Welcome to The Soft Life with Saddie Baddies. Saddie Baddies is the antidote to mental health stigma, and this podcast is hosted by yours truly, Priscilla O. Agyeman, MPH. We are a virtual sanctuary centering Black and multiracial people and we prioritize the mental and emotional nourishment that is the foundation of collective healing in our communities.
this is why being the "bigger person" isn't enough — and why constantly avoiding conflict is quietly eroding your relationships and stripping away your earnestness.
if you’ve been taught to suppress your feelings, keep the peace, or stay silent just to be the "mature one," you might actually be building resentment, distance, and disconnection without realizing it.
in this episode, we’re unpacking how avoidance becomes a slippery slope — and why true connection requires confrontation, honesty, and standing firmly in your truth, even when it's uncomfortable.

this week, we’re unpacking the misunderstood emotion of jealousy—why it’s not the villain we make it out to be and how it can actually guide us toward our deepest desires. instead of ignoring or suppressing jealousy, what if we reframed it as a tool for self-awareness and growth?
we’re diving into the layers of jealousy, the difference between internal and external signs, and how to transmute envy into inspired action. if you’ve ever felt that pang of comparison, this episode is your reminder that sometimes, jealousy isn’t about lack—it’s a nudge toward what’s possible.

juggling a 9-5 while building a business with BIG dreams is a balancing act, to say the least 🙃
this one’s for the creatives, solopreneurs, small business owners, and everyone in-between.
in this week’s episode, we’re chatting sustainable entrepreneurship and the challenges of balancing a nine-to-five job with chasing big dreams. it’s essential to recognize that some of us are indeed in that liminal space in the middle, working a full-time job while building a business, and they both have their pros and cons (like freedom over your schedule vs. the illusion of job security). and of course, you’ll hear from our host, Priscilla O. Agyeman, MPH on her own journey of being a creative entrepreneur, as well as valuable resources and related episodes to support you on your own journey.

is it quiet quitting or are we just finally being realistic about our bandwidth at work? 🫠
in this week’s episode, we dive deep into the concepts of decentering work, quiet quitting, and bouncing back after being laid off. we start by exploring the phenomenon of quiet quitting—what it is, why it happens, and whether it's just a matter of doing what you're paid to do.
we'll share practical tips on how to achieve this by creating a value system independent of your job title, engaging in hobbies, prioritizing self-care, and investing in personal development. and of course, you’ll hear from our host, Priscilla O. Agyeman, MPH on her own journey after being laid off, as well as valuable resources and related episodes to support you on your #corporatebaddie journey.

The thing about microaggressions, especially when you deal with them often as a Black person or a person of color, is that they feel like a slap in the face. They’re triggering, they make you question your self worth, they can reignite feelings of imposter syndrome and self doubt. But if you’ve dealt with or are currently dealing with handling a microaggression, you’re not alone.

This one’s dedicated to all our creative baddies. For some of us, creativity is our lifeline and has helped us through some of the darkest moments in our life. While there’s tons of tips, tricks and hacks about being a creative and embracing the creative process- one thing that often goes unsaid is some of our own pitfalls when approaching creativity as a lifelong practice and commitment. Whether you’re a full fledged artist, creative entrepreneur, or just starting out on your path- there’s a gem (…or two, or three) in here for you to take away.

The inner child and teen is the part of ourselves that we tend to neglect as we mature. It’s the innate, youthful nature in us that often we “outgrow” as life, trauma, and challenges occur in our lives. As we become inundated with responsibilities, expectations, and unrealistic standards from society- our inner child can be harder to recognize and embrace as we get older. What was before a vivid representation of your lightheartedness and joy can develop into just a shadow of that version of ourselves.

This week’s episode is all about existing in a liminal space, aka that (not so) sweet spot between what was and what’s next. Transitions or liminal spaces can do a number on us sometimes, because there’s so much in the unknown that we can’t control. But what if we embraced liminal spaces with curiosity, acceptance and softness? How much easier would it be to just get through it?

If you haven’t heard about the current trend of #luckygirlsyndrome, consider this a run down of what everyone and their mom seems to be fascinated by lately (aka repackaged law of assumption). From learning how to write out affirmations in some of my darkest moments and eras to being shocked by the synchrocities and mysteries of the universe, I’ve learned that manifestation is a tool and luck isn’t as far fetched as it seems.

Your girl (Priscilla), is no stranger to a flop era. In fact, I’d like to even think of myself as pro-flop era because as a recovering perfectionist, failure and rejection have transformed me and allowed me to embrace radical acceptance. From being laid off for the first time last year to TRIPLE failing organic chemistry in college, I’ve seen it all. Consider this episode the opposite of an IG 2022 recap reel.

When was the last time you thought about your relationship with nature? Have you ever had the urge to pack everything up in storage, rent a U-Haul, and live off the grid? Maybe even get into farming? 👩🏾🌾 I don’t think there’s anyone better to share this other than Hillarie Maddox, founder of @BlackGirlCountryLiving.
This week’s episode is all about rewilding, slow living and holistic healing with Hillarie Maddox. She left the city for life in the country, fell in love with nature, and found deep healing in the process, which she shares on her platform Black Girl Country Living.
