✨ HER STORY - MELISSA DECARLI ✨

Julz sat down with Melissa to hear some of her story. Melissa is a creative, a photographer, business owner, psychedelic trance music lover, wife, mum and so much more. She talks about her struggles with mental health, an eating disorder, a marriage breakdown and moving cities all before she turned 30. Now remarried and a mum to a gorgeous (almost) 2 year old, Melissa realised that she needed to do the work on herself and choose to love herself, above anything else.

In today's episode we discuss:
πŸ‘‰ Melissa's struggles with disordered eating and body image
πŸ‘‰ Struggling to fit in, friendships and relationships
πŸ‘‰ The healing process of pregnancy
πŸ‘‰ Loving yourself before being loved by anyone else

If you or someone you know are struggling from disordered eating or body image, please speak to someone. The Butterfly Foundation may be able to help.

We thank Melissa Decarli (Brennan) for being so open and vulnerable when sharing some of her story with us. You can find Melissa on Instagram @hergoldenpoint or on her website www.hergoldenpoint.com

If you have a story that you'd like to share with us, please send us a DM on instagram or email us.

We asked, and you said you want more stories from our guests, so - while Em is off galavanting in Antarctica (as you do) we are bringing back one of our fav's...

This is part #2 of our interview with Justine Missen from DreamCave Photography and Film. She has now shot over 100 weddings, is booked out for weddings a year in advance and is one of the most highly sought-out wedding photographers (for non-boring couples) in the area - so it's CRAZY to think just a few short years ago, she was working as a woolclasser in a shearing shed when she picked up a camera to take some snaps of her baby girl.

In this week's episode, we talk business + mindset:

πŸ‘‰ What it was really like in those early days
πŸ‘‰ Going from Shearing Shed to Wedding Photographer
πŸ‘‰ How Justine balances being a partner, mum of young kids + business owner
πŸ‘‰ The importance of investing in yourself, and backing yourself

We hope you love hearing Justine's story. If you have an epic story that you think we should hear, get in touch with us!

Today is our second motherhood series episode where we sit down with the wonderful Lauretta Hamilton, midwife, birth educator and mum.

Lauretta discusses the importance of not predicting, but preparing for your birth - and the importance of educating and empowering yourself before you walk into your birth space.

There's only so much birth talk you can squeeze into an hour, so consider this a high level, first stop shop if you're pregnant, or thinking about starting or extending your family.

In today's episode, we discuss
πŸ‘‰ The importance of discussing the type of birth you are hopeful for, and planning accordingly
πŸ‘‰ Choosing your model of care and birth team wisely
πŸ‘‰ Why it's important to know about the cascade of interventions, particularly if you're preparing for a physiological birth
πŸ‘‰ The wonderful hormones of birth, and how to get the most out of them
πŸ‘‰ Why the language we use around birth is so important

Today we talk about the science behind everyday addictions, and what we can start to do about it. If you think you're not addicted to something (coffee, social media, your phone etc), try quitting.

In today's episode:
πŸ‘‰ Why most of us are addicted to our devices, and what we can do about it
πŸ‘‰ Alcohol, social media, sex, gambling, porn, sugar, stress and other addictions
πŸ‘‰ How we can create our own dopamine hits each day (naturally)

Let us know if you've overcome any addictions (big or small), we'd love to hear from you!

Ever wonder what it's like to be a fly on the wall in someone's deep and meaningful (D&M) chat? Well, today you can be. We don't do 'small talk'. We even try not to do 'boring talk' (how's work? etc). So, today we thought we would ask each other a series of questions, (without the other knowing what is going to be asked) and just hit record. Over the next few episodes you'll get our raw, honest answers and opinions to some of the deep questions you dread someone will ask you, a few tears and a lot of laughs. Β

Here's what we got through in part 1:
πŸ‘‰ What's an unpopular opinion you hold?
πŸ‘‰ Who do you owe an apology to?
πŸ‘‰ When is the last time you cried?
πŸ‘‰ If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
