This week I'm taking a quick look at how to rebook your clients, and why you should always ask clients when they'd like to come - or even better, tell them! It's not rocket science as it only involves asking them a simple question, but what you might have to get past is the fear of asking! I'll tell you why you shouldn't be scared, and I'll give you some suggestions about what you might like to say.

As always, get in touch if you've enjoyed the podcast, or if you've got a question about growing your holistic and complementary therapy business - sarah@sarahwoodhousetherapy.co.uk, or you can find me on Instagram at @sarahwoodhousetherapy and @sarahwoodhousesupport.

Much love, Sarah

This weeks blog is in response to a question received from a lovely Reflexologist down in West Sussex. She says, "My question is about friends that become clients and how to navigate the situation where they feel entitled to freebies or think that the cancellation policy doesn’t apply to them as they’re your friend."

I’m going to explore what you can do to address situations like these, and how to stop them happening again in the future.

As always, please drop me a line at sarah@sarahwoodhousetherapy.co.uk if you've got any questions, or if you've got a topic you'd like me to cover.

Late arrivals, cancellations and no shows are something that crop up all the time on Facebook forums and when I talk to therapists. In this episode I'll explore what you might want to do when a client arrives late, cancels their appointment last minute - or even worse, fails to turn up.

This week I'm looking at special offers and discounts and whether or not they're really good for business. There seems to be an assumption that they're something we should offer as a matter of course - but (no surprises here) I disagree!

As always I'm here to answer any questions, and love to hear what you think of the podcast so far...it's nice to know I'm talking to at least someone!

Are you feeling overwhelmed by social media? Perhaps you're finding it too much, perhaps you haven't started because it's already making you feel anxious? This weeks podcast is all about managing social media the way you want to - not the way you're told you should. Remember, this is your holistic and complementary business, this is your health and wellbeing.

As always drop me a line if you're a Reflexologist, Reiki practitioner or Bowen therapist and you have any questions - you can reach me at sarah@sarahwoodhousetherapy.co.uk, or if you're on social media you can find me @sarahwoodhousesupport and @sarahwoodhousetherapy (oh the irony - I need to give one of these accounts up!).

You can find the '12 weeks of marketing content' sheet on my website at: https://sarahwoodhousesupport.podia.com/resources, and it will give you 25 social media posts plus lots of ideas of how you can use those posts for other marketing content, for example blogs, websites, leaflets etc.

This week I've got a very special guest - the lovely Nicky Newton who many of you may remember as one of my co-presenters on Four Therapists and a Chit Chat! Our subject this week is all about outsourcing the stuff you're not great at and why it makes perfect business sense to be focusing on treating your clients rather than spending all day crafting a newsletter you still hate at the end of the day!

As always, drop me a line to let me know if you found the podcast useful and if you've got any burning questions or topics you'd like me to cover!

Following on from last weeks episode where I talked about the need to make sure you work within the Advertising Code when it comes to using client reviews, Karen Davison has asked,

"How can you really get across to future clients that Reflexology is for them? Someone may be looking for support with menopause, backpain etc. and may look for those words when searching [online] to support what they need. How can we reach those people if we can only say ‘supports wellbeing, aids sleep, helps relaxation, releases tension'?"

So this weeks episode is all about how you can get those keywords into your marketing without breaking any rules.

If you've got any questions or topics you'd like me to cover in future episodes then please email me at sarah@sarahwoodhousetherapy.co.uk, you can follow me at @sarahwoodhousesupport, and of course there are loads of great support tools at: https://sarahwoodhousesupport.podia.com/.

See you next week!

Welcome back, it's great to be back as we have all missed you. This month we talk about challenges.  We all face challenges in our business, our working life, family life and sometimes it can feel totally overwhelming.  In this month's podcast Millie shares with us her challenges of working full-time in a demanding job that gives her no time to set up and get her business going.  We discuss how due to the challenges that the four of us are facing we have made a decision about the podcast. Amanda shares with us how she often works out the cost of something on how many treatments that will take and Sarah shares that reaching out to family, friends and other therapist can help that feeling of being overwhelmed.

Just remember if you are facing challenges you are not on your own, reach out because there is always someone willing to listen, to help and to support.

Are business cards, leaflets and PR a waste of time, money and resources when it comes to promoting your complementary and holistic therapy business?

Spoiler alert - No!!!

In the last episode of the series we look at how these stalwarts of promotion can be used to promote your small business in a really personal way just by giving them a bit of a modern twist.

Other than social media, what marketing tools have you used to promote your business? What ones worked for you, and what didn’t work so well? As always we’d LOVE to hear!

And finally, as this is the final episode of this series just a reminder of how much we love talking to people on the podcast, so if you have any suggestions about what you’d like us to talk about, or if you want to come on the show - either to pick our brains or to share something you think other complementary and holistic therapists might be interested in - get in touch!

As complementary and holistic therapists it’s in our nature to look after others, but do you look after yourself as much as you encourage your clients to look after themselves?

This week on Four Therapists and a Chit Chat we’re talking about the importance of self-care, and how easy it is to forget to look after ourselves and instead focus on others, using every other spare moment we have on our businesses.

We look at little ways you can adapt self-care habits you already have, such as sleeping or having haircuts, into moments of joy, moments to breathe, and moments to just be. We also explore how the simple act of diarising activities that have nothing to do with your business but everything to do with your health and well-being, and writing them in pen can help you step away from your business and create some much needed ‘me-time’.

Bonus material this week include tips from Amanda and Nicky about how to deal with ulcers and how to keep your mattress fresh!

So have a listen and see if you’re as guilty as we are of using haircuts as a chance to catch up with emails, or pretending an afternoon at the beach is a chance to relax when really all we’re thinking about are inspirational pictures we can take for our social media!

Much love, Sarah, Nicky, Millie and Amanda

This week we're delighted to be joined by Natasha De Grundwald to talk about her 30 years in complementary and holistic health and her journey from Thai Yoga Massage teacher, to Bowen therapist, to author, coach, trainer, and podcaster.

We also explore the idea of mixing therapies, helping clients to understand what they need as oppose to what they want, and the importance in investing in ourselves in order to help our businesses grow.

We're just four holistic therapists talking about the highs and lows of the life, laughing and learning along the way.  And remember, if you'd like to be a guest speaker then just drop us a line!

Welcome to 2022 - and welcome back to Series 6 of the Four Therapists and a Chit Chat podcast!

In this episode we catch up after the Christmas lull and like many people at the beginning of a New Year talk about what our intentions are for 2022.

The key thing we find is all of us our struggling with balancing our businesses, our home lives and a need to find some time for ourselves. We want 2022 to be the year we actually work towards achieving a better balance through setting targets, intentions, structuring our working week and making sure - on the advice on Nicky and Millie - that we don’t overwhelm ourselves with massive ‘to do’ lists with vague dates.

How about you? Have you set any intentions for the year ahead and how have you done it - is it single intention or have you got several things you want to do? Have you drawn up a list with dates and times, or have you, like Sarah, created a vision board to inspire you to achieve?

As always we’d love to hear what you’re doing.

Love, as always, Sarah, Nicky, Millie and Amanda

With 2021 drawing to a close we thought it was a chance to reflect, and to take a look about how we're feeling about 2022.  With Nicky and Amanda eager for 2022 start, Sarah and Millie are postponing 2022 for a while.  We reveal how at times we've all felt concerned about the impact of Covid and lockdowns on our businesses, how many of us are having to supplement our income with part-time or (in the case of Millie) full-time jobs, and how social media can sometimes fool us into thinking everyone but us is having a bumper time with clients.

We also get slightly distracted and start talking about CPD for the year ahead.

As always, we're just four holistic and complementary therapists having a chat, sharing our ups and downs, highs and lows.  If you want to be a guest on the show, or if you have a question for us just email us care of sarah@sarahwoodhousetherapy.co.uk.

Have a wonderful break - and we'll see you on the other side!

Much love, Sarah, Nicky, Amanda and Millie

Hello!

We're four therapists practising Reflexology, Bowen Therapy and Reiki who come together each week to talk about what life is like being a holistic therapist - the ups, the downs, the highs and the lows!

This week we continue with last weeks theme which was all about how hard it can be to set up your own holistic therapy business. We start by talking about money and why setting realistic financial targets is important, and end up talking about how important it us to know why you’ve become a therapist, the important role time has to play as a resource in your business, and why confidence, hard work and determination are key to growing your therapy business the way you want to.

Next week: diaries vs booking systems, cancellation policies and enforcing it, taking deposits and payments are all on the agenda. As always, let us know your thoughts and we’ll try and include them in the podcast!
