In this podcast I talk about anger and fear outlining real work situations. Names have been changed for privacy reasons.

Five case scenarios set in various industries.

Workplaces are full of situations that trigger anger and frustration. Sometimes situations are scary and generate great fear. One could depict the environment in these situations as ‘walking on eggshells’.

As an angry person, I hope that you can stop and think about the impact your anger has on others. It might not be a problem for you, but it can be an issue that others find it difficult to deal with.

As a receiver of anger, ensure you receive help to process the impact of anger. Train yourself to deal with anger within the workplace through joining a course, doing some personal coaching or mentoring for that specific area.

Enjoy!

"After the anger incident, he wouldn’t talk to me, wouldn’t return my calls, and then, our ten year relationship was absolutely gone."

So how does a workplace friendship turn into a damaged relationship?Join me today to explore a couple of solutions to damaged work relationships.

This podcast will help you identify ways to avoid the anger related ‘nothing can stop me now’ belief.

Motives for anger vary from one person to another.

1.     Motives can stem from childhood.

2.     Motives can be rooted in our  personality differences.

How can you avoid the ‘nothing can stop me now’ belief?  Here are 4 ways to start.

1.     Ask yourself the question. What was the most impacting incident in my childhood?

2.     List the times when you were able to control your anger. Ask yourself the question. What was different then?

3.     Is your anger so familiar to you (such as being part of your personality) that you don’t see it as anger?

4.     Ask yourself the questions. Is my anger linked to substance abuse?

Enjoy!

We all get angry and frustrated sometimes.  We all want to communicate something with our anger. The key question is whether we are actually communicating what we think we are.

In this podcast I explore five interpretations made of anger expressions by receivers or observers of anger.  They are:

  1. Did I really say that I'm like a child throwing a big tantrum?
  2. Did I really say that I'm unprofessional?
  3. Did I really say that I'm internally deficient?
  4. Did I really say that I'm scary and dangerous?
  5. Did I really say that you need to watch out for each other's wellbeing when you're around me?

  1. The first crazy (but true) thing about emotions is that emotions are not static.
  2. The second crazy (but true) thing about emotions is that emotions should be under the control of the actor but sometimes they're not.
3.The third crazy (but true) thing about emotions is that people can fake them.
