When I'm working with psychiatric patients, it is a huge advantage to be able to read their body language. There is often a lot of shame, anxiety, and deceit in conversations, with people who have been sectioned for criminal and often violent behaviour, so I like to focus on what is being communicated, even though it's not being said verbally. This episode is about a recent conversation I witnessed recently.

British entrepreneur Alam Ghafoor was in Dubai, when he was abducted, tortured, and presented with two choices…death or life imprisonment. Alam's 20 years of experience in psychology, negotiation, and mastery of his own body and emotions was tested.

Alam was falsely accused of planning the horror of the terrorist attack on the London Underground, on 7th July 2005.

Alam and I spoke about how he was able to cope with this extreme situation and other challenges in his life.

Welcome to the Winston Williams podcast. As you may have guessed, I'm your host Winston. So maybe you found this podcast directly through me through my social media website, or you've been recommended by someone because they know that you believe in growth mindset.

What is growth mindset to me is the idea that we want to be better as people we're aiming for perfection. And as perfection is unachievable, it leaves us on this constant journey to improve ourselves, to become better partners, spouses, parents, employees, and business owners. As we become better people, the world becomes a better place, but with my background in psychology and as a social pedagogue and helping people with psychiatric treatment, I've learned a few skills that I use in my coaching work as a narrative coach, and I help people discover their values and make plans of action to improve their life there.

If you're interested in hearing about my experiences and the practical advice I give to my clients and the people around me, please subscribe to the podcast and you can follow him on social media here. You'll get a good idea of who I am and you can listen to some of the interviews I have with people in this area of development and personal growth. If you know anyone who believes in personal development, anyone who wants to create happiness as a result of finding their values and achieving their goals, then this might just be the podcast for them.

I look forward to bringing you some interest in discussions and practical advice that you can implement in your life. It's giving you results. Subscribe to the podcast for me on social media and write to me, you can write me a personal message or a comment, and I will get back to you. If you got any suggestions, things we could talk about, or you'd like to join me on the podcast, send me a message, and let's make it happen. But for now, until next time, have a great day.
