Having had a passion for music from a tender age, he wrote his first song at the age of 9 and released his first single 11 years later. Kamal grew up in Gbagada, Nigeria before moving to NL for studies.

Axelle Marie is a 22-year-old Master’s student. She currently resides in the Netherlands, which is where she grew up for most of her life. However, she is born Ivorian and lived in Tanzania in the early 2000s. Tara Ndirika is a 22-year-old woman with cultural roots connecting her to Nigeria, the Netherlands, and the UK. A recent university graduate in the field of sociology, Tara is now taking a break from traditional Western academia and devoting her time to uncovering her understanding of God; the nature of interconnectivity; and spiritual development tools such as practicing conscious being, journaling, and meditation.

Noel Mzungu is a Geologist and an Environmentalist originally from Tanzania, who joined the M.Sc. program in Risk Management at the University of Cote d'Azur (France) in 2019 after completing a B.Sc. in Geology in Algeria (2017). He successfully completed two internships in the context of M.Sc. program (9 months): both of these focused on earthquakes and ground shaking where his last internship involved also a significant portion of work on clay-rich soil shrinkage-swelling and its impacts on building structures using sophisticated models.

He is now a prospective PhD candidate at Generali insurance company based in Paris, France on the subject of Buildings' reaction toward the shrinkage-swelling of clays during drought risks in a stressed context of changing climate.

In this episode, MwanaKIPAYA invites you to a conversation in which he explores Ethel's pursuit of Art, what it means to her and her experience of working in the creative industry in Ghana and Nigeria. Ethel-Ruth Tawe is a multidisciplinary artist, editor, and creative consultant, exploring African identity and diaspora cultures through visual storytelling. She holds an MSc in Development Studies from SOAS University of London and a BA (Hons) in International Human Rights with a minor in Art History & Criticism. Her research analysed provisions to safeguard tangible and intangible cultural heritage in Africa, and interrogated the construct of citizenship and belonging from primarily African epistemologies. Living in Cameroon, Tanzania, Kenya, The US, UK, Netherlands, and Ghana has informed her diverse approach to artistic experimentation. Many of her works showcase these visual cultures and aim to cultivate discourse about Pan-African identity and the archive. Ethel is currently based between West Africa and Europe where she works with brands seeking to amplify African arts & culture.

Rishabh is half-Maharashtrian, half-Tamilian but was born and raised in the south-central Indian city of Hyderabad. After finishing high school in Hyderabad, Rishabh studied Economics and Legal Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before returning to India and starting a job in Mumbai! At Madison is where Rishabh picked up an interest in the radio where he had his own show 'Madhur Gaana Sun' ("listen to a sweet song" in Hindi) on the university's radio station.
