Welcome back to another episode of Cats, Community, and Conversations hosted by Linda Tooth and Michelle Marshall. In this episode, the ladies’ welcome special guests Ashley and Kim Large to discuss the recent UCP legislation surrounding transgender youth.
Being a parent in today’s world has its challenges and rewards. As a parent, you are responsible for ensuring that your children are happy, healthy, and living the best life possible. Unfortunately, not all children have such a secure and happy life. It is our pleasure to introduce Ashley and Kim. They are parents from Medicine Hat, Alberta who are doing everything in their power to ensure their children live the happy and healthy lives they deserve. As parents of a trans-female child, they have embraced who their child is and are fighting to ensure their child has all the resources due to them. The UCP government of Alberta has proposed legislation changes that severely impact everything Ashley and Kim are working towards. We were thrilled they agreed to join our podcast to share their story. On today's episode, the ladies are fired up over the new policy regarding transgender kids' rights in Alberta. The legislation Premier Smith is hoping to take to the floor in the fall limits the ability of younger Albertans seeking to transition by implementing age restrictions for things like puberty blockers and surgeries and even requiring youth to have parents' consent to change pronouns or how they would like to be addressed.
The ladies also reference an incredible article in the Medicine Hat News by Dr. Roberta Lexier on these potential life-threatening changes.

Rhimes has taken some creative freedom and allowed us to witness different cultures and races courting and marrying into that social circle. Janet and Judy along with a team of compassionate individuals spend countless hours roaming the many communities of our city providing clean water, regular food, and warm shelter to the hundreds of homeless cats in our city. Not to mention, the team of volunteers who have spent thousands of dollars to ensure these darling animals are safe and cared for.
The ladies also take a deeper dive into the Trap, Neuter, Release bylaw waiting for amendments for city council and the positive impact it is projected to have towards this growing concern.
