They did not have enough money for passage so they decided to go in their own boat. They had a 10 by 12 foot cabin. 3 Babies and a fourth on the way. They knew it was suicide to try and cross the North Atlantic in a canal boat, but they felt they had to. They had found the true religion and wanted to live in utah.

The Brown Bess was the main infantry battle musket used by all the troops for many years. It was battle-tested and very effective the way they used it. Since it could not shoot straight they simply had all the troops shoot at the same time and that sent a wall of lead downrange and that did a lot of damage to any enemy. The gun was huge, 75 caliber. That is compared to most of our muskets which were just 40 caliber. most of our modern hunting rifles are all 3o caliber. It was said that all the Brown Bess needed to be called a canon was a set of wheels.
The British 32 pound Congreve Rocket. It sure made a spectacle of itself. It stained the whole sky red and made a horrendous racket but just how effective was it? Besides perhaps scaring people with weak hearts to death, they were actually pretty useless. After more than 25 hours of bombardment, we only lost 4 men killed and 25 men wounded. Oh, and what about those bombs bursting in air?

Young William Penn could have been legally hung! He had been arrested as he was breaking the conventical act. That act forbade anyone from preaching any doctrine other than approved by the Church of England. His jury refused to find him guilty. Even after the jury was imprisoned, sprayed with urine and smeared with feces, they refused to find him guilty. As a result William Penn went free and our world of trial by jury was forever changed. Even today a jury has the right to judge the law as well as the "crime".

He was licensed to practice in front of the Supreme Court. He had already negotiated the release of an American doctor but was refused permission to leave the ship because night was coming on and the British siege of Fort McHenry was beginning. This is the story of that terrible night.

Benedict Arnold was an American hero. He was second in command at the Battle of Saratoga and hero of our attempt to take Montreal and was terribly wounded in the process.. Because he was overlooked for promotion by Congress he turned and sold us out by attempting to give the British the plans to West Point. When I was a youngster I was taken to one of the first 3-D movies ever made. It was Fort Ticonderoga. I was really enjoying the show when suddenly, with no warning at all, a flaming arrow came right out of the screen and landed smack in my chest. I was too shocked to do or say anything but the girls and guys around me simply erupted. As more fire, tomahawks and clubs arrived in my lap I finally got used to it and began to enjoy the show again. I will never forget the impact of Fort Ticonderoga on our revolution or on myself. The story of moving those captured cannon over hundreds of miles of raw country in the wintertime is a legacy of courage and perseverance and the absolute salvation for the people of Boston.
This is the most decisive battle of the War os 1812 was actually fought two weeks after the end of the war. But that did not stop Americans from wildly cheering and catapulting Andrew Jackson into instant hero status and eventually into the Whitehouse. IT was one of the most lopsided victories in the history of warfare. And one of the reasons we so thoroughly whipped them was because of George Washington's psychological warfare tactics sway back during the American Revolutionary War. Many of these soldiers were the grandchildren of the soldiers who fought Washington and they were inherently still afraid.
George Washington has been given credit for a lot of things but one of his many accomplishments has not gotten many reviews, He was actually a master at psychological warfare. The average poor redcoat soldier came to America filled with the ideology that all of the colonist soldiers were country bumkins. Because of his secret weapons and clever spy commotions, he turned their preconceived ideas into superstitions of the first order, and the effect was so solidly received that those soldiers' grandchildren who fought Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans 40 years later were still scared of our amazing American Long Rifles.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was the very best poet in America. At least many people think so. He is the person responsible for Paul Revere becoming famous. While his poem is superb in excitement it is lacking a little in authenticity. Paul Revere was NOT the only one riding for the committee that night. In fact, Richard Dawson rode to warn also and may have been even more successful than Paul Revere. No matter. Paul was indeed a hero and had been riding for the Correspondence Committee for years already. Here is Longfellow's famous poem as best as I can read it.
- The Battle of Turtle Creek is one of the most famous battles of the French and Indian War. George Washington is a young Major who is recovering from dysentary. He is thrust into the leadership position because all of his superiors are killed. He has many bullet holes in his coat and bullet fragments in his hair but he remained unhurt. It is fascinating to learn what happened when many years later he met the old chief who was in charge of that massacre.

If their fathers had done the same they would have been thrown in jail or worse! Just wait till you hear what general Howe said about them.
Most people think of George Washington as a rich plantation owner that strutted around with a powdered white wig. Yeah, he did that but he hated it when he had to. He loved life on his plantation where he could sit under his "vine and fig tree". The fact that he was also one of the greatest athletes in the colonies and quite possibly was also the strongest man in the colonies is virtually unknown because it is simply not taught anymore in our schools. Did you know the George Washington almost had to get married when he was only 17 years old? This story takes place when he was the licensed surveyor of Culpeper County Virginia working way out in wild unsurveyed Indian country. Young, 17-year-old George Washington learned very emphatically that Indians just might not be his biggest danger.
This podcast was originally titled "Why we are not speaking Japanese". Both titles work as you will see in this podcast. Our second Amendment is so very important to our very existence as a nation but it is not even being taught in our schools. Many of our politicians are even breaking their oath of office by trying to nullify the second amendment and take our guns from us. Yep, those Founding Fathers knew what they were doing when they gave us those amendments.
Was George Washington rich? YES, by all accounts he became one of the richest men in the colonies. But..., he was not born rich! Yes, he was born on a rich plantation but, because of the law of Primogeniture, since he was the third oldest son, he could not inherit the wealth. How is that for being fair? He did inherit some and he married into wealth but most of it he earned the old fashioned way... he worked for it. He actually lived the American Dream.
What does it mean to have a wall between church and state? Why did the Supreme court rule that we can no longer have prayer in schools? Did Thomas Jefferson really say that we must have a wall between church and State? Does it really say that in our Constitution?

This was a one-man rodeo that caught the fancy of the whole countryside. His mother owned a mankiller horse that had never been ridden. He was the meanest, orneriest, wildest horse in the colony. Well, 15-year-old George decided to give it a try. They did finally get the saddle on him but that was just the beginning of the mightiest battle between two indomitable personalities that anyone in that gallery had ever seen. There were no safety riders. George just wanted to ride that horse but the horse wanted to kill George. Just wait until you hear the end of the story. What a horse! What a man! What a 15-year-old man!
How about that! Did you know that George Washington started that war? Well now, I am not saying that he caused the war... just that he got it started. Yepper! He did and this is a story of great patriotism and loyalty and of great sacrifice. I bet that you can't find anyone today that could do what he did in this story. Nope, we just don't raise kids today to be so tough and determined. You can thank your God that he was so tough and determined and possessed the integrity and stamina that he did.

This is the story of the beginning of George Washington's terrible (for the enemy) policy of psychological warfare.
