FromThePit is an annual curated exhibition of images of New Zealand musicians playing live in New Zealand. More than anything it is a celebration of the craft and art of live music photography.

This podcast will celebrate our talented photographers that have had their images featured in the exhibitions. A deep dive into their lives as a music photographer, the stories gathered over the years and breaking down their processes.

Join us for a slightly different episode of FromThePit as we chat with Chris Cuffaro.

Legendary music photographer Chris Cuffaro sat down with us at FromThePit this week about his Greatest Hits exhibition which kicks off February 8th in Auckland. Chris Cuffaro is a renowned music photographer who has captured some of the most iconic moments in rock and roll history.

With over five decades of experience, Chris has worked with a who's who of musicians, including Nirvana, Soundgarden, Gwen Steffani, George Michael, and many more. His work has been featured in magazines, albums, and exhibitions all over the world, earning him a reputation as one of the most talented photographers in the industry.

His upcoming exhibition, "Greatest Hits," is a celebration of his career and a chance for fans to see some of his most memorable images.

On the 11th of February we also have the Photographers Workshop which will be a great workshop for anyone from those interested in joining the music photography industry all the way to those that have been shooting for 30+ years. This week Chontalle and Chris interview co-host Dave Simpson.

Do you ever feel like someone's work is undervalued?

All the way back in 2018, Dave Simpson and Reuben Raj found themselves frustrated that all the work done by New Zealand photographers was not being celebrated.

So they put their heads together and in 2019 came together and founded FromThePit, an annual curated exhibition of images of New Zealand music photography.
