Spring is approaching and in this month's edition of the Chester House Chapters, Presenter John Griff talks to Natasha Riley and Nigel Anderson from the Learning Team about the very real lessons being taught throughout March's Cade lamb feeding sessions. he also finds out about the return for 2024 of the Irchester Field School - bigger and better than ever before!
John also talks to Matt Wade, who's just taken on the role of Operations Manager at the Chester House Estate, and how a career in tv production might help to influence what goes on here in the future.
After last month's review of 2023, on the podcast this month, John Griff talks to Lizzie Crowe, who's been part of the hugely important volunteer team at The Chester House Estate since its very first days as a heritage venue. We find out why Lizzie wanted to become a volunteer, what she puts in and what she feels she gets out of her relationships with the estate and team.

With the arrival of the new year, this month's Chester House Chapter gives you the opportunity to hear the views of an invited panel of guests from very different areas of the estate as they pause and look back on 2023. What did the last twelve months bring for visitors, staff and volunteers to the Chester House Estate and how have they set the place up for the coming twelve months? What would the panel change, given the chance to do so? And how are they looking forward to 2024?
This month John talks to Ben Donnelly-Symes and Doctor Sarah Scott about all things archaeological at the Chester House Estate - he looks back with them over a busy 2023. He also chats to one of the tutors and a student from the newly established Creating Tomorrow College which has premises on the estate. And ahead of their return midway through the month there's conversation with Mowerman Stewart Garrett-Harvey about a festively themed event starting out once more from the estate and taking to the roads of Northamptonshire. It'll be a knockout - especially with the help of a VIP attendee, so have a listen!

With the summer holidays upon us, in this month's Chester House Chapter, John Griff talks to the General Manager of the Chester House Estate Jack Pishhorn about how the business of running a prime heritage venue in it's second year of trading is going. He also talks to new recruit and Venue Officer Matt Wade, and looks forward to this month's open air theatre production of 'The Importance Of Being Ernest' with it's Director Ben Poole.
With the Summer here, so too are a host of events on the Chester House Estate and in this month's episode of The Chester House Chapters, John Griff finds out about the latest archeological dig taking place on site from Dr Jeremy Taylor, student Andre and Professor Sarah Scott.
He also talks to Events Team Manager Amanda Biggs about the entertainment events coming up across the summer - and even Freddie Mercury!
In this particular Chester House Chapter, John finds out about the return of all things doggy-friendly, because Woof Fest is coming back! Organiser Nadine Berger runs her business called The Canine Cottage from premises on the Chester House Estate and explains what’s going to be going on on the 10th of June.
John also talks to General Manager Stephanie Wooster about this year’s forthcoming Roman Festival events at the Chester House Estate and Natasha Bolton from the Learning Team explains how a series of exciting educational activities will support the many young people who will be coming to learn about ancient times, while archaeologists from the University of Leicester literally dig their way back to the Roman town upon which the Chester House Estate now sits!

After last year’s hugely successful archaeological digs at the Chester House Estate, Professor Sarah Scott from the University of Leicester talks about what was found, what it tells us about the past of the estate and why it’s important for the future as well. Events Lead Imogen Martin talks about this year’s popular Kids Fest that will be going on all over the estate. General Manager Stephanie Wooster shows John Griff the Chester House Estate’s latest architectural acquisition - one definitely geared towards expanding the estate’s services.
During this episode of the Chester House Chapters, John Griff explores the Spring at the Estate event ... and meets 50 cade lambs which the public get to bottle feed throughout the spring season!

John Griff was delighted to attend the official opening of the Discover Northamptonshire hub at Rushden Lakes on Monday 20th March 2023. Throughout the launch, he spoke to many stakeholders and attendees to learn more about the exciting new Culture, Tourism and Heritage hub, encouraging visitors to answer the question #WhereNext in Northamptonshire.
