Mother in Heaven, Elder Renlund waiting for revelations, young men must serve missions, vague temple rec questions, what is your source of truth?
My opinion based on three books that I read regarding this tragic church history event. A very high level look of why this happened and who really was to blame.
We are all going to experience this if you have not already. My ideas on how to help someone you know when they leave the faith.
I discuss some of the resources that the church has provided that may help those who are experiencing a faith crisis. I also share my idea on what the church needs to do to help members struggling with church history.
It has never been more important to have a rock-solid belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ than right now. You will not make it out of the storm if you don’t. In this episode I share my personal experiences of how I learned what revelation really is and why warm fuzzies are fine but not enough.
A brief overview of how this came about and how we went from a translation to a canonized, accepted scripture. Also, a “Top Three” reasons people move from the “momo” camp to the “exmo” camp. You will need to have an opinion before you get blindsided by this issue.
This one is for sure going to offend most listeners. I ask that you listen with an open mind as I share my research into the succession of the church. I share this because I truly believe that this will be one of the biggest issues that we as members will have to deal with. An issue that really has not been discussed much until members were trying to decide if the covid poke was from God through a prophet or a doctor that happens to be called a prophet. Hold on to your testimonies, but I firmly believe that it is perfectly OK to have presidents and not prophets lead the church.
When I lived among the exmos, I learned an interesting statistic: over 60% of them considered themselves a “momo”, or someone that lived as a very Jesus-hugging, BofM-thumping, do everything checklist member. You might even say that these were the very “elect” in a way. I talk about how it may not be a good thing if this is you.
A brief overview of what I have read about the most controversial doctrine in the church that your seminary, institute, and Sunday school teacher forgot to tell you. If you have only received your info about polygamy in a church setting, you are not getting the complete version. This is also probably the #1 reason people leave the church, so I suggest you figure out where you stand and quick!
A pet peeve of mine that I have had for years on how the church killed dating and then complains about it. You can’t have it both ways!
I like to look at the church as at least three different entities. In this podcast I hope I can help listeners on the fence look at the church in a healthy way to allow them to understand what is church, what is doctrine, and what is just culture.
A brief history of how tithing settlement started and why I think it has outlasted its usefulness.
The reason I speak about this is that the exmos (ex-mormons) confuse the culture with the “church” all the time and want you to do the same. Our culture is 90% the members’ fault, IMO, and 10% the leaders fault. If you struggle with the church culture like I do, hopefully something in this podcast will help you not leave the church and deal with the culture.
Church history, in my opinion, is and will be the biggest issue the church will face before Jesus comes again. The reason this is such an issue is it is coming to you whether you like it or not. Nobody will be able to hide from it. This podcast will hopefully help you when the storm reaches you.
A brief overview of why I am doing this podcast and what I hope others get from this. You can’t read church history and not change your view of the Mormon faith. I will share how I can still be a “Mormon” and know the issues of our past and current events. A brief background of my church life is also shared.
