Welcome to the latest episode of the Pure Nintendo Podcast. We kick things off with our usual amiibo update. In this week's exciting round, both Roger and Jemma have new amiibo to show off.

We were away last week, so this bumper show has a lot of news and games to cover. Fristly, we delve into the recent Game Awards winners, which highlight some interesting Nintendo titles. Is it surprising that Tears of the Kingdom won Most Antipated game?

Jemma and Roger also talk about the latest Mario Movie trailers. Two more dropped recently, and we're both more excited than ever to see the movie when it comes out in April (arguably, Jemma was always this excited about it). The trailers give us a great glimpse into the Mushroom Kingdom, along with a closer look at characters like Donkey Kong, Luigi, and Princess Peach. Go Fire Peach!

A new wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tracks dropped recently and we discuss these in detail. This batch is our favorite to date, with a Christmas-themed track that makes us smile. Which is your favorite track?

Next we chat about the games we've been playing lately. We're loving our indie games at the moment, with quirky, fun titles like Inscryption, Buddy Simulator 1984, and Once Upon a Jester providing weirdness, cereepiness, and laughs respectively. There's a lot to love when it comes to indie games, and there's so much more to look forward to in 2023. We talk about a couple of other titles on our upcoming holiday playlist.

Before we wrap up this episode, we tease our final show for the year. Next week we'll invite other Pure Nintendo team members onto the show to talk about our top games of the year. Until then, game on!

Welcome to the latest episode of the Pure Nintendo Podcast. This week, we kick things off with our usual amiibo update, followed by an in-depth interview with Indie Informer, Jill Grodt.

During the interview, Roger and Jemma talk to Jill about her time with Game Informer and her love for indie games. We also discuss our top five indie games of 2022, counting down to our number one picks of the year. It's a tough choice with so many great titles hitting the Switch over the past 12 months, but the trio do their best to narrow it down. There can only be one, after all.

So, which games make it into our list? You'll have to listen to find out! But if you're a fan of the show, you might be able to guess a few of Jemma and Roger's top choices, including some from recent episodes.

There's a lot to love when it comes to indie games, and there's so much more to look forward to in 2023. Before we wrap up this episode, Jill highlights a couple of titles we should keep an eye on.

Then we delve into the lore of Minecraft, from Creepers to Illagers, since Jemma has been playing Minecraft Dungeons lately.

Finally, we interview Barry from Premium Edition Games to talk about the amazing process of creating physical copies of existing games for the Nintendo Switch.

Welcome back to the Pure Nintendo Podcast. After a short break, we're back to bring you the latest from the team, including our usual amiibo update, a look at our latest magazine, and the games we're playing this week.

It's that crazy time of year again! This week Roger and Jemma talk about Black Friday - what does the day even mean? And are there any good sales on the Nintendo eShop?

The biggest news from the team this week is the release of our latest issue of Pure Nintendo Magazine. This issue is all about Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, with a cover story co-written by Jemma herself along with her colleague Cody.

This leads the pair into a discussion of the games we're playing lately. Sadly, neither of us have managed to pick up Pokémon Scarlet/Violet just yet (we'll revisit that topic next week). Thankfully, another Japanese-themed game has had Jemma enamored. Yes, it's a little game about big monsters, something called Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher. And it's really good.

Roger also delves into his latest gaming review, a quirky little title called Once Upon a Jester. This interesting-sounding game is full of humor and Roger works hard at convincing Jemma it's worth a play. Spoiler alert: she didn't take much convincing.

Welcome back to the Pure Nintendo Podcast. This week's amiibo update comes to you all the way from Hyrule. Will Jemma be able to continue her new-amiibo-each-week routine? Time will tell!

We change things up this week as Jemma interviews Roger about his recent marathon streaming event. Roger participated in the noble cause that is Extra Life over the weekend, playing games to raise money for kids' hospitals. We dig into how this works, from the event to streaming in general. Congratulations, Roger, and thanks for the amazing tips!

Next we touch on Bayonetta 3 - how are those sales going in Japan? - before delving into the games we're playing lately. We're still working our way through the excellent Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.

Jemma has also been testing her farming skills in the life-sim outing Doraemon Story of Seasons. Not her typical genre, we find out her initial thoughts. And who or what exactly is Doraemon, anyway?

Roger has been playing the likes of Fall Guys, even completing a group challenge - nice work! He's also been getting into the latest Shovel Knight outing, Shovel Knight Dig. This game takes our "Mario of the series" to the place he belongs: underground. Yes, it's all about digging for treasure, as a knight weilding a shovel is wont to do.

Finally, we touch on the latest Sonic title, with Sonic Frontiers hitting the Switch this week. Is this a game we'll be playing? Do we think it will do well? Again - time will tell!

Welcome back to the Pure Nintendo Podcast! This week's amiibo update is brought to you by the sultry tunes of K.K. Slider. This leads us nicely into a discussion on Animal Crossing events, along with other interesting tidbits.

Roger and Jemma touch on the recent release of Bayonetta 3. Have we played it? How well has it been selling after the recent voicing controversy?

We also chat about how the eShop works across regions. Jemma discovered an interesting anomaly with one particular game, which is much more expensive in her homeland of Australia than in the US. We also tackle the question: Are trading games actually worth it?

Next, we discuss the games we've been playing this week. Roger has been diligently trying to achieve an impressive 100% completion rate in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. Meanwhile, Jemma has been playing a few interesting titles, including Letterbox by POWGI and The Battle of Polytopia.

Finally, we chat about the history of those cute Pikmin characters and how to play the original games in 2022. This is because Nintendo recently celebrated the 21st birthday of the series. How time flies!

It's time for another episode of The Pure Nintendo Podcast! We kick things off in style by checking out the latest additions to our amiibo collection. We also put to rest those pesky grammatical concerns when it comes to the word 'amiibo'. Phew!

Next we revisit last week's discussion on the Bayonetta 3 voice acting debate. A lot has happened in the past week, and we give out thoughts on the latest.

Roger and Jemma take a stroll down memory lane to talk about some of our favorite Halloween-themed games for the Nintendo Switch. There are so many great titles to choose from, ranging from budget to AAA. There's something for everyone to play this Halloween!

We also talk more about the amazing game that is Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. Now that Jemma has also had a chance to play it, we relive some of our favorite moments. And basically gush over how great it is.

Finally, Jemma attempts to redeem herself by playing a game she thought looked sub-par last week, aiming to answer the question: can you judge a book by its cover?

Welcome to another episode of The Pure Nintendo Podcast! We start things off with our usual amiibo roundup. Our hunts are becoming more and more difficult, but there was a golden idol added to Jemma's collection this week.

Next we discuss the recent news concerning Bayonetta's voice actor. Hellena Taylor was vocal on Twitter regarding why she isn't returning to the role for Bayonetta 3, and we take a look into what's going on.

Next we dive into one of the most highly anticipated Switch titles of the year, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. The game is out this week and Roger is reviewing it. He shares his thoughts on everything from the new setting, character weapons and moves, and side quests in this sequel title.

Jemma also talks about her latest review game, LEGO Bricktales. It's a world apart from the likes of other LEGO franchises like Star Wars and Harry Potter - in a good way.

Finally, Roger and Jemma look at a few recent titles that we find .. interesting, including Nickelodeon's latest kart racer and the fact that multiple curling games exist for the Switch.

Welcome to another episode of The Pure Nintendo Podcast! This milestone episode marks our tenth outing, and boy, do we have fun making this show each week. We begin this week with our usual amiibo discussion, which takes a twist as Jemma reaches her own milestone by matching Roger's amiibo numbers. with our co-hosts neck and neck, who will take the lead next week?

We also delve into the many and varied games we've been playing lately, including the fan-created homage to Mario games known simply as Super Mario Bros. 5.
There's more Mario love in store with a chat about Super Mario 3D World's collectathon. Can Jemma collect all 380 green stars? Plus, we look forward to the world premiere of the Super Mario Movie trailer. An entire Nintendo Direct is dedicated to this reveal, so it's bound to mark something special.

We talk about visual novels and deck-building games, from the dark-yet-cute Beacon Pines to Foretales. These deck-builders with a difference lead to a whole discussion on the genre, and Roger gives some tips on where to start; maybe Jemma even tried one without knowing it!

We may have played a little Splatoon 3 as well this week. Maybe. Probably.
Finally, we discuss some upcoming games we're excited about, like the universe-spanning No Man's Sky, which makes its way to the Switch soon.
There was a lot to talk about this week. What can we say; it's a fantastic time to be a Nintendo fan!

Welcome to another episode of The Pure Nintendo Podcast! This week we begin with an update on our amiibo collections. Although we both have new additions to show off - and Jemma has a particularly special one - it seems like Roger has taken the lead in terms of sheer numbers.

It was a big week for Nintendo fans with the streaming of the latest Nintendo Direct. So many games were announced and updated, and we dicsuss our favorite moments by naming the top three titles that we're excited about. We delve into the latest entries in series like The Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem, and Pikmin, while also getting excited about the new titles to hit the Nintendo 64 online collection.

We touch on the latest issue of the Pure Nintendo Magazine, which is out now. And we delve into some of the articles on offer, including Roger's first cover story. It's an exciting time to get on board and support the magazine!

We also discuss our continued time with Splatoon 3 and TMNT: Cowabunga Collection. These are great to play together online, though not without their issues, and we give our thoughts on both.

We end with a brief discussion about the current state of things in the gaming journalism industry. Be sure to support your favorite publications.

Welcome to another episode of The Pure Nintendo Podcast! This week we continue our discussion on those addictive amiibo, with a few new additions to Jemma’s collection. She’s reached the 30 mark now – will she be overtaking Roger anytime soon?

Jemma and Roger also discuss which franchises they’ve somehow missed over the years, from Splatoon to Sonic the Hedgehog. So many games, so little time.

We do a deep dive into the many games we’ve been playing lately, including some review games. There’s a wide variety to choose from, including the beat ‘em up stylings of River City Saga to the platforming nuances of Dyna Bomb 2. This leads into a look at the importance of good marketing for games.

Roger debriefs us on his latest review games, including the interesting-sounding Circus Electrique, as well as the newly released Disney Dreamlight Valley. We talk in-depth about this one, which seems to be one of the bigger releases of the year, at least from Disney’s perspective.
