After a nearly a decade of observing online internet literary spaces - Tyler Burn, from Tulsa Oklahoma, interviews a vast array of different artists, writers and poets. It's so odd writing about myself in third person. I feel so serious. This show isn't that serious. Just hanging out with writers. Yah.
emma burger is a chicago-based writer, originally from nyc. she is the author of two novels, little rich kids and spaghetti for starving girls, and the founder of gold coast editions.

Several of us including Rachelle Toarmino were pregnant and we held a brunch to celebrate her new poetry book, Hell Yeah by Third Man Books.
Hell Yeah, Rachelle Toarmino’s fourth poetry collection might also be Rachelle's sixth book of poetry. It's almost confusing. Rachelle Toarmino is a pregnant poet from Niagara Falls, New York. She is the author of the poetry collections Hell Yeah and That Ex, as well as several chapbooks, most recently My Science, winner of the 2024 Sixth Finch Chapbook Contest.
Her work has appeared in Poets.org, Literary Hub, Electric Literature, American Poetry Review, Bennington Review, Southeast Review, The Slowdown, and Omnidawn, which awarded her its 2024 Single Poem Broadside Prize. She earned her MFA in poetry at UMass Amherst, where she received an Academy of American Poets Prize.

Aidan Ryan returns to the show to discuss his new book - I Am Here You Are Not I Love You. This new book covers the lives of the artists Cindy Suffoletto and Andrew Topolski. Aidan, of course, related to both. The book talks about art scenes in Buffalo and even covers some history of it as well. This book has garnered a lot of praise and great press from places like The Brooklyn Rail and even been covered by Matthew Bookin in the Zona Motel over on the substack site.

I went to a bookstore today. Haven't been in one in some time - usually I'm in the amazon internet places. It's cool to hold a physical thing, rifle through the pages and sniff the vowels right off the page. Snort the spine. Rifling through the books was a blast. Bookstores morph.
I was relistening back to this episode as I edited it down - throwing away chunks here and there. I just love this stuff. I am a lucy freaking person.

This week Will Duryea, founder of Misery Tourism - a literary spectacle and magazine , came through to discuss his life. We start off on how the Occupy Wallstreet Movement set off a chain of events in which led to creating Misery Tourism and how he views his role in the indie literary scene today. He also hosts a weekly reading series called Misery Loves Company. He lives in a small lil town called Dickinson Center, 15 miles out of Malone, New York - another small town but kind of bigger.

Cletus Crow is a poet, and freelance editor and former journalist from and currently residing in Tennessee. His new book of poems is called Phallic Symbols. The book drops on June 7th from Pig Roast Publishing. The poems grapple with a multitude of themes such as masculinity, macho stuff, animalistic behaviors, sexuality, mental illness and religion. Many of these poems have been featured in various prestigious and outstanding literary outlets like that of William Duryea and Rudy Johnson's Misery Tourism, HAD, Hobart, Spectra, and Forever Magazine
I met Lucy Wainger and Frankie BB through Rachelle Toarmino's online poetry workshop Wet Paint through her organization Beauty School. They're both professionally trained poets making a successful living from poetry. Lucy went to Umass with Rachelle Toarmino. Both have books out. You can buy his book through Bottle Cap press. Gion Davis is a poet from New Mexico and they are a part of 'Clementine Is Right' with Mike Young and many other cool people.
Gion published Too Much in 2022. We spoke about how they grew up in New Mexico, their relationship with their parents. They read several poems on this episode. Just recently they published a new poem on Ghost City Press.

Today I spoke with the poet and founder of METATRON - Ashley Obscura.
Metatron is an experimental online space for poetry and art. and is an independent press as well. I was very interested in the new section of the site - GLYPHORIA which is an experimental take on literary magazines but feels different to me. I love the website and many of the new pieces. Anyways, we spoke about how she started out in Canada and her beginnings in publishing,. We ended up discussing video games, virtual reality, ethics, and the business of running an indie press.

We start off the program talking about Mary Boo's residency she's put together with Zoe . August Smith is a poet from Michigan. Now living in Austin, Texas. In this episode, you'll hear about his journey from Michigan to Boston and eventually Austin, Texas. How the facebook group Alt Lit Gossip helped inspire him and find some new friends. August has been published in places like Peach, Omega, and Metatron. She's the author of The Motion (421 Atlanta) and How To Be A Perfect Bride and Troisieme Vague in '21.
In '21 Lucy started Shabby Doll House press. Later in the Spring, she'll be publishing Caroline Rayner debut, Moan Wilds and Sebastian Castillo's Salmon.
