Vibes web3 music competition week #16, it's @paulzeks here. Hope y’all are doing well? It is always a pleasure to be on here.
This week, I'm covering a mashup by Nigerian singer-songwriters Burna Boy and Adekunle Gold: 'On the Low' and 'Sinner.' Since the theme is 'Roots,' I decided to take it back to the days when I used to learn how to produce and compose R&B music. As a producer, I’ve always wondered how an Afro song would sound when slowed down to get that R&B vibe. On this track, I achieved that by combining different sound elements to bring out the beauty of the cover. From the strings, snaps, triangle, smooth synth, synth bass, and more, I crafted a unique sound.
I also invited the amazing talent Antwon to cover the song with me and bring it to life. This mashup blends the rhythm and chords of both songs seamlessly. "On the Low" and "Sinner" are both feel-good love songs—one expresses the singer’s desire to sustain and protect the love, while the other is drawn to the love and cannot stay away from it. Enjoy!

Hello Hive Open Mic Community, it’s week #122 and I’m happy to share my entry this week. I’ll be performing a song by Ne-Yo called so sick, we all know that Ne-Yo is a phenomenon song writer.
On this track, every song Ne-Yo hears reminds him of his lost love; it's a love song about being tired of love songs. It's also an autobiographical tale of love gone wrong. "It's about the first time I fell in love with a girl in a way that I completely screwed it up. So it was a story that I didn't have to think really hard about putting it together," Ne-Yo told Billboard magazine. "A lot of heartbreak went into that song, so that's why I think a lot of people dug it the way they did - because you can feel it."
Lots of Emotion in one song, hope y’all enjoy listening to this half as much as we(@paulzeks X @sleemfit) enjoyed playing/singing it for you.
LYRICS
"So SicK"
Mm, mm, yeah
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do-do
Ooh, yeah
Gotta change my answering machine
Now that I'm alone
'Cause right now it says that we
Can't come to the phone
And I know it makes no sense
'Cause you walked out the door
But it's the only way I hear your voice anymore
(It's ridiculous)
It's been months
And for some reason I just (Can't get over us)
And I'm stronger than this, yeah (Enough is enough)
No more walking 'round with my head down (Yeah)
I'm so over being blue
Cryin' over you
And I'm so sick of love songs, so tired of tears
So done with wishin' you were still here
Said I'm so sick of love songs, so sad and slow
So why can't I turn off the radio?
Gotta fix that calendar I have
That's marked July 15th
Because since there's no more you
There's no more anniversary
I'm so fed up with my thoughts of you
And your memory
And how every song reminds me of what used to be
That's the reason
I'm so sick of love songs, so tired of tears
So done with wishin' you were still here
Said I'm so sick of love songs, so sad and slow
So why can't I turn off the radio?
(Oh, leave me alone) Leave me alone
(Stupid love songs) Oh-oh, hey
Don't make me think about her smile
Or having my first child
I'm letting go
Turning off the radio
'Cause I'm so sick of love songs (Hey), so tired of tears (So tired of tears)
So done with wishin' she were still here (Oh)
Said I'm so sick of love songs, so sad and slow (Ooh, oh)
So why can't I turn off the radio? (Why can't I turn off the radio?)
And I'm so sick of love songs, so tired of tears (So tired of tears)
So done with wishing she were still here
Said I'm so sick of love songs, so sad and slow (Hey)
Why can't I turn off the radio? (Why can't I turn off the radio?)
And I'm so sick of love songs (So sick of love songs)
So tired of tears (And I'm so sick, so sick of love song)
So done with wishing you were still here
(And I'm so sick, so sick of love songs)
Said I'm so sick of love songs, so sad and slow (Hey)
So why can't I turn off the radio?
Why can't I turn off the radio?
Why can't I turn off the radio?

Hive open mic community, here’s my cover of a classic hit song by Tupac Shakur titled Changes. In line with the week’s theme “Prejudice”
This song is about the racial issues on the streets, and how everyone knows that it will never change; there will always be poverty and homeless people and violence on the streets, "Some things will never change."
I personally feel the song (Changes) have a unique sound and a perfect message that express over things that matters to everyday life.
Also, I want to use this opportunity
To appreciate the love and warm reception y’all showed me just on my introductory post, Thank you!
I hope you guys enjoy my entry.
VOCALS
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
Aww yeah
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
Aww yeah
LYRICS
I see no changes, wake up in the morning and I ask myself:
"Is life worth living? Should I blast myself?"
I'm tired of being poor and, even worse, I'm black
My stomach hurts so I'm looking for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
Pull the trigger, kill a nigga, he's a hero
"Give the crack to the kids: who the hell cares?
One less hungry mouth on the welfare!"
First ship 'em dope and let 'em deal to brothers
Give 'em guns, step back, watch 'em kill each other
"It's time to fight back," that's what Huey said
Two shots in the dark, now Huey's dead
I got love for my brother
But we can never go nowhere unless we share with each other
We gotta start making changes
Learn to see me as a brother instead of two distant strangers
And that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
But things change... and that's the way it is
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
Aww yeah
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
Aww yeah
I see no changes, all I see is racist faces
Misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under, I wonder what it takes to make this
One better place, let's erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people, they'll be acting right
'Cause both Black and White are smoking crack tonight
And the only time we chill is when we kill each other
It takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven-sent
We ain't ready to see a black president
It ain't a secret, don't conceal the fact:
The penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks
But some things will never change
Try to show another way, but you staying in the dope game
Now tell me, what's a mother to do?
Being real don't appeal to the brother in you
You gotta operate the easy way
"I made a G today," but you made it in a sleazy way
Selling crack to the kids
"I gotta get paid!", well hey, but that's the way it is
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
Aww yeah
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
Aww yeah
We gotta make a change
It's time for us as a people to start making some changes
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
And let's change the way we treat each other
You see the old way wasn't working
So it's on us to do what we gotta do to survive
And still I see no changes
Can't a brother get a little peace?
It's war on the streets and a war in the Middle East
Instead of war on poverty
They got a war on drugs so the police can bother me
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do
But now I'm back with the facts giving it back to you
Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up
Crack you up and pimp-smack you up
You gotta learn to hold your own
They get jealous when they see you with your mobile phone
But tell the cops they can't touch this
I don't trust this, when they try to rush I bust this
That's the sound of my tool
You say it ain't cool, my mama didn't raise no fool
And as long as I stay black, I gotta stay strapped
And I never get to lay back
'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the payback
Some buck that I roughed up way back
Coming back after all these years
"Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat!" That's the way it is
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
Aww yeah
(You're my brother, you're my sister)
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
Aww yeah
Some things'll never change
