Shalini believes beauty is not just skin deep and nurturing inner beauty is as necessary. Born to South Asian parents in sunny San Diego, Shalini’s success does not follow the time and tested diaspora route. Instead, she found her niche in the competitive world of cosmetics, building a $21 million global brand from her garage. Becoming a global influencer wasn't without struggle, especially as a woman, but Shalini persisted. After grabbing headlines as a celebrity makeup artist and best-selling author of a beauty book, this global cosmetic goddess has now donned the hat of mentor for less privileged girls and women. Shalini’s social platform Power, Beauty, Living provides love, support and empowerment to women across the world. While her cosmetic company Ready, Set, Jet has been developed especially for Indian skin tones. Shalini has conducted an art of living session for UN Women, is on the Global Advisory Council for Impact Leadership 21 with the UN and is an advisor for Women Network. She received the Mahatma Gandhi Award from the British House of Lords in 2017 and was invited by the Government of India in 2018, to empower Indian girls thru beauty. She also got the sexy and successful Award for Most Promising entrepreneur. Let’s unravel the different layers that make up this dynamic woman.

Our first guest is celebrity chef and fellow South Asian, Maneet Chauhan. We’re really excited she consented to be a part of our vision as we embark on this journey. Maneet earned her Bachelors degree from India’s top hotel management school, the Welcome Group Graduate School of Hotel Management. She interned at some of India’s finest hotels before enrolling at the Culinary Institute of America. After graduating with top honors and many scholastic achievement awards, she started her U.S. career at a family owned, fine dining restaurant in Cherry Hill, New Jersey before going on to join the Latino-Indian fusion restaurant Vermillion in Chicago; She started a branch of Vermillion in New York, where she was hailed in TIMEOUT magazine. Maneet was the only Indian female competitor on the Iron Chef and is a judge on the popular Food Network show, Chopped.
Maneet and her husband founded Morph Hospitality Group that runs four restaurants in Nashville, Tennessee. She has also authored two cookbooks. Maneet is constantly reinventing herself and is currently on the hunt for a signature spice. Let's find out the secret ingredients of Maneet’s success.
