay. Storm, who enjoys video games, chose to model himself after one of his all-time favorite characters, Link, from the Legend of Zelda series for his first-ever cosplay. From there, he finally developed into an actual cosplayer.

Mathilda from Georgia is our guest for today. Following her father's immigration to the US, she became acquainted with cosplay. Her father, a die-hard Star Wars fan, started attending local conventions in the costume of Darth Vader, accompanied by her daughter Mathilda, who was cosplaying Princess Leah. She would therefore be more inclined to pursue cosplaying after having this kind of experience and the opportunity to make a costume out of things.

Minno of Hong Kong is today's visitor. It began when one of her pals offered her a costume to try on. Minno recalls that her first cosplay experience did not go well due to her make-up and wig style, which were at best amateur, but this only encouraged her to practice more and become better at it, and soon after, she finally achieved at least doing her make-up even better and becomes even better as she continuously evolves throughout the year.

Naru, a cosplayer from Germany, will join us today. In the 2000s, Naru was inspired to become a Mangaka/Comic Artist. By 2005, a colleague artist had brought her to a local carnival, where she witnessed a variety of people in costumes. Back then, "cosplay" was not a buzzword. Upon learning that in front of her is what is now being recognized as cosplaying, her attention is sparked and quickly became one of her most established passions in her life.

Crystalmoth from Italy is joining us today. Back in 2013, one of her friends approached her and asked her to do a cosplay with her at a comic festival, despite the fact that she had no idea what it was. After her friend chose to stop doing cosplay, Crystal stayed because she fell in love with the hobby itself, and she is still doing cosplay and loves it to this day.

Our guest for the day is Jelly from Germany. She discovered a large number of Harley Quinn cosplayers in 2017 while perusing the internet in preparation for the then-upcoming Suicide Squad film. Upon realizing that dressing up was not just for Halloween, she conducted more research and discovered that Comic-Con was happening. She therefore made the decision to attend the event and conduct her first cosplay there.

Today we have Californian Jimmysherfy joining us. Even though the term "cosplay" wasn't even invented back then, he was already attending San Diego Comic-Con as a young comic book enthusiast in 1992–1993, watching people dressed as characters from all sorts of pop culture media. Jimmysherfy commenced his involvement in the cosplay world around in 2010, and he hasn't looked back.

She began exploring the world of cosplay in 2006, while also introducing the concept to her city with her group. She began by making photoshoots but quickly transitioned into a competitor herself, even winning one of the major cosplay events in the Southeast Asian region of the world. She took a long break from cosplay owing to circumstances and priorities, but she was able to return to what she loved by 2022.

She was interested in many activities back in 2017, when she was still quite young, including photography, makeup, hair styling, and design. She enjoyed playing video games and watching anime, but it wasn't until she went to a cosplay convention for the first time that she realized all of her interests were connected to cosplay, and it was only natural for her to become involved in the activity herself.

She became interested in anime-related stuff on Instagram when she was fourteen. She was then introduced to a cosplayer who made a before and after cosplay of the character Widow Maker. She pondered how she managed it with everything cosplay-related, from the make-up and outfit to the nitty-gritty details. As a result of this, she began to research the activity itself, which piqued her interest in cosplay.

Bloom loved dressing up her favorite characters from the cartoon series Winx as a child, although with less precision and more for the sake of wearing a costume. During her high school years, a friend hosted a Halloween party, and she was the only one who went all out with her costumes, demonstrating that she was meant to be a cosplayer herself. She was eventually introduced to cosplay, and as she puts it, "the rest was history."

Ash got exposed to cosplay in 2016 when she attended her first cosplay convention. There, she was taken aback by the many outfits and characters presented by the cosplayers at the time. As an anime fan, she became fascinated by some of the anime characters themselves. Because she genuinely wanted to portray them, she decided that cosplay would be her avenue of choice.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Umaruun from Belgium.
Her family member was into anime and video games. She was asked one day whether she wanted to accompany him to a Japan Expo event in Paris. There, she witnessed several cosplayers, which influenced her decision to pursue cosplay as well. Her grandmother was a skilled seamstress, which gave her an advantage in learning how to make her own outfits.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Yukiro from Spain.
She first participated in cosplay around 2007 at a convention. She loved seeing cosplayers bring her favorite characters to life. Her cosplaying has been so artistically done that it exceeds my expectations; it's like staring at a painting while wearing cosplay. In June 2022, she held her first cosplay photo exhibit; let's hope for another one soon.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Dani from the Philippines.
Dani was introduced to cosplay at a young age by her father, who is also a cosplayer. With her background, it's no surprise that she eventually became a cosplayer herself. During the interview, I was surprised to learn how talented Dani is, and how she became, quote, "an official Genshin Impact content creator" herself. This episode will reveal more about her story. Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is July from Germany.
Being an anime/manga enthusiast, like most of the guests on this podcast, it always leads to someone getting into cosplay, and July was no exception as well. One time, her uncle invited her to go out, and as they went to a particular convention, a cosplay event was taking place at that time. Seeing this, Julie made a firm decision to become a full-fledged cosplayer.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Xerenite from Toronto, Canada.
At a young age, she was into anime and the characters, the fight scenes, or just the animations in general, even the story and character development for her were very interesting and cool. As someone who used to dress up for stuff like Halloween, her destiny as a cosplayer became inevitable. Tifa from the Final Fantasy 7 was her first cosplay, she studied martial arts, so she relates to her as a character that is into it as well. Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Amanda from Los Angeles.
When she was young, she loved Halloween dress-up and drag, an indication that she would be into cosplaying. As a teenager, she experienced her first anime convention and noticed that she felt out of place, wearing only regular clothes apart from the cosplayers who went. She started to research a bit about cosplay and eventually decided to push herself to become a cosplayer. Interacting with the community as a cosplayer gives her happiness and positivity.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Lady Avianna from Las Vegas.
Back in 2008, she was supposed to go to a DND convention when unknowingly, people who visited would dress up as characters in the movies instead of the usual DND characters. Once she was there, little did she know it would be her introduction to cosplay. As a fan of horror games, she cosplayed the monster nurse character from the silent hill, one of her early cosplays. Her background as someone who works on costumes and wigs became an asset to her cosplay and she continues to learn other things that can support her hobby.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Kadirine from Switzerland.
It started with her reading mangas collected by her big brother, which continued to transition to watching anime, and eventually experienced a cosplay convention. She has a two-year-old daughter that even if she continues to pursue her endeavors in cosplaying, never forgets her most iconic role, and that is to be a mother.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Herbz from Ottawa, Canada.
Cosplay was introduced to him way back in 2007, going to cosplay conventions and such. Wearing costumes for him before was merely a prank and wasn't taken too seriously, eventually, he found a reason to step up his cosplay game. Being a cosplayer can sometimes invite unwanted prejudice, and to Herbz it was unavoidable, however, this doesn't stop him as he continues to push forward. One notable thing about him is he makes the best out of his costumes, whether for casual events or the more important ones like charity and thus his cosplay story becomes epic, because of it.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Ysabel from the Philippines.
Like some of the guests here in the podcast, Ysabel was also introduced to cosplay by attending a cosplay convention here in the Philippines. She started trying her cosplaying by just wearing costumes but as time progressed she started to try other aspects of cosplaying which includes her trying out make-up, contact lenses, wigs, etc. Her way of cosplaying is trying to have characters that she can relate to personally, and one notable character for her would be Ryuko from the anime Kill la Kill. All through this interview, she was very directive about having a relationship with the characters that she cosplays which is simply reflected in her works.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Randy from Winsconsin, USA.
Cosplay came into his life after he watched a show called Cosplay of Heroes, and there he was introduced to one of the famous and iconic cosplayers named Yaya Han. Cosplaying helped him a lot in communicating with people, and though he considers himself a novice, the room for improvement allowed him to challenge and pursue such opportunities in cosplay. Aside from Yaya Han, he was also inspired by other two cosplayers named Starfall and Steampunkery, they became his guide to becoming better at cosplay, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Hasa from Vietnam.
Thinking that it was very interesting, Hasa started to cosplay in 2019. Recently Her favorite character to cosplay was Violet Evergarden and at the same time, the hobby helped her learn some skills in making some parts of the costumes by herself as well. Hasa's biggest criticizers are her mother and brother but eventually the fact that she will be cosplaying and continue her career on it grew in them.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is 冬目huyume from Taiwan.
Her first impression about cosplay was that it wasn't fun but then one day a friend invited her to cosplay and that changed her view about the hobby after. She enjoyed her first cosplay and was able to overcome her shyness and gain a lot of friends in the process. Making ways to fund her own costume, especially the expensive ones, shows that she is dedicated to the hobby.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Sabrina from Peru.
Straight from Peru, Sabrina tells her story about being a cosplayer; going to cosplay conventions with cosplayer friends; and how she met her husband within that community. She also talks about her love for Digimon, which is to me personally is a rare sight to engage with, as somebody who likes the franchise as well. Much like cosplayers she also went through the highs and lows of being one, and how she triumphs and continues to love what she does.

Welcome back to another episode of The Cosplay Crib Podcast, today's guest is Nayumi from the Philippines.
At 8 years old she was given a Chibimoon costume by her mother and it became her most cherished dress. She then started reading manga, watching anime, and collecting cosplay magazines, an otaku at heart. It wouldn't be a surprise when she eventually ventured into cosplaying. Nayumi is a cosplayer most of us immediately would relate to.
