Colossians 3:1-11 encourages believers to focus their minds on heavenly things rather than earthly desires, since they are united with Christ. It emphasizes putting to death earthly inclinations such as immorality, impurity, and greed, and instead, embracing virtues like compassion, kindness, humility, and forgiveness, reflecting the image of Christ in their lives. We have the power to choose with the Holy Spirit!

If a tree is unhealthy, it typically does not bear fruit. We can be similar in that aspect, we need to be walking in holiness with Him, and He will continue to strengthen and grow us. In turn, that helps us to be fruit, and will increasingly strengthen us in Him all the more. Join us this week as we walk through Colossians 1:9-14.

When John the Baptist was baptizing in Bethany, many of the religious leaders and Pharisees came to question him. Who are you? Are you the Messiah? And he patiently told them that he was just preparing the way. And that is our mission as well today, that we are to share the light that we have been given through Jesus, to make Him known and give the glory to Him. The second week of Advent is to represent peace. In a world filled with chaos and confusion, how can there be peace? It all comes through the gift that Jesus brought. Not many people have a flock of sheep in their backyard, so what does it mean to be a good shepherd? How do they care for their sheep and what does that look like in relation to Jesus caring for us? Join us this week as Jimmy walks through John 10:1-11.

Life has many challenges, and it isn't always an easy walk. When Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, he intended for it to be our inside helper. But what does it mean to walk in the spirit? This week Jim O'Connor walks us through Galatians 5.
As we look at 1 Peter 4:1-6 this Sunday, we are encouraged to embrace the same mindset as Christ in the face of hardships and challenges. The passage highlights the need for aligning our lives with God's plan and guides us to detach ourselves from worldly pursuits. As we go through different trials and temptations, this scripture serves as a reminder to hold onto our faith and Christlikeness, even in the face of criticism and/or opposition. By choosing to navigate suffering in a faithful manner, we will grow spiritually as we suffer following Christ's example.
Submission is a weighty word that has caused disagreements and even pushed some away from the church. This Sunday, we dig into the depth of submission in 1 Peter 2:18-3:6. We will explore what submission meant in its historical context and the unique challenges faced by brave individuals, such as slaves and women, who remained faithful to Christ despite difficult circumstances. We will also consider how our own relationships and interactions today compare to those of our early fellow believers.
This Sunday in 1 Peter 2:12-17, we will look at how we as believers should conduct ourselves in the world we live in. We will be encouraged as a family of faith that there is great value in reflecting God’s glory in our day-to-day lives. The hope is that, as we are empowered by the Spirit, we will show others Jesus. As God changes us, we begin to live lives that are in awe of God and that honor those around us.
In 1 Peter 2:9-12, we are described as "a chosen people, a royal priesthood," highlighting our unique identity and purpose as followers of Christ. This means that we not only receive God's grace but also carry a sacred responsibility. As God's chosen people, we are empowered to proclaim Him as we reflect our citizenship that is based in Heaven. This is a calling to all believers, urging us to embrace our identity and fulfill our noble role as a royal priesthood - bringing God's love and truth to a world in need!
Our Living Hope is the resurrected Christ, Jesus. We are called as believers to live as willing participants in God's plan of redemption because of our identity as children of God. As His children we have a choice, we can follow Him or not.
Our Living Hope brings us renewal as we live holy lives because we have a holy Heavenly Father who enables us to become more like Jesus. We can set our hope on the grace of our Living Hope, Jesus Christ. We can show our love and gratitude toward God by living as willing participants. We can experience the joy and peace that come from living in obedience to Him.
The holiday of Easter might be over, but the Good News of Easter never has to be. Much happened after the morning Jesus resurrected. What happened brought all the disciples a renewed faith. The resurrection did and still does bring renewal. How does the resurrection affect our lives as we seek daily renewal? This Sunday we look at 1 Peter 1:3-5 and what it teaches us about our Living Hope!
Easter Sunday! This is the day we build our faith upon. The events of that first Easter changed history because Jesus defeated sin and death. This Easter Sunday, we will take a look at how one disciple responded to the news of the resurrection. Thomas, known by many as Doubting Thomas, struggled with doubt following Jesus' resurrection. Despite the testimony of his fellow disciples, Thomas remained skeptical and demanded to see and touch the wounds of Jesus before he would believe. Jesus knew Thomas' heart and came to him even in his doubt.
Jesus' response to Thomas' doubt is a powerful reminder that our doubts and questions are not something to be ashamed of, but are opportunities for renewal. We are constantly reminded to not hide our doubts but to bring them so we can encounter the living God. This Easter, let us remember that doubt and faith do not have to be mutually exclusive but rather an invitation from God for renewal.
During the season of Lent, we are reminded of the call to renew our minds and hearts. Lent is a time of reflection and repentance; a time when we turn away from our sins and seek to draw closer to God. In Romans 12:1-2 we are called to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, and to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Lent provides us with a unique opportunity to engage in this process of renewal that helps us to draw closer to God and allows Him to transform us from the inside out!
As we journey through the season of Lent, we have been learning about renewal- what does it look like, how can I experience it? One aspect that we often overlook is leading ourselves towards the life God wants us to live.
This week we will hear from Dallas Stamper, founder and Executive Director of PiN (People in Need) Ministry, as he shares what the Bible says about leading yourself with the guidance of God. PiN began when Dallas and his wife, Anne, served sandwiches to the homeless on the boardwalk in 2002 and has grown to include a medical clinic, recovery groups, meals, Bible study, and a job training program.
As we continue our journey through the Lenten season we are focusing on the renewal of our faith. As we have seen over the last few weeks, there are many ways we can be renewed in our faith. This week we will look at renewing ourselves in a community of believers. We have been comforted by the Lord, and he empowers us to do the same with others!
Renewal is something that is attractive to all of us. We desire it and we pursue it. What if we lived our life in such a way that renewal was ongoing? We can accept the invitation from God of ongoing renewal. But be warned - this is a fight, a good fight, one that you are fully equipped to live through Christ!
This Sunday is the first Sunday of Lent. Perhaps our hearts and minds are longing for renewal. How do we achieve such a thing? Must we travel to Kentucky to experience revival or can we find it right in front of us within the pages of scripture? Maybe it's just a matter of renewing our approach to the scriptures. Let's take a fresh look into what Jesus said of the Bible, and see if we can find the elusive eternal life we all crave.
This Sunday we finish our study of Habakkuk. This book is a conversation Habakkuk has with God as he grapples with the injustice and violence he sees in his world. It leads him to wonder why God seems to be allowing it to continue. In the midst of his struggles, Habakkuk receives a message from God that ultimately brings him hope and comfort. That message at its core is all about Habakkuk 2:4 “the righteous shall live by faith”.
This Sunday we will pause from our series Habakkuk, Faith in Uncertainty, to talk about WHY. Why do we pray? Why do we worship through song? Why do we memorize scripture?We'll have a chance to hear from some of our church family as we take a look at these questions. Throughout the service, you'll hear from Stacey O'Donnell, Thomas Kearns and Lyle Watson!
These past few weeks we have been walking with Habakkuk on his journey of Faith in Uncertainty. He was a prophet, and a deep man of faith but he still had some questions for God. God do you care? Are you even fair? Are you there? Instead of running away from God in his questions, Habakkuk brought his questions to God and God answered him every time. It was not always what he expected or what he wanted, but God did answer his questions all the while leading him on his journey.
This week we'll see Habakkuk pray differently. It is through prayer and reflecting that he finally comes to a place of hope and confidence in God. He is able to praise God even as he waits for the difficulty ahead.
God used an evil nation to bring judgment to the nations around them. But they weren’t motivated by God’s desires, they were motivated by their own sinful desires. This strikes me as not far off from today. They conquered the surrounding nations to build an empire. They thought that they had it all but they were about to lose it all. This week we see what God’s Judgment will be. It comes in a series of five woes, followed by five ways God will judge them.
Join us as we look at how a faithful God continues to call a faithful people to Himself, and how through His love for us we can have Faith In Uncertainty.
Over the past few weeks, we have seen Habakkuk struggle with the problems of evil in the world. This Sunday he questions God’s justice. Habakkuk's questions are about the care of God, and the fairness of God. Does God really care, is He even fair?
We sometimes forget, or don’t realize at all, that God does care and God is all about justice. The reality is that God will judge evil, but it often doesn't happen as quickly as we'd like. God is both loving and just, which is another way to say - God cares and He is fair. Maybe you don’t question who God is, but maybe you have questioned His methods.
Join us as we look at how a faithful God continues to call a faithful people to Himself, and how through His love for us we can have Faith In Uncertainty.
Last week we began looking at an Old Testament book called Habakkuk. It is named after the author, a prophet, who complained twice to God. Habakkuk asks God why do good people suffer. He also asks why cruel people seem to succeed. As is normal in life, sometimes our questions lead to more questions. That is why our study in Habakkuk is called Faith In Uncertainty. This week in Habakkuk 5:1-11 we see that God is going to answer Habakkuk, and He will answer you too.

What would you say is the most defining aspect of Jesus’ character? In his letter to the Philippians, Paul highlights that when God appeared to us in history as the person of Jesus, the defining marks of his character and nature was humility. Listen in as we wrap up our Advent series, Living in the In Between, and reflect on how the humility of Jesus impacts us and our everyday faith.
We all want joy in our life. When we don't have joy, we can sometimes feel depressed, we might lash out at others, or maybe we become cynical. If we don't feel joyful, we try our absolute best to manufacture it. We spend our time, money, and mental energy pursuing feelings of joy. At some point we might begin to realize that this strategy doesn't last. Since we live in a world that is so broken, and constantly reminds us that all is not okay, what can we do?
Change that brings joy is always a matter of the heart. We can ask God to give us joy, but we have to be prepared for the work He will do in our hearts. We'll look at Luke 3:7-18 this Sunday as we ponder Change that Brings Joy, and continue our Advent series, Living in the In Between.
Sometimes I love preparing and sometimes I dread it. My guess is that you are like me, it all depends on how excited you are about what the preparation is for! There is such a thing as difficult preparation that somehow brings us peace. This Sunday we'll continue our Advent series by looking at Luke 3:1-6, and how we can experience peace through preparation. This life in the here-and-now is an invitation from God to prepare for eternity, and this preparation, though difficult, brings us peace.
Throughout this Advent season we continue to remind one another that we can live in expectation that Jesus is coming back one day, even as we live in the here-and-now. We are able to experience that in Christ we have Hope, Peace, Joy and Love, not just in eternity but as we are LIVING IN THE IN BETWEEN.
The coming Kingdom means new life. Yes, the reality before us means this broken life can sometimes get messy. Advent reminds us that we are living in between two worlds. The world we're in is the here and now - paying bills, dealing with sickness, experiencing joys and sorrows, helping and even hurting others, as well as rejoicing and grieving. But Advent also reminds us we can live with anticipation. We are living in between Christ's first arrival and His coming again!
Over the next four weeks we will remind one another that we can live in expectation that Jesus is coming back one day, even as we live in the here and now. We are able to experience that in Christ we have Hope, Peace, Joy and Love, not just in eternity but as we are LIVING IN THE IN BETWEEN.
As an Everyday Disciple, are we called to be in God for the world or be in the world for God? Those can sound the same and the difference might seem to be semantics, but that question asks two very different things. This week we will see what the difference is between the two. Both get you to heaven, sound right, and are difficult, but one of those eventually runs out.
In the Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, Jesus presents to us a clear difference between those who have belief in the life they have lived before God, versus those that have belief in the good news that Jesus came to save sinners. He not only saves us but offers us a day-to-day relationship with Him that keeps us from trusting in our life and allows us to fully trust in Him.
The result of living like this will help keep us from judging others, because Everyday Disciples are given a way to not be held prisoner to judging others. We see someone who looks like they have it all together that totally misses what God has for them, and one that appears to be a total mess that received exactly what God had for him. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series, Everyday Disciple in Luke 18:9-14.
Everyday disciples are invited by God to be generous, not just with our resources but also with our hearts. 1 Timothy 6:18 tells us to "do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share". Join us this week as we look at 1 Timothy 6:6-10 & 17-19 and continue our series, Everyday Disciple.
Why did I doubt God? Is that ever a question you ask yourself, or had someone else ask you? I'll be honest, I have thought that and have felt guilty about it, because that's the way I was taught. I don’t fault anyone, I am sure their motives were well intended…but the fact remains that there are times that I do doubt God.
Doubt can lead us away from God, but when we have a heart and desire to really know what God says about our doubts we can actually have more depth in our walk with God. Join us this week as we look at Genesis 32:22-29 and continue our series, Everyday Disciple.
Have you ever become involved in something and realized, this is way more than I thought it would be? Sometimes things work themselves out but at times we wish we had taken more time to count the cost. Jesus gave a us a picture why we should count the cost of being His disciple. Join us this week as we look at Luke 14:25-33 and continue our series, Everyday Disciple.
What do you think of when you hear the word "Disciple"? Sometimes we can get hung up on what we believe and who is right, and we forgot to do what we say we believe. Over the next several weeks we will take a look at what it means to be Everyday Disciples.
This week we'll look at Luke 9:23-25 and see why, as “Everyday Disciples”, we're called first and foremost to make Jesus Christ the center of everything. Not part of our life, but our whole life.

This isn't just the end of a 3-week series, but rather a launching point for what God is doing within our church family. Stacey O'Donnell shares the vision that the Lord has laid on her heart for how the church can be connected as a family unit. We hope this encourages you today!
As we jump in to the second week of our Vision Series, we get to hear two testimonies about our call as a church! We'll be challenged to consider in what ways do we model ourselves after the church in Acts 2, and how each of us can be a part of what God is doing at CCC and our community. This week we are wrapping up our summer series, Face to Face: Encounters with Jesus, with a familiar story. Due to the choices he made, Zacchaeus was a man who no one liked. He was wealthy, but became wealthy by exploiting his own people. No wonder nobody liked him! But for some reason he made a choice to seek out Jesus and this encounter changed Zacchaeus' life, not just in the here and now but for eternity!
What does it look like to be changed by really understanding how God sees us? This week in John 9:5-12 we will see the blind man not just receive physical sight, but spiritual sight as well. I want to live seeing the world, others, and most importantly myself the way God sees me! Believing that God sees me and loves me will change me. That is what spiritual sight is all about!

We have the privilege of living in a community with other followers of Christ. While doing so we can encourage one another and build each other up, but we must be connected to others in the congregation and seek ways to encourage those who are disconnected.
As followers of Christ we bear with one another, forgiving each other as Christ taught us to do. God has gifted each of us with a unique set of qualities and gifts to help one another follow Jesus. We'll look at Colossians 3:10-17 this week as we continue our series, "One Another"!
Christians are called to walk with one another toward holiness, bearing one another's burdens in times of struggle. How can we look after each other in practical ways as we walk toward holiness? At times, you will need to take the load for another; other times, they will bear the load for you.
As followers of Christ, how are we to treat those in our church, workplace, or school? What about those in our homes or neighborhoods? We are called to a spirit of humility and service, and are given the privilege to submit to one another. We are called to do so regardless of age, gender, social status, or race, just as Christ loved us and gave himself for us.
What does it look like when you, or others in your life, have "been with Jesus"? For Peter and John, it meant that they couldn't NOT speak about what they had seen and heard! Today we'll continue looking at Acts 4, and what the Bible says about living in the POWER of the resurrection.
Jesus is ALIVE, and today we'll hear about what it looks like live in the POWER of the resurrection, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. The Holy Spirit empowered the apostles, and a provided a connection to God and a purpose that they didn't have before.
