Today, I am speaking with June, a professional artist, wellness consultant, and storytelling coach. After spending her twenties as an artist and community organizer inside of nonprofit organizations, she began craving an alternative narrative to healing and justice beyond the struggle.
Curiosity led her back to Thailand, where she studied with a traditional midwife to learn the ways of her ancestors. That's when she realized that all of our ancestors were entrepreneurial.
Today, June facilitates private coaching and group masterminds for women and people of color who are seeking clarity in their messaging and confidence in their speaking so that they can grow their business from a place of alignment.

Today, I am speaking with Carla Gomez, a SoCal native who spent 13 years in NYC working in Wall Street banks, where she spent much of her career helping business leaders with challenges such as improving team performance or innovating their approach to business practices in some way.
Towards the end of her time in NYC, Carla attended Columbia Business School and graduated in 2016, which also prompted her to quit her corporate gig and head back to California.
Within a year of exploring her interests, Carla launched a small kombucha business in 2017.
The kombucha business was short-lived and in 2018 Carla went back to the corporate world doing leadership consulting.
It wasn’t long before the itch for the next entrepreneurial venture crept in and Carla’s current venture of enci sweets was born in December of 2019.

One could say that SaviaGuate was born from the founder's joy of sharing souvenirs from trips to her country with co-workers. With time, friends and family began requesting these items which ultimately led to the start of a business.
The truth is that SaviaGuate has been brewing for much, much longer. Leslie grew up in a household of women entrepreneurs and artisans who have been hand-crafting items ever since she can remember. This upbringing has instilled in her a deep love and appreciation for her culture and the tenacity it takes to create something by hand.
In this episode, Leslie will share with us the mission of SaviaGuate and how much she enjoys bringing the story behind each artisan craft to light and through that she continues to empower the indigenous people of Guatemala while raising overall awareness of this beautiful country rich in creativity and color.

Today I am speaking with Vanessa. She is a fierce and adventurous travel coach who empowers Latinos/x to live life to the fullest and get out of their comfort zone. As a NYC educator with insatiable wanderlust, she wanted her hugely underrepresented high school students to experience the world beyond the textbooks. For 7 years she lead her students on educational tours. During her travels, she noticed the lack of representation of Latinos/x in travel space, so in 2015, she founded Latino World Travelers - a global travel community with the mission to empower Latinos/x to experience the world, and diversify the face of travel. Today that community has over 5,000+ members and hosts the Latino Travelf Fest every year.
In this episode, Vanessa will share her journey traveling with her students internationally, and creating an online community to bring Latino/x voices to the forefront. She also shares very applicable tips and hacks you can implement today that will save you money so you can travel more. Get ready for her to spark your curiosity for travel.

Welcome to the first episode of the Minority Entrepreneur Podcast, a show dedicated to telling the stories of minority business owners and the amazing work they do. This is your host Rene and I am excited you are here.
Every business owner has a unique story that is sure to inspire those looking to take the leap into entrepreneurship. For the first episode of this podcast, I figured I would tell my story.
As an immigrant from Mexico, it was extremely hard to be the different kid in a new country. Unable to communicate with others and being made fun off because I did not speak the language, my only way to cope with this new country was to hang out with the bad kids who understood me... or so I though. I started getting into trouble and fights at school.
In high school, I played a variety of sports and the discipline I gained shaped me into the person I am today. I received my engineering degree in 2012, started my first business in 2014, created an after school enrichment program to teach children about STEM in 2017, and founded Biznesito™ in 2020, and created the LatinX Entrepreneurship Academy™ in 2021.
