In this episode, Allen and I tackle a hot topic. Salvation. Why are so many people doubting their salvation - in churches? Churches are perpetuating the confusion surrounding salvation and causing saved believers to doubt that they have ever been saved. Things like knowing the date, time and place of your salvation, your behavior and preaching to your sin are just a few things churches are using to cause believers to believe they have never been saved.
This is all done in an effort to grab visitors or relocators into their membership and obtain commitment to their structure. Salvation is a serious consideration - one that is a matter of life and death - and it should be understood. So why do most churches wait until the end of a service to talk about the most important decision a person will ever make? Why do we rely on six or seven verses read to someone in five minutes to solidify their salvation. Salvation is based on faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone, by God's grace alone. Believe on the name of Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. Churches are making it confusing, dropping the ball afterward and using salvation as a way to develop members for their church - not the body of Christ. If you have ever watched someone in your church claim that they weren't previously saved, after believing they were - ask yourself why?
Churches - stop planting the seeds of doubt for your own financial greed. The Holy Spirit is the only one who confirms salvation. Not you.

What is the difference between being in doctrine and indoctrination? It's HUGE !!!!!
Many churches work on convincing you that 'what they believe' focuses on the Bible. They even include biblical references so that you will 'line-up'.
I've heard many preachers and pastors tell people 'you can check me' or 'go to your own bible', only to find the their preaching already had an objective in mind - and it wasn't from God.
This is a dangerous time in the church today. People trust their pastors more than they trust God. They have been indoctrinated to believe that everything the pastors says is true - CHECK YOUR BIBLES !!!!

Jeremiah 23:1 โWoe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.โ
In this episode, Allen and I talk about the important responsibilities that Pastors and Preachers have in a church. The buck stops with them! More and more people are leaving churches because leadership in the church has made it a business organization. Pastors are heavy shepherding, shaming and even lying to their members, all in an effort to increase the bottom line. There are truly many great churches out there that follow the standard that Jesus Christ set forward. Unfortunately, people have become complacent in holding their church leadership accountable.
It is up to every single member of a church to take control of your Christianity and your Christian growth. Churches shouldn't have to continue with suggestive financial preaching, shaming and blaming and lying to their members. Finding the right church is a matter of life and death. Make it that important.

There is a spiritual revolution coming! Revival's are great, but they tend to be temporary - inciting short-term, short-lived, excitement in the church. Most churches are having more than 3 revivals a year - and even then, they have the appearance of a fundraiser more than a revival of The Spirit.
Churches should pay attention. There won't be any lines for different denominations in the Kingdom of God. Of course, we are talking about biblical churches. Christians should be submitting to the will of God, discipling others, reading their bibles and honoring God.
In this episode, Allen and I have an in-depth conversation on the responsibility of local church leaders and congregants (both members and casual attendees). It's time to level-up and step-up in serving the Kingdom.

In this episode, Allen and I talk about what it takes to be a disciple, to be discipled or to disciple someone else. There is a lot of confusion that there are qualifications or requirements to disciple someone or to be discipled. The one true fundamental is that you must have trust and faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior. That's it! There are qualities such as biblical knowledge, desire, integrity and be willing to learn to name a few. There are no special requirements, no length of time at a church, no teaching certificates. People have confused the biblical requirements of a pastor or preacher (bishop), elder or deacon with that of discipling someone or being a disciple.
All-to-often there are special groups that would rather point the finger at what they believe someone is not doing, based on their agenda, instead of pointing their fingers to God. We don't believe in pointing out everything that is wrong - but we aren't perfect. We take a biblical approach to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, refer to God as our standard and believe the Bible is the only true doctrine of Christianity. We have a love and passion to grow closer to our Lord and Savior and we have hope that you will too.

*In this episode, Allen states that Adam was created in God's image - that we weren't. ย He clarifies this by saying, Adam and Eve were created in the image of God - man/mankind has fallen away from God because of their sin nature. ย At the time that Adam and Eve were created, they were created in the image of God. ย God is sinless. ย Allen was simply saying that sin and sin nature is not the image of God. ย Our desire is that no one would be discouraged by our words, we hope this is clear in our attempt to explain things on our podcast.

In this episode, Allen and I talk about what "transformed by the renewing of your mind". It's vitally important to look at the context of the Bible when reading verses, chapters and books within it. So many people take scripture out of context, or sadly, they don't even look at the context in which it was written. Take the time to pray over what you are reading, listen to the Holy Spirit and look at the context in God's word.

Fellowship - a term that is often misused, overused and used lightly. When talked about biblically, fellowship mean to gather together as Christians and believers.
The worldly definition of fellowship is;
The companionship of individuals in a congenial atmosphere and on equal terms.
Friendship; comradeship.
A close association of friends or equals sharing similar interests.
In the Bible, fellowship is held to high regard. Fellowship within the apostles included eating together, prayer and learning in a way that honored Jesus Christ. It didn't mean that they gathered for a sporting event.

Being Deliberate is taking action. Whether it is in our faith, in our sin or in our relationships - when we are deliberate, things can happen.

* During this episode - around the 25-minute mark - I speak to an online conversation I had with someone regarding the Gospel of Mark - more specifically the end of the book of Mark. I misspoke in saying that this portion of the Bible was not divinely inspired. During this conversation, I explained that translators had added the ending of the gospel of Mark - because it appeared there was no ending in the original texts/manuscripts. Texts were taken from the other gospels to revise the ending of the gospel of Mark, or to create an ending. Sometimes this text is presented as not being included in other translations. Whatever the case is, I believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired word of God. I believe that everything contained in the Bible was inspired by God, to be written and later included in the Bible.

Is what you feed your soul important? It's very important. As Christians, we can become malnourished. We need to feed on things like the Word of God, biblical preaching and prayer. We have to be in constant communion and fellowship with God to take care of our souls. And it's equally important as we feed others.

Temptations, as if sin isn't hard enough - now we have to deal with temptation. Grow stronger in the Lord and your temptations can be weakened. In this episode, Allen and I talk about temptation and how important it is to look to God.
Lust is our biggest temptation - and it isn't always sexual desire. Lust is desiring something. We continually deal with lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, lust of deception, etc. Our flesh makes us weak. God can make us strong.
1 Corinthians 10:13 โThere hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.โ

Allen and I talk about a recent study and devotion about The Testimony, our testimony and what a testimony is and what it should mean.
What is our testimony?
In the case of the verse above, it is the covenant between God and the people of Israel. It was written on stone tablets to be placed inside the ark. The testimony, or covenant, described the understanding between God and His people. It was the behavior between the two, an agreement of sorts. It is how the people were expected to behave and how God would respond to their behavior. It wasnโt just what was written. It was the understanding. It is better known as the Ten Commandments.
The Testimony was so important, most of the Old Testament surrounds it. It was the Law from God.
The word testimony is also used throughout the Bible. It is used in the sense of a witnessing to verify truth claims and standards. So much so, that two witnesses are generally required to support such testimony.
Sound similar? It should, a Christian usually uses this word to describe how they came to know Jesus Christ. Our testimony is our story of what brought us to seek salvation.
Our testimony is our covenant with God. Our behavior, our commitment and our obedience to Him. Our testimony is what our relationship with God looks like. Itโs what it looks like on the outside and on the inside. Itโs what others see and what we project.

People usually do a great job of pointing out the deficiencies of others. It's much more difficult to conduct a self assessment. Don't worry so much about what others are doing or not doing - take a look at yourself and do an honest inspection.
Are you reading enough Bible? Are you in constant communication with other Christians? Do you pray often? Worship?
What we do will either influence, persuade or encourage others. Take a look at what you are putting into and in front of yourself, because what you put yourself in front of and what you put inside of you - is what you others will see.

John 14:15 โIf ye love me, keep my commandments.โ
John 8:42 โJesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.โ
We should never attempt to have a conditional relationship with God. "If" is a conditional statement that is usually followed by a choice. Jesus says in John 14:15 - "If ye love me, keep my commandments" - to show proof that we love God - we should keep His commandments. We can choose to keep His commandments or not. This is free will.
However, we should never place these choices on God - we don't go to God and give him an ultimatum or a choice. Too many times we take what we want, our demands, to God in prayer. And many times if we feel God has failed to provide what we want - we get angry at God.

In this episode, Allen and I discuss the slippery slope of being convinced over being convicted. The Holy Spirit is the only one that can convict you of something, man convinces you. You can only be indwelled with the Holy Spirit if you have given your life over to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
Nowadays it doesn't take much to be convinced of what the world wants for you. It's dangerous, reckless and not to mention, not of God, to live for the things of the world. Although we physical live in the world, we don't have to spiritually live for the world.

The Social Gospel is NOT The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Unfortunately too many people are using their great platform as preachers, influencers, disciples, friends, family to talk more about what is going on in society instead of talking about Jesus Christ. Faith in Jesus Christ should be greater than our fears in society. When we create dissent and foster anger towards our government, mandates, laws and society in general - we are taking our focus on off the Kingdom of God. As believers, we know better.

Allen and I discuss the current trend in social media and society of preaching and teaching the fix that society will never have on this world. God IS IN control. We are reminded through scripture that Jesus Christ preached of the dangers of this world. Our strength and peace comes from Him - The Comforter.
Yes, these things are concerning - with topics like abortion, Afghanistan, the presidency, masking and vaccinations - it is easy to take our eyes off of God. As believers, citizens of Heaven, children of God and disciples - we should be pointing others to Christ - not waving the shiny objects of the world in front of them. Enough is enough. In this episode, Allen and I discuss privilege and obligation in our Christianity.
We talk about our thoughts on the matter and questions that come up in social circles about Christians.
Do we behave like we are privileged because we are Christians or do we treat our Christianity as an obligation?
It is a privilege to be a Christian, not a right. God freely gives His grace, unlimited favor, for all that we have done as sinners. But we must choose that - it is not a guarantee just because we are human.
Not everyone will accept Jesus Christ as their savior. Not everyone will believe on Him. Not everyone will believe He is God.
Do we treat our Christianity as an obligation or a role to fulfill because of family tradition or because we donโt know any better? Do we check the boxes of religion because we have an obligation?
What are your obligations to the Kingdom of God as a Christian?
Do we think we are privileged because we are Christians? Do you think we are โowedโ something for being โgoodโ or better than someone else? What should we deserve for being sinners?
We can look at being a Christian in two ways. Do we act like being a Christian brings us privelege? Or, do we believe we are obligated to bring glory to the Kingdom of God?

We know the fruits of the Holy Spirit as love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance - according to Galatians 5:22. ย How well do we strive to be Christ-like so these fruits grow within us? ย Our relationship with God will produce these fruits - but only if we nurture them and listen to the Holy Spirit.

Wow! What an episode. We weren't even sure where our conversation with Rob was going - it was suspenseful to say the least - but well worth it. In this new segment/series, Allen and I will take the word we use during the Word of the Week segment and talk about how it is applied in our daily living. This week we discuss Salvation and what it looks like to have eternal salvation and to live with eternal salvation daily. We should not take our salvation for granted. The mere fact that God sent His son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, which would reconcile us to Him will never be enough for us to bring glory to Him every day.

In today's episode Allen and I talk about how distracting things can be - especially current events. Ever amazed, like we are, how easy it is to get distracted by things that aren't of God? The media does a good job of it, churches do a good job of it and our lives are filled with it.
We get distracted because we allow it to happen. Less than 50% of church attendees read their Bible outside of church. FACT! Plenty of churches encourage bible reading, in services, but most don't even provide a means for bible studies, small groups or discipleship programs. If your church isn't providing or encouraging these methods - ask why not!
One of the ways your relationship with God will flourish is by getting in His Word.
Start spending more time on a relationship that will last longer than a lifetime!!!!

UPDATE 08/24/2021 - In this episode Bill states that a church that he recently attended did not allow secular movies or music - what he meant by this statement was this - that they suggest to their members/visitors that they not watch movies with content that is profane, vulgar, horrific, violent or sexual in nature. A lot of worldly or secular movies would not be watchable according to their suggestions.

Denominational division is a result of doctrinal change that is created by man.
Man created denominations - and man will teach you why their 'religion' IS the 'religion' for you and why it is better than every other 'religion'.
Religion is the surface and a relationship with God is the substance.
A relationship with God is based on your knowledge of the Bible, inspired by the wisdom of God, through an understanding of the Holy Spirit.
A relationship with God must include a biblical doctrine based on truth; not the subjective, contextualized, interpretation of man.
***Update - my comments on apologetics (defending the faith) may come across in a way that is different from what I portrayed. Apologetics is necessary in the process of conversion and for defending the Christian faith when needed. We should all be ready to defend our faith, biblically. I only meant that I am not as astute in this area as some, although I believe I can hold my ground. I believe wholeheartedly in the apologetics movement and that it is absolutely necessary in the Christian faith.
We do NOT believe in a watered-down doctrine, ecumenicalism or that all religions and denominations are created equal. Do you homework, research what you base your relationship with God on and read your Bible. There are great resources out there - but you should always, always, always know what you are looking at, reading and listening to.

Don't let the title fool you - we don't have all the answers, not even most of them, but the Bible does. In this episode, Allen and I discuss what it takes to raise children that have a good foundation and are grounded in God's word. Just like most of our other episodes it takes us a while to get on track, we lost track and then we try and recover.

After taking a short break, we are back and getting after it again. This time Allen and I discuss doctrine. Not just any old doctrine or belief, but biblical doctrine. Many organizations and churches like to persuade people that they are using biblical doctrine - so why don't they just call it that instead of Statement of Faith, What We Believe or Statement of Belief? Most churches have an accurate doctrine that reflects the Bible, but it is your job to make sure it follows the Bible. Our episode is challenging you to research the doctrine you are putting yourself in the middle of.
As Christians, our biblical doctrine should be defended, guarded and taken a stand for. Aside from biblical doctrine used in a church, you should be aligned with accurate biblical doctrine on a personal and professional level. Knowing the Bible and having and understanding through a relationship with God will develop a strong biblical doctrine that can guide your life.

**In this episode I'm not sure if I explained properly my understanding of where the soul goes after physical death. ย Here is my understanding from the Bible. ย If you have placed your trust and faith in Jesus Christ and have eternal salvation, when you die here on earth your soul leaves your body and goes to Heaven. ย During the tribulation as explained in Revelation and other books of the Bible, your body will be resurrected and take on a new form in Heaven or on the way to Heaven to join your soul. ย The body you have now as you know it will not exist until it takes on the likeness of Christ after the tribulation. ย I'm not a Bible scholar. ย So if you have a better explanation - let me know. ย

**Correction - In this episode I (Bill) mentioned that I was saved, twice. Not possible. I remember being baptized at the age of 8 or 9, but I never remember understanding the "plan of salvation" or the true meaning of salvation. Two years ago I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior who died for my sins, was resurrected and sits at the right hand of God in Heaven. I was baptized by submersion following this and now understand my salvation and what it truly means.
Sometimes we can doubt our salvation, or if we were "saved", sometimes this doubt can be placed in us by someone else. And sometimes we are truly saved, however we have strayed from our walk with God. If you remember receiving Jesus Christ as your savior, confessing your sins before God and placing your trust and faith in Jesus by believing that He died for your sins - you have eternal salvation (i.e. you are "saved" or "born again"). Welcome to the family of God.
I intended to clear this up in the episode, but as we all know, a conversation is not a static thing - one thing led to the other, and well you know.
