Making a mistake is not a good enough reason to not forgive yourself, withhold love from yourself, be unkind to yourself. Making a mistake that’s not remedied causes guilt and that causes suffering. This simple strategy will guide you to the freedom of forgiving yourself!

A quick reminder and simplified version of ridding yourself of guilt over how you’ve treated your kids and others awaits! If we want to be truly free to naturally be kind, we have to dissolve the learned parts of ourselves that hold on to the idea that we’re bad and should feel guilt. Our job is to blossom ourselves, not devalue ourselves and if we’ve been mean to someone, it will store in the unconscious mind and guilt will arise to haunt us.

Self-honesty, a few minutes, and 6 simple steps to letting go of guilt and finally giving ourselves the kindness of forgiveness. This is one of the most helpful exercises I’ve ever done to dissolve guilt.
Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
What are the stumbling blocks to giving yourself kindness? You can’t hate yourself into being a better person, so that thinking needs to go. Believing that you’re not good enough, or believing you’re bad because bad things have happened to you isn’t a good reason to withhold kindness. We shouldn’t be forgiven because we’ve done bad things also isn’t a logical argument for not giving ourselves kindness. We could recognize we have done bad things because we were ignorant, and be kind to ourselves and others as atonement! That means, in case it wasn’t clear, be kind is the atonement, being kind is making up for being unconscious that we were hurting ourselves and others. See how it’s true that we are worthy!

Take a couple of minutes to think about what kindness means to you when you demonstrate it to your kids and other people. Is it kind to show patience, compassion, playfulness (when your kids want to play, for example), etc. What else can you do to show kindness to the people in your life? Can you think of someone who is kind and see how and why you would like to live like that? Can you give that same kindness to yourself—so that you are giving yourself a dose of love-flooding, pain-reducing, upset-dissolving ‘feel good hormones?’

The subtitle says it all: I don’t like them, but I want them to like me.
Why do we want the other to like us, approve of us, agree with us, fawn all over us?
Why?
To make us feel important, valued, needed, wanted, accepted, indispensable, and superior to name a few false gains from this way of living. Would you rather be peaceful, kind, and playful or important, valued, accepted, needed, wanted, indispensable and superior? That’s easy: most people have replied they’d like to be peaceful, but how? That’s what we’re here today to work on.
Anyone can use this strategy, but you’ll have to hold on and wait for the wisdom of it to resonate with you. You will have to use it and have the personal experience of it helping you regulate yourself from protest into peace when your kids or your partners kids are acting out.
Wanting what the other wants for themselves doesn’t mean we don’t have wants and needs that need to be met. It means we cause ourselves less stress by not controlling others.
Support runs both ways. We want others to support us, and they want us to support them. Can we do that and find peace?
By understanding that we have two natures operating us and driving our behaviors, we can learn to be okay with others (our kids and partners kids) acting out and not engaging.
As Rumi says, There are two lives being lived. Stay in your heart by using a strategy like HeartMath or any of The Kid Code strategies when your kids or your partners kids are acting out and when you achieve the superpower of wanting what they want in the moment and giving consequences from a place of wanting well-being for them, you are a peaceful, positive parent.
Do you have a fifteen-minute drive you’re taking today? Have a listen to see if you can use some of these strategies like ‘the complaint fizzle’, making stories up while doing jobs to make jobs more fun, the solution oriented family conflab once a week meeting, calming down to communicate so we don’t teach that being upset is the way to be heard, and transition days techniques to help with shared space success.
What ideas do you have to make your house a shared space success?
There are simple ways to dissolve the idea that you will only be valued if you do, do, do. Reflection and self-care are the solutions to ending overwhelm and burnout. Once you do these few simple exercises you will feel like a new person and show up for your kids in the more clear, joyful way.

It doesn’t feel like it in an upset with our kids or anyone else, but there are only two states to be in right after the upset arises: presence or pain.
In the state of presence, we feel calm, centered and unbothered. Why do we feel unbothered in the state of presence? Because there is no past or future in the present. There are no old patterns, old emotions, old wrongs done to us, and there are no future worries or wants.
Upsetting emotions have made us their servant and we’re not happy in that position.
The pain in an upset comes from an identity, an opinion, an old thought, it comes from the I know it all mind. In the moment of upset, we become know it all’s, especially as parents. We’re taller than them, after all, we should know more! The I know it all mind wants to control others and the situation, which is painful. Notice every time you want to control your child and notice that you don’t feel good, notice the pain.
These kinds of superpowers are waiting for you to discover them. And teach them to your kids!

1:06 The kids fighting, won’t do must do’s, resisting all commonsense suggestions, pushing back just to push back, etc.? What to do?
1:25 Let’s bring some understanding and relief to the belief, “It’s too much,” so we can fall back on our resilience.
1:50 The unsuccessful need to escape reality.
2:08 Lateral logic to dissolve the stressful belief.
Remember the box we called The Past? Use it on each mistake you made over the holidays and then move on to using these practices that cause wellbeing. A simple practice is to give 100% of your attention to watching as you get upset: watch the impatience, watch the anger and what it does, watch the hollerer as it comes out of you, etc.
They say it takes 10,000 hours of doing something to become a master at it. If you start this practice now, each time is one step closer to mastery.
Teach this to your kids so they master themselves early in life.
1:20 As always put your mistakes in The Past and move on.
1:34 Wellbeing, what is it?
2:10 Fast track to wellbeing: notice the upset and watch it, watch the tears as they fall, watch impatience, watch the anger make you act out, watch yourself holler, etc.
2:55 The know-it all won’t help, this will.
Family holidays bring connection, but they also bring train wrecks. What to do?
As always, bless yourself and others for their mistakes and move on.
Learn from the mistake and leave it in the past where it is. Journal about your part in the upset. Make an imaginary box at the entrance to your house called The Past and once you’ve learned something from an upsetting event, place it in the box.
Volunteering is vital. There is a Hindu proverb that goes something like this: help your brothers boat to the shore and yours arrives too.
Reassess your needs.
Learn something wonderful about your community, country or the world and share that on social media.
1:15 Bless the train wrecks (the mistakes) and move on down the track.
1:58 Learn from the mistake and leave it in the past where it is.
2:09 Journal about your part in the upsets. What do I need to do to help myself?
2:28 Make an imaginary box called The Past and use your imagination to dump upset feelings into the box but only do that once you have awareness about the situation because awareness is what changes us.
3:01 Volunteering: helps others fills us up.
3:25 Revisit you needs, are they reasonable, are they being met, will they actually help you.
3:33 Learn something wonderful about your community, your country, the world and share that with others (instead of gossiping, complaining or fear mongering—none of which are good for you).

Oh boy, kids are home, spaces shrink, there’s more to do and organize and tempers can heat up and boil over faster than the potatoes on the stove for Christmas dinner. What to do?
Everyone needs a designated quiet space—the toilet seat will do. Everyone needs to have a list of needs. Everyone needs to limit screen time because connection doesn’t happen on the phone, so have lots of other games and hobbies available. Let kids Google fun activities—everybody participates for a half an hour in that activity. Make the list of consequences for disruptive behaviors beforehand and when the kids act out, with all the kindness you can muster and love in your heart, refer to the list. Let everyone be in charge of a meal and full clean-up. As a family make a list of chores for each member—everyone’s space is everyone’s responsibility. Invite everyone to think about and maybe even make up a new tradition for the holidays. Download the gratitude games from parent resources on www.thekidcode.ca
Bless everyone’s mistakes because there will be many of them and it’s easier to be kind than cruel when a mistake is made.
See the book, The Kid Code for more info or take one of the online classes. You can do so in the time it takes to have a coffee break! Nobody wants to be around bad behaviors and correcting them with consequences, kindly given, starts to dissolve them.

Keep your own side of the street clean (from AA). Saying you’re sorry to your kids when you misbehave does that.
Be your own street sweeper by watching your behaviors or making a list of them and then apologizing to your kids when they appear.
Tell your kids that you feel vulnerable and at the same time retain your parental authority.
This is freedom and family building.
1:34 Keep your own side of the street clean by saying sorry to your kids.
1:45 Become your own street sweeper (picking up and moving out all of your bad behaviors and instantly apologizing to your kids for things like: disrespecting them, controlling, hollering, criticizing, judging, etc.).
2:09 Make a list of how you don’t want to be treated…
2:24 If you have a hard time apologizing because you think it makes you vulnerable or bad in everyone else’s eyes, tell them that first. Yup, that’s right you spill it. You’ll feel free, you don’t have to give up your genuine peaceful authority, and everyone’s jaw will drop to the floor.
What does the word parent mean to you? All words are sounds with our own learned meanings attached to them. This podcast is an invitation for you to reinvent yourself—or not—by considering what a parent truly is and what kind of parent you want to be. And then you make it happen—little by little. The simple exercise in this podcast will help.
Get out a pen and paper and write The Kind of Parent I Want To Be on one side and The Kind of Parent I Am on the other. Then sit quietly for a minute and see that all the descriptions and behaviors under the list The Kind of Parent I am, if they’re negative, have never once delivered what they promised. Being overly excitable, hollering, hitting, judging, criticizing, etc. have never once delivered what they promised to.
This helps us correct our own parenting behaviors—the ones we don’t like!
1:06 The word ‘parent’ is a sound that has meanings attached to it.
1:35 Get out a pen and paper and make and label two columns: The Kind of Parent I Am, and The Kind of Parent I Want To Be.
1:45 Bless yourself for each thing you write under the column (if it’s negative): The Kind of Parent I Am. Say and feel the truth of the statement, I matter more than that parenting mistake. And then make it right as best as you can.
1:53 The main purpose is to show you what you can achieve as a parent.
1:10 Ask the simple question, of these negative ways of being in the world, “Has this behavior of mine ever delivered what it promised?”

Sugar causes the crazies—but what to do? It’s my favorite food group.
I also recall seeing severe autism reduced to minor autism by cutting out all processed foods, including sugar. It was in a documentary and the child wouldn’t eat for nearly five days but when she did, she stopped her wild overreactions. Food matters and yet those foods that give us comfort also cause us discomfort—yes, life is full of paradoxes.
Kids will need a healthy body to do what they want: be a fireman, a teacher, an astronaut, a garbage collector, a restaurant owner, an electrician, a computer expert, a musician, etc. We can’t do what we love without a healthy body.
When you Google the phrase “How much sugar is in…” you will find…
Do an educational moment with your kids and sugar—more info in the podcast.
Do your best and make a couple of changes. We are all a WIP. It’s okay.
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/262978#breakfast-cereal
1:21: Autism and food
1:48 Why reduce sugar: we want the body to run like a Tesla not an old junker and it causes extra trips to the dentist, disease and makes us misbehave.
2:20: Google “How much sugar is in…”
2:23 When you Google that phrase you’ll find how much sugar is in a coke a chocolate bar, your favorite cereal, etc and you an compare and find replacements that you can enjoy
2:38 Put these foods on the counter and pour out the number of teaspoons of sugar in front of the box—the visual will help you want to make some small changes that reap big rewards.

Pressure builds, like a volcano about to explode and as I’m fond of saying, you can’t put a lid on lava, so you want to keep the lava under control. You can help yourself by taking the pressure off every few minutes before it culminates in an explosion—try this simple strategy every day this week to help yourself be a calmer parent.
It’s called simple self-care.
1:27 One way to get calm: drop your shoulders, drop your thoughts, and sink into one conscious breath as it goes in and out of the body.
2:05 Examples of when to use this strategy when kids and partners are contributing to the explosion by pushing our buttons.
Hi peaceful positive parents. I noticed my last podcast was dry as dirt, but it also has a valuable place in our lives. If we use critical thinking we save ourselves a lot of trouble. Combine critical thinking with conscious feeling and right and wrong thinking before you make decisions, so you suffer less painful consequences!
1:20 Places you can use critical thinking are what area to move to if you’re considering a move, what is the best vehicle to buy for your family, whether or not to continue with medical decisions, etc.
1:47: If you train your mind to use information and data correctly you won’t have to suffer mistaken opinions.
2:08: Conscious feeling is becoming aware of how you feel inside. Simple. But not easy!
4:05: The clearer a human being is, the easier it is to ‘know’ or ‘feel’ the truth when you hear it.
4:25: Don’t fall into confirmation bias.
4:41: Right and wrong thinking.
5:09: Common sense.
If you can determine fact from fiction, you and your kids will be more confident in, and comfortable with decisions you need to make.
Our courts use a system to help determine the truth and I’ve included some of that in this podcast. You can use this process when determining your and your child’s health decisions or on any political or cultural issue that you are involved in.
1:35 The steps for critical thinking (collecting reliable, verifiable, credible data and information, asking questions and then assessing the information to make a decision.
2:15: Important ideas to convey to your kids: truth, openness, willingness, sharing information to spark conversation and revelation.
Our kids are going to be mini-me’s with some of their own character built in. Sadhguru teaches us to be like we want our kids to be. Spend a minute or two pondering that statement. To me it means if you want your kids to be kind, take every opportunity to be kind to yourself, them, and others. If you want them to be playful, play with them and drop seriousness when you can. If you want them to contribute instead of be entitled, be grateful for everything. Pick one of these, or one of your own try it for a week and see what happens! Listen for more.
1:27: What does spirituality mean?
2:03: How to get your kids to great human beings!

Title: Correcting a Child
Subtitle: For Your Mental Health & Their Happiness
Kids learn by nudging, pushing or smashing through boundaries, depending on their personality, so you already know that they are going to push every button you have.
1:29 We don’t want to act out when our kids do!
1:45 The mental awakening smack.
2:05 Correcting the child.
When you feel like you’re beyond being able to tolerate another of your kids shenanigans without you blowing a gasket, that’s your ego blowing it for you—that’s not your True Nature. Ego is the one who hollers at kids, lectures them to death and pushes them away with impatient disapproval.
2:25 So, when you feel any upset arises, remind yourself, I’m not being myself and try one of these anchors to your True Nature taught by Mooji:
2:38 Don’t log in.
3:16 Have you ever experienced inner power?
3:41 Remind yourself that your ego has come to tempt you .
4:03 Forfeit your peace for any reason?
4:08 Don’t give attention to the I, to the ego. Don’t be trapped by the mind.
5:20 Remind yourself that you’re going to watch the tyrant in your mind until it dissolves, instead of becoming one.
If you have any questions about this podcast or would like to request strategies to help specific problems with kids, email me at brenda@thekidcode.ca I’ll help if I can.
I know you don’t want to feel upset, troubled, challenged or at your wits end, so this podcast is designed to help you with a couple of quick ways to catch yourself before you react and one idea to calm you when you feel yourself start to sink down away from your good nature.
1:39 The first part of this exercise is to notice when you being to feel upset—become aware of it. Try these 3 tricks to help you notice the upset and switch gears into a mantra that calms the crazies.
2:45 As soon as you feel a bit calmer, here’s one idea to clear the toxic emotions and thoughts: do Ho’oponopono.
There is an ancient proverb that says we didn’t come here to teach our kids, we came here to love them; love will teach them.
To help with that understanding, all day long today, think about what it is you love about your kids. When they start to challenge you and you feel your voice rising or feel like you’d like to stomp your feet and pull your hair out, think of why you love them. That doesn’t mean they don’t need correction or consequences which knocks the entitlement we put in there—right out of them, it means that we catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
1:30: When kids are challenging us
1:42: A simple strategy to help you get to love before the hair pulling wins
Everything we do is towards our own and our kid’s wellbeing. We go to work to take what we get from that to provide wellbeing for ourselves. We call a friend, hoping that will result in the feeling of wellbeing. We parent, hoping for wellbeing for the whole family.
In this episode, discover one question to ask yourself every time you parent in a way that upsets you.
1:35 What we want.
2:15 One question that can dissolve negative parenting strategies (because they are not part of your nature).
This podcast is about what to do when you feel your kids needs or your own needs are a nuisance.
2:59 Pinpoint the upset
3:24 How to free yourself from the upset
Listen in to free yourself!
Today I want to talk about the symptoms of a difficult identity and offer a bit of help. No parent wants to think about their child being a victim, but we all carry the tendency that’s minor or major or somewhere in between.
2:05 – 4:47
In this short episode, you can learn how to instantly dissolve negative thinking and negative emotions.
Once you have the hang of it, you can teach it to your kids to knock them out of entitlement and into gratitude.
Every time you have a negative thought, turn it into a positive one—or find reality! For example, we can focus on being grateful for rain because the food we eat needs it, or focus on the plans we had and feel upset. This simple strategy neutralizes the identity that has ahold of us and is causing the negative experience and delivers us back to our innately grateful nature.
Find your own examples that feel true for you because that’s what causes relief from the pain of overreaction.
1:51 Neutralizing negativity
1:55 Examples: I wish it wasn’t raining.
I’m upset that they left an empty carton in the fridge.
I’m upset that they backtalk.
That driver is a threat because they’re speeding.
Do you ever wonder why you have to repeat yourself with kids? It’s because you haven’t made a lasting impression with them. Usually, it’s because you don’t want to be a nasty parent and impose rules and boundaries that might hurt their feelings—you want to be a nice parent (who ends up feeling bad due to yelling about whatever kids leave on the floor).
Do you a 3 minutes to listen to this podcast that will help you leave your emotions at the door while you make a lasting impression on your kids—for their, and your, benefit?
1:55 Don’t want to upset our kids
2:33 Reasonable and real consequences that make an impact
2:59 What to do when they leave their stuff in the doorway
As my husband says, gratitude spreads, so become a super spreader. We talked in the last couple of podcasts on gratitude that it has immense benefits for us personally, but it also has a beautiful, fulfilling ripple effect inside of us, and with others.
Excerpt from Grumpy to Grateful, Grow Your & Your Kids Grey Matter.
When Kids (Or Others) Won’t Do Must Do’s
Grumpy…
Do you have to cajole, bribe, demand, threaten, or manipulate in order to get your kids (or others) to do what needs to be done?
To Grateful…
Showing gratitude to your kids can improve their willingness to help over and above what we would generally expect by 50%.
As mentioned earlier, Harvard Health Publishing cites research from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania who had two groups do fund-raising. One group did it the way they always had in the past and the other group received a “pep talk” from the director who told the fund-raisers she was grateful for their efforts and that group made 50% more fund-raising calls.1
What this tells us is that a little bit of gratitude goes along way. “Thank you for doing the chores,” vs. “It’s about time you did the chores.” Change your language, and you change your effectiveness and relationships.

This is from our upcoming book that is designed to help parents live more of their day in the state of gratitude, even when kid-chaos is happening. Stay tuned next week for some easy strategies to dissolve grumpiness into gratitude in a heartbeat!
2:26 The amazing benefits of gratitude: dissolves toxic emotions, increase your immune system by 50%, feel happier, better relationships, lessens stress, anxiety and improves sleep (Gopi, my co-author says it’s like a sleeping pill for him!), improves productivity, etc.
5:10 Strategies: Jordan Peterson/self-regulation, Sadhguru “be how you want your kids to be.”
To help parents and kids with food and all the fun of culinary medicine we bring you, once again, Chef Dr. Mike. As you learned last week, he is a board-certified interventional cardiologist, professional chef, and Professor of Culinary Medicine at The University of Montana.
His children’s book, coming soon (see a pic of him below)—is an offering to parents and their kids to help them relate to fun characters who teach positive messages about food rather than kids adopting ‘brand loyalty’ to companies who produce food that is dangerous to our bodies.
A bonus in this segment: studies from Harvard show cooking healthy food one night a week affects kids food choices into adulthood.
1:05: There’s an adventure-bound fairy!—to the King and Queen, no less.
2:55: Brand loyalty….to processed food.
6:30: The annoyance factor…yes, our kids are exactly that in a grocery store and some food producers and marketers use it to their advantage.

Angie Patterson, photographer extraordinaire—tells us how photography connects kids to nature, to their parents and to their own creativity. It helps them with productive screen time, (vs. brain deadening screen time) they can use it as play time—it’s a peaceful outlet, it helps them use their imaginations, and gives them something positive to focus on.
Kids can use the camera to tell a story about a caterpillar’s journey, or for older kids, they can tell a story about friends, special events or even things in their rooms. If they are feeling stress, they can go and immerse in some peaceful time with their camera—take pictures of whatever resonates with them—they can even start with their own feet!

This is our 3rd podcast with Lisa Sugarman a parenting author, a syndicated columnist, a radio show host, and—a mom—out of Boston.
Lisa’s work centers around the idea that we can all live a much more stress-free and joyful life when we learn to embrace our perfectly imperfectness. And that involves cutting ourselves and the people around us some slack and not being afraid to drop some balls once in a while.
She loves having organic and honest conversations about the benefits of positivity and the importance of letting go of pre-existing ideas and expectations. Because that’s how we create resilience and growth.
Today she talks about parenting as being a collaboration with our kids and leaves us with a few other tips, including, ‘attack the problem not the person’.
1:05 Parenting is a collaboration with your kids
3:29 Kids notice when we screw up and watch what we do about it
4:58 No value in instilling fear
8:21 Attack the problem not the person

Do your kids tattle, stick their nose in their sibling’s business? Do you have one child is too judgmental, or does your child worry about what others think about them?
I’m here once with Amanda Miller, my daughter, who as you know from our last podcast together, has been studying and practicing health and well-being for the better part of her life. She is intrigued by the complexities of human behaviour and loves working with stressed out parents to uncover the psychological contributors that are causing parents to feel out of control and disappointed in their parenting experience.
Amanda is also a trainer for Kid Code teachers, along with Lasha Watson, so if you’d like to help parents, they can show you how to do that.
Today we are going to share the strategy in the book called Whose Business Are You In? which comes from Byron Katie’s work found at www.thework.com
2:40 How good it feels not to be in other people’s business.
2:35 When one child gets something.
5:04 The actual discomfort of being in someone else’s business.

6:51 Advice giving.
8:30 When one child makes a judgment on another child.
10:05 Use it when someone is criticizing you.

I’m honored to be joined by Gregory Newson, an accomplished artist, writer, and historian with a background that gives him a unique perspective on life!
I love the idea he puts forth—that it’s time to drop victimhood! And how to escape from political correctness and tribal politics. Yes please!
He embraced the Black Panther Party looking for role models. If you make your home a safe haven, your kids will look to you as the role model.
2:40: Toxic Parents, peer pressure, sound bites of hate from my community.
6:10: The Black Panthers as role models as so-called leadership.
8:03: Analyze yourself and talk to your child like you’d talk kindly to yourself, correct yourself—in a civilized way.
10:50: Stop being surface readers! Skin color doesn’t matter to the intelligent person who knows that what lies beneath the surface matters most.

Title: Transform the Burden of a Secret, Part 2
Subtitle: Dissolve The Stress Around Secrets Without Telling The Secret
Show Notes
I’m back with Gina Nelson—an artist, writer, Energy Healing Therapist and Body Mind Counselor but most importantly, she is a mother of a 13-year-old son.
When Gina was experiencing some of her most debilitating and hidden experiences, she saw her need to become the Secret Keeper. Gina’s role is to educate and empower others to defuse and transform the energy of secrets so that each person has more energy and permission for their much-deserved joy seeking.
She hopes concepts shared during this podcast can create more self-compassion for parents and offer fun, useful tools for their children. Together we can teach ourselves and our loved ones to move away from shame and isolation and towards connection.
Gina offers us simple, but profound ways to dissolve the stressful energy around secrets. Please listen to the last podcast to learn what the S,E,C,R, and E mean in the word Secrets!
T: in the word Secret, the letter ‘t’ is to ‘tend to’.
S: Support system (great strategy for kids to learn who is part of them team—with a note by their bed!).
Gina’s upcoming book is called The Energy of Secrets, Ease the Burden of Your Secrets Without Having To Share Them.
Gina has also illustrated a book: We have created a picture book that is entertaining, teaches children how to express and deal with negative feelings, and demonstrates to parents how to assist their children in this process. A Garbage Can Day is the story of a boy who has a very bad day and thinks that he'll be sad forever. Playing the Garbage Can Day Game is the way he learns that he can choose another way. You can too! Come along on Jake's journey as he discovers the amazing power he has to recognize, share and learn how to change his emotions. One unexpected reaction from most adults with whom we have shared this story is that it seems to touch the child within and evoke memories long forgotten and often, unresolved. Many expressed that they wished a book like this had been available to them as children. We hope our story touches your heart.

In this interview with Lasha Watson, Kid Code Instructor/Teacher, Entrepreneur, Mom & Wife, you can learn how to use the strategy called ‘Attitude or Gratitude’ in The Kid Code.
Life is like a vending machine—what you put in; you get out. If you put in attitude, you get misery out. If you put in gratitude, you get joy out.
Lasha shares how their family re-wires, reframes and dissolves tension when attitude arises by naming three things they are grateful for. To encourage the kids to participate, she often shares with her kids, what she’s grateful for in her kids. The exercise skips blaming and jumps right into joy—the place we all want to be!
Because our work is about well-being, it’s good to ask kids how they want to feel when they’re done a fun activity—do they want to feel the same way when they’re done the activity as they felt when they started it (like watching TV). This helps them realize that they can self-regulate back to their nature and can skip the painful step of having a hissy fit!

:In this podcast you will hear a heart-opening reminder of how you want to send your kids out into the world.
I also share one simple life-altering strategy that helps calm the pandemonium in the pandemic. This strategy works on everyone in the house to bring them back to calmness.

In this podcast, there is a recap the connection-creating, stress-reducing Kid Code strategy called Blessing Mistakes with more ideas for Post It Notes around the house to reduce stress when a mistake happens.
There are so many good reasons to intervene with a peace-keeping strategy any time a stressful or negative state appears: one study shows that if kids had a wish, they’d wish their parents were less tired and stressed. Another shows that 1.6 million kids have behavioral problems. If there is a way of out stress the moment it appears, why wouldn’t we take it? If we stay stressed out, we’re no good to ourselves or our kids. It fractures relationships.
Everyone knows about the breath as a strategy to bring about calmness, but did you know that many Yogi’s say if you slow down and deepen your breath, you live longer? And when you get curious about what’s going on inside of you in an upset and ignore the outer world for a minute, and then add gratitude for the breath (we’re alive!), problems disappear, and solutions appear.
