The Great Co-Mission
To Glorify God…Eat, Drink, and Be Merry
God created us not only to glorify Him, but also to enjoy Him, receiving the good gifts of this short and often difficult life with gratitude and joy. Whether we eat, drink, work, rest, worship, or celebrate, every part of life is an opportunity to recognize God’s goodness and do all things for His glory.

The Tower of Babel: The Kingdoms We Build
Genesis 11
Whose name are we building our lives to make great: our own or God’s? The Tower of Babel warns us against trusting our own kingdoms, while Jesus invites us to receive by grace the life and future only He can provide.

Jericho: The God Who Keeps His Promises
Joshua 6
The story of Jericho reveals God as the perfect promise keeper, faithful to fulfill His Word in His perfect timing. His faithfulness calls us to trust while we wait, obey while He works, and continue following even when we cannot see the outcome.

Gideon: The Mighty Man of Valor
Judges 6
Gideon begins as an unlikely deliverer whom God graciously uses, but he ends as another flawed judge who cannot ultimately save God's people. By reading the whole story—not just the famous parts—we learn that the hero is never Gideon, but the Lord. Gideon's life leaves us longing for the perfect Deliverer, Jesus Christ.

Jacob and Esau: Despised, Deceived, and Delivered
Genesis 25
God’s promise is too precious to despise, too great to seize in our own strength, and too gracious to be received by anything but faith. Through Esau, Jacob, and ultimately Jesus, we see that God faithfully fulfills His promises by grace, not human effort.

Abraham’s faith grew as he came to know God more deeply throughout his life, learning that God cannot lie, remains perfectly faithful, and possesses the power to fulfill every promise He makes. The path to stronger faith is the same for us: fixing our eyes on God through His Word and His people, allowing our confidence in Him to grow as we remember who He is and what He has done.

Romans Vol. 1 - Coming Under Grace
People naturally assume salvation works like Santa’s list: if we’re good enough, God will reward us, but Paul shows in Romans 4 that righteousness has never come through morality, law, or human effort. Instead, salvation is a gift of grace received through faith alone in Christ alone, giving believers the assurance that God’s promise depends on His faithfulness, not their performance.

Psalm 113
Psalm 113 calls us to praise God not as a reaction to good circumstances, but as a response to His unchanging worth. Man of God (Part 4)
What we truly believe always shows up in how we live, because behavior is belief made visible, and when eternity and the reality of God become real to us, faithfulness stops being a burden and becomes a joy. Paul grounds Timothy’s obedience in a big, awe-filled vision of who God is, knowing that only a deep and true understanding of God’s greatness will produce men whose lives consistently reflect what they believe.

Man of God (Part 3)
We love stories of fighting men because God has wired men with an impulse to protect, contend, and persevere, but Scripture redirects that impulse away from destructive battles and toward the good fight of faith. A man of God fights not for ego or anger, but by fleeing sin, pursuing godliness, taking hold of eternal life, and courageously confessing Christ for the sake of his own faith and the faith of others.

Man of God (Part 2)
A man of God doesn’t just flee sin out of fear or avoidance; he runs toward something better by actively pursuing the life God calls him to live. Paul reminds Timothy that being a man of God doesn’t begin with fighting harder but with fleeing what will quietly destroy him, especially the pull of sinful desires that promise gain but lead to loss. God With Us (Advent 2025 – Part 2)
Hebrews 2:14–17 shows that Christmas matters because God became truly human in Jesus—not in sin, but in our flesh—to accomplish what no one else could. By taking on our nature, Christ destroyed the devil’s power, silenced his accusations, and freed us from the fear and slavery of death. The story of the flood in Genesis 6–9 shows God's grief over the deep corruption of humanity, His judgment through the flood, and His mercy in preserving Noah and offering a new beginning. Ultimately, it points forward to Jesus, the better Noah, who takes God's judgment upon Himself at the cross and gives us hope for a future re-creation free from sin and death.

Samson is not a story about a strong courageous hero but how we compromise to sin. We cannot be our own hero, we need a savior to free us from the slavery of our sin. Samson is a flawed, impulsive figure who reflects the unfaithfulness of Israel—and of us. Though chosen and empowered by God, he continually breaks his vow and does what is right in his own eyes. Where Samson failed in strength, Jesus triumphed in weakness.

Old Testament stories are fun and fascinating, but we’ve gotten into a bad habit of making them moral tales just for kids. In reality, all of these stories point to Jesus and exist for the sanctification of all believers. The Bible consistently teaches that all sexual immorality, including homosexuality, is not acceptable to God, and claiming otherwise means rejecting Scripture's clear teaching. Paul shows that God's wrath against idolatry is expressed by giving people over to their own desires—seen most clearly in sexual sin—and that this is not merely a matter of personal preference but a rejection of God's design. Yet, the gospel offers hope and transformation to all sinners, including those caught in sexual brokenness, reminding us that no one is beyond the reach of God's grace.

Opening lines in stories, like "Once upon a time..." for fairy tales or "It was a dark and stormy night..." for mysteries, set the stage. In the Book of Job, we meet a man named who lived in Uz and predated major biblical events. Despite limited knowledge, Job's genuineness and piety challenge the idea that suffering always results from sin, emphasizing righteous suffering and redemption.

Job: Suffering Faith and Faithful Suffering (Part 1)
In a world where suffering is inevitable, we seek to maximize pleasure and minimize pain. This mindset raises important questions about the role of faith in challenging times, echoing the story of Job. It underscores the need for a faith that remains relevant during suffering, offering hope and meaning in life's trials.
Scripture: Job 1:1-22

The Pharisees were blinded by their status and their external issues / discomforts so much that they forgot their biggest problem was separation from God. And thus they missed that Jesus was the savior they needed. It is the same with us today. We can get so focused on the “little problems” of life that we settle for “little saviors.” Let us be like the faithful disciples who recognized their biggest need and therefore were able to recognize the savior.
