With the recent delay of Joey Badasses 2000 and the anniversary of his first mixtape, 1999. It had me reminiscing not only on the early days of pro era but also on the beast coast movement as a whole. We ended up getting an album from the collective in 2019 and I really enjoyed that project even if it didn't quite match the magic at the movement had in the early to mid 20 tens, it consisted mainly of Joey badass and Pro era with the Underachievers and the Flatbush zombies, but also was affiliated with phony people, dime a dozen and some other artists in the new york scene at that time, I was one of those people championing beast coast as the modern day native tongues. The energy that they brought to the New York rap scene in the 2010s was so fresh and fun and they all were so talented. The artists were all just starting their careers back then and they've gone on to release some of the most underrated projects of the last decade. You have C. J. Fly with the way I see it and not what you're expecting. The Underachievers with the Lords of Flatbush and the classic Indigo is um The Flatbush zombies with 3001 a laced odyssey and vacation in hell as well as many other projects from the other artists, let me know what your favorite Beast Coast track and album was from this era and who your favorite artist is to come from this collective

This week XXL released their freshman list and it seems fine for the most part. I really haven't been too big a fan of any of their covers since 2016, but there's one artist on this year's list that I'm super excited for does she is an artist that I think has the potential to be one of the best in the game in a couple of years. She released coven music session in 2019 and oh the places you'll go in 2020 but she's really started to gain some momentum lately featuring on Isaiah Rashad's album from 2021. The house is burning. She's able to make these really fun and inventive songs that have papa feel but still revolve around her elite rapping skills. She combines her rapping with singing and she could rap really fast and she can also be introspective but also have some super funny and witty lines with her bars. The overall presentation of her skills as a leader, assistant songwriter is just so well thought out and put together. I'm really excited to see what she has coming up next for us and hopefully the Xxl cover will be able to put some more eyes on her for the future, let me know who on this year's XXL freshman list has you the most excited

the weather has been so nice lately. So, I wanted to talk about one of my Go to Springtime albums, Dear Annie by Reggie Snow. I love this project. It's sort of in the same vein as tired of the creator's Flower boy, but in my opinion, is a little more refined and fleshed out. The production is filled with colorful, sunny beats that range from jazz to trap inspirations. And Reggie showcases his skills as one of the best songwriters of his next generation, blending singing with rapping to poetry. It all fits so perfectly. The album is infused with Tales of Love Lost and found built with a sense of hope that sometimes rare in the genre, You have songs where Reggie is almost serenading the listener with the sort of mellow and monotonous whisper scene that goes perfectly with the synth heavy production on rainbows and the beautiful chords of the B on 23. And then there's more upbeat songs like Monomer and Spaceships, as well as the Katrina to produced Egyptian Lover, which is perfect for Driving on a hot spring day. L. M. F. A O is sort of out of place here, but I really love it. It's sort of got a euro house track maybe with a bouncy production and some outrageous lyrics and then charlie Brown is unbelievably cool. It's honestly one of my favorite songs ever. It's got such a fun vibe and it's dope, knowing that it's a cover of an irish song and it's a big improvement on the original overall, this is a beautiful album that doesn't get the love that it deserves. this past week your old droog released his latest project, Yard Stewart. But it looks like it's been getting a bit of a mixed reception for years. Drug was viewed as having one of the best discography of his generation but his last few projects has left. Some people feel like he's losing his momentum. This conversation has been brought on by yad Stewart as well as his previous one called Yod Wave. I've seen people saying that he's releasing too much and watering down his sound just because his latest output isn't quite living up to his best works from the past. But I think the discussion around these projects is all wrong. We shouldn't be comparing Yard Wave and Yard Stewart to drugs Best albums from his 2019 run or even his early lps like pax and his self titled debut. We should be comparing these new projects to his past gps. Like the nicest Kinison what happened to fire and lucy's and if that if that's the case then these newer mps are just on par with where he's always been, if not better. I think drugs treating these E. P. S with the celebrity Yard names just like how Mark Hami recently released his Trees Nathan series of Gps. Yes, I'm sure there will be a yeah Rodney Dangerfield ep or something coming like that soon that people will be comparing to. It wasn't even close and saying that drug fell off. But I don't think that they should be comparing it to those I guarantee you the next time that drug releases a full length LP. He will prove all the haters wrong and show that he still has what it takes when he's putting his best into it.

A couple of days ago, Lupe Fiasco announced that he was releasing his next album, Drill Music in Zion on June 24. This easily is now my most anticipated album of the year. Not only is Lupe, one of the greatest rappers of all time, but this has potential to be one of his best releases ever. The album cover which was presumably painted by Lupe himself is super reminiscent of Tetsuo and Youth, which is Lupe, his magnum opus. He's already released the album's first single, Alto Beto, which is a super dope track. I can see this album being sort of a combination of both drogas projects with the trap inspired production of drogas light mixed with the deep storytelling and lyricism of drogas waves. Besides Auto Beto. The only other thing confirmed to my knowledge is that this album is supposed to have the conclusion to lou pays mural trilogy with the first two being two of the most lyrically dense songs of the last decade overall, I'm just super stoked to hear what Lupe has in store for us. I have no doubt that it's going to be amazing in the past two years. He's given us both the house and the tape tape gps as well as released a whole bunch of dope lucy's to his Youtube. So he's been in top form lately. I can't wait for this project but let me know if you guys are anticipating it to

Joey badasses at such an interesting point in his career 10 years into his career, and he's really at a make or break point into his legacy. His upcoming album, 2000, is a follow up to his debut classic, Mixtape, 1999 which is by far his best project. And while I admit it is always a bit daunting when an artist makes a sequel to their best work because it rarely lives up to the hype. But I feel like people are treating Joey like he's washed up, and that's certainly not the case. His most recent single, The Revenge wasn't that Great. But last year he released The Light Pack, which was fire, and Joey has yet to give us a bad project. His post 1999 discography is a bit polarising, but in my opinion he had one of the most consistent discography for the last decade. Summer Nights was a bit more experimental and gave him a chance to step into a more aggressive sound. Testing the waters for would later come, and before the money was just 17 tracks of dope, hip hop all the way through, and his most recent album, All American badass, which is was a great step into a more socially conscious Joey, which is a lane that I can see him stepping into further on 2000. Now, I don't need Joey to Top 1999 because, quite honestly, he'll probably never top that. But there's nothing wrong with that. I just hope that 2000 continues his artistic evolution and shows people that Joey still has what it takes to be at the top of the game.

Does anybody else feel the gravitational pull of Kendrick? Lamar with this album coming? I feel like The Game has been clamoring for a momentous great album for a while. And with just one song, Kendrick has already filled a huge gap over the past couple of years. It feels like most mainstream albums have came and went with a whimper. The one main exception was Kanye West, Donda. As amazing as Donde was, that experience was just as much about everything around the music, whether it be the live shows or the delays, or the masks or the divorce, but by the end of it, I think we were all a little, Kanye doubt aside from that, to the creator is the only artist that feels like he's able to create massive hype around the music alone, certified Lover Boy was definitely a disappointment to drake standards. And and J Cole came out with the Dream ville album just last month that I feel like most people have forgotten about if they even knew about it at all. So if Kendrick is able to deliver on this project, then it cannot be understated, just how important he is to the rap game. And it's and if it's as good as I hope it is, then we really can't argue anyone else being at the top of the game other than him, Kendrick has returned to reclaim his crown and I'm here for it. MF. Doom is one of the best rappers ever and he is one of the best discography is in the history of rap. But I want to talk about one of his more underrated albums, Peruvian Doom when this came out, I remember it got a lot of hate because he worked with Bishop Nehru over some of the other doomed descendants at the time, like Joey badass and Earl sweatshirt. But I've always loved this album. Even though Doom doesn't wrap that much on this album, it still feels like a doomed project with his incredible production straight out of a supervillain cartoon. And Nehru really lives up to the pressure here. He feels like Doom's villainous sidekick spitting these jazzy off kilter flows and bars and when Doom does come into rap, it feels momentous, kind of like a boss battle in the video game. Some of my favorite tracks here are great things means the most darkness um and coming for you. But really every track here is solid overall. This is just a super underrated gem that I hope people rediscover the greatness of in the years to come. Let me know what you think of this album and where it stacks up in Doom's discography. I know this isn't a top tier doom album or anything, but I think that even a mid tier Doom album is a great album compared to everybody else, let me know what you guys think

we're already three years into the 20 twenty's. So I figured it's a good time to start talking about who is the emcee of the decade so far? Well, for me, it's none other than the rapper out of Cali named blue In these three years, Blue has released three albums and two mps, one of which is his 2020 magnum opus called Miles. This project is an hour and a half of some of the best hip hop ever made with Blue channeling his inner Miles Davis, honoring the roots of himself and hip hop. And then in 2021, he followed that up with the colour blue, an album that's somehow just as good as miles. This album is a concept record about the color blue itself and the entire album is an exercise in creative writing showing how many ways you can rap about one word. It truly is a master class in lyricism. And most recently, he teamed up with Fat lip to give Us Live from the End of the World Volume one. An album that's sort of a love letter to the West Coast underground scene featuring production from Mad lib Knowledge and more, his mps. The narrative and for sale further deepen his catalog in this decade as one of the most elite around both Miles. And the color Blue are two of the best rapping performances of the 20 twenty's so far. And I don't think there's any other EMC that has two performances quite like this. Let me know who do you think is the end of the decade so far. Action Bronson is one of the most consistent and creative wrappers in the underground, but I feel like he often gets overlooked simply because he's been at it for so long. His latest album, Krokodil Oh turbo proves that he's still at the top of his game. The album marks the fourth entry in his recent run of albums that are all based off of a different animal, You have white bronco lamb over rice, only for dolphins, and now Crocodile oh turbo, which I feel like is the strongest of all four of them. This album may have the same energy as his recent output, but this one feels more grand and cinematic with sounds of the rainforest guiding you through the album immersing you into the music, Bronson has always had one of the best ears for beats in the game and this is no exception. Featuring production from the Alchemist, Derringer, Roc marciano and Action Bronson himself and the beats are big and colorful, perfect for Bronson's outrageous rapping style. The production is almost cartoonish at times, bringing out a side of the featured artists like Conway and Roc marci that's rarely seen some of the standout tracks from this album are tong po, sub zero, jaguar Zambezi and Storm of the Century, which closes out the album with the great Bronson verse and then a two minute sax solo leading into those rainforest sounds setting. This apart is one of the most creative albums of action Bronson's discography and of hip hop this year, Let me know how you think of this album
