- Sarah just got back from the 2023 KSGF Great Escape.
- Sarah was out and about quite a bit in Mexico, so she took notes about vehicles that she saw.
- There was a lot of cars & SUVs. Trucks weren't as common, but there was quite a few Ford Rangers & VW trucks.
- Dealerships looked a lot like ours - there was not a lot of vehicles on the lot. The Nissan dealership actually had vehicles stored on the roof.
- Gas was 23.59 (pesos) per liter. That translates to around $4.95 per gallon.
- There were several makes & models that weren't familiar. There was quite a few Renault Oroch's on the road. These trucks retail around $365,700 pesos, or around $20,000 dollars if buying the basic trim package.
- The Toyota Hilux was also popular. Why are they not sold in the US? Apparently it's due to something called "The Chicken Tax."
- More people are coming into the shop to rebuild older vehicles.

- Car thefts have skyrocketed in St. Louis in recent months, with city leadership threatening lawsuits against Kia and Hyundai for an alleged defect that makes certain makes of the cars easier to steal.
- Hyundai is attempting to address the issue by offering an electronic security system for sale that targets the issue. The system includes a glass break sensor that targets the most common form of entry in the thefts and immobilizes the ignition if it is set off. The retail price is $170, but Automotive News reports that the full installation could cost as much as $500 with labor.

- Chevy has confirmed that it will discontinue sales of the Spark subcompact hatchback when production of the 2022 model ends in August. The Spark is currently the cheapest car on sale in the U.S. Its starting price of $14,595 makes it the only vehicle available for under $15,000.
- Tesla is having an awful few weeks when it comes to recalls. Tesla is recalling over 817,000 vehicles to fix the seatbelt reminder chime. They’re also recalling 54,000 Full Self-Driving vehicles that may run stop signs. And finally, Tesla is recalling 27,000 vehicles because their energy-efficient heat pumps have an issue that makes them ineffective at defrosting the windows.
