Historically, young activist have been the catalyst for social justice. SCYEA was founded by young students and led by a recent graduate of Morehouse College that returned to South LA to do just that, be a catalyst of change. 

One of our first youth organizers, Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson has guided us through some of our biggest wins as SCYEA! We now get a chance to talk with him about his influence on our program and how or if his time at Community Coalition working with youth influences how he makes decisions now as an elected official.

It seems that ever 30 years or so, the people's tolerance for injustice comes to a boiling point. From the Watts Rebellion in 1965, the Uprising in 1992, and the Global Demand for Justice in 2020, Uprising have continued to be the voice of the unheard.
