The NCWA and The Texas Collegiate Wrestling Foundation (TCWF) are thrilled to welcome Coach Grant Leeth as the new leader for Tarleton State University's NCWA Intercollegiate wrestling program. The establishment of this new team, chartered just last month, marks a significant development in Tarleton State's skyrocketing academic and athletic growth. A much overdue episode with Emily Sindoni and Zoe Griffith, two of NY's top girl wrestlers.

Sindoni and Griffith just competed at Fargo where Griffith was a 16u Womens Freestyle National Champ at 138lbs and Emily Sindoni was a runner up in JR Womens Freestyle at 127lbs.

Sindoni is a recent graduate of Tioga and Griffith just finished her sophomore year at Gouverneur.

Sindoni ends her high school career a 2x NHSCA National Champ, 2x Fargo Runner Up and a NYS Girls State Champ.

Griffith adds to her resume with a Fargo National Title and a NHSCA runner up this spring.

Sindoni is attending D'Youville to compete for the Saints in the fall.

NY native Brian Vutianitis has an interesting story from starting wrestling in 8th grade to now the head coach for the D1 Presbyterian Women's Wrestling Program. Brian started his journey at Warwick Valley under coach John Canty. He then wrestled in college at SUNY Cortland under Brad Bruhn and Ryan LeBlanc before getting into coaching at his own club, Vision Wrestling Club then Coker College before landing as an assistant at Presbyterian for the Men's and Women's Programs.

Two days after stepping on the podium at the D1 NCAA Wrestling Championships, Anthony Noto jumps on MorWrestling for a rundown. Anthony was a 4x NYS Champ for Honeoye Falls Lima in Section 5. Noto began his college career at NC State before transferring to Lock Haven where he has won 2 MAC Conference Titles and recently took 4th at the NCAA's as just a sophomore.

New York native, Adam Greene has been hired as the first head coach of the men's wrestling team at Utica University.  On September 22nd, Utica University announced the addition of three new sports, Men's and Women's Wrestling.  Within 24 hours of the announcement, I brought on Athletic Director David Fontaine to discuss the additions to the university which you can listen to on Episode 67. 

Adam Greene comes to Utica with roots in NY both at the high school and college levels. in high school, Adam was a 4x NYS qualifier and a NYS place finisher for Chenango Valley in Section 4.  In college, Greene wrestled for Oneonta State where he later started his coaching career as an assistant for coach Duane Ritter.  Adam also started the NAIA program at Sienna Heights and spent time coaching at Brandon HS in Florida.

Carlene Sluberski joins the podcast to talk about her path through women's wrestling. Carlene is the first female to place at the NYS Wrestling Championships placing 2nd in 2009. She went on to win a Junior National title in Fargo before her competitive career at Northern Michigan and Brock University. Carlene also made 2 national teams for USA wrestling. Her coaching career has brought her to the University of Cumberlands to University of Providence to Eastern Oregon and now she made her way back to NY where she has been named the head wrestling coach for the new program, D'Youville Womens Wrestling Saints. Jon Loew is a 2022 NCAA All-American for the Cornell Big Red. In high school Jon wrestled in Nassau County at Wantagh where he was a NYS Champion. Kevin Ward is entering his 9th season at the helm of Army West Point Wrestling. During his time at West Point, Ward and the Black Knights snapped a 17 win-less drought against rivals, Navy. Ward welcomed Scott Green to staff last season and recently added assistants Taylor Venz and Ian Parker. The Black Knights have quite the schedule lined up, with B1G dual as they host the Iowa Hawkeyes in November.

John Stutzman is going into his 10th year as the head coach of University at Buffalo. Before taking the helm at his alma mater, Stuzman spent 11 years at Bloomsburg, 8 as a head coach. During his time at Bloomsburg, Stutzman had 3 NCAA All-Americans and led his huskies to a top 15 ranked team in the country. While at Buffalo, Stutzman has brought the Bulls to new levels. Last year the Bulls went 12-6 and 7-2 in MAC duals finishing 4th at the MAC tournament.

Mike Grey is the David Dunlop '59 Head Coach of Wrestling for the Cornell Big Red. Coach Grey just finished his 1st season as head coach where his team finished 7th at NCAA's with Yianni Diakomihalis winning his 3rd NCAA Title, Vito Arujau finished 3rd and Jon Loew finished 7th.  Cornell was also the Ivy League Champs and brought the E.I.W.A Title back to Ithaca.  Mike Grey talks about his first year at the helm as well as what he has learned from Rob Koll and the coaching tree of Cornell as well as what to expect in the future for the Big Red.

The 2022 D1 189lb NYS Champ and MOW Kole Mulhauser and 2022 D2 160lb Champ and MOW Carter Baer make an appearance fresh off their titles over the weekend. I've watched these two grow up from 99lb middle-schoolers to some of the best wrestlers in the state and even the country.  Having Kole on was long overdue, like Baer he has had a lot of success in HS and getting into all of that might be for another episode. The two friends have been training together for years at the Grainhouse Wrestling Club and were both named M.O.W's after their NYS Titles this past weekend. A true icing on the cake for both wrestlers!!  Baer is committed to Binghamton University and Mulhauser to Princeton University.

After being named the Associate Head Coach at Army West Point, Scott Green is back in NY. The western New York native started his career in Section 6 before attending Binghamton University. After graduating from Binghamton he spent the next 18 years in the 607 coaching at the HS level at Oxford HS and college level at Binghamton U. While in the 607 he coached multiple NYS Champs and molded young wrestlers into successful athletes.  Guys like Jon Jones, Art Jones, Troy Nickerson, J.P O'Connor, Kyle Dake, Donnie Vinson to name a few. He spent 11 years at Wyoming Seminary where his teams won 2 national prep titles.  We are glad to have Coach Green back in the Empire State!!
