Aero Fighters, you know—Aeros. And they are fighting. Did you guess this would be an intense cinematic platformer detailing a surface-dwelling human's adventure trying to make his way through a cloud kingdom he woke up in? If so, you didn't look at the game cover. It's a top-down shooter. But I give you points for creativity. And someone should make that game. Or not, Tyler hates the genre. BUT AERO FIGHTERS! We visited quite a few movies this week, with some books and TV mixed in. Lots of zombie game talk for some reason, but we also do a solid dive into this game. So won't you end this meandering episode introduction and just stay awhile and listen?

Wizened Sage Ian returns to the podcast to guest host much like Master Higgins returns to Adventure Island! Things are a little different in the second Adventure Island on the SNES, which is appropriately named Super Adventure Island II. This game is a little bit of a departure from the series (we’ll get into that in this episode), and it’s very similar to another classic retro game (we’ll get into that too). Come dock your raft for a little bit and listen.
Well, it has "been a week". With absolutely insane work schedules, Mothers Day events, graduations, and much much more, we were not able to get together this week to record something new new, but we didn't want to skip a week. So...we're opening The Patreon Vault to bring you an excellent episode that we recorded with one Ross Rachel Green from Across the Pond (you know, from the SNES quizzes on the show). We recorded this bonus episode back when we were doing bounties, and Ross put a bounty on a game that we hadn't really heard of previously: Mazin Saga Mutant Fighter for the Sega Genesis, a game that tries to mash up a beat 'em up with a fighting game.

This week the Randomizer threw up a total mystery in Run Saber. We may have talked off mic about Hades for an hour before we started but we had a pretty good deep dive into Run Saber, it’s not at all what we expected. The Randomizer tried to throw us X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse which we have already done an episode on, so we countered with a game we were actually interested in: X-Men 2: Clone Wars for the Sega Genesis. IT’S OUR 8th ANNIVERSARY! So we are joined by Brandon of Axelay fame, and his girlfriend Cheryl of Brandon fame, to celebrate. This was a planned thing and not by total coincidence. I might say this show is 40% tangents, 50% Final Fight 3, 9% Quizzes, and a whopping 1% Final Fight Guy because that is literally all it deserves. We give you a Jack update, how Melissa helped Tyler conquer something that he very much wanted conquered, Dave tells some sweet new Ultima Online stories. We thought it was a taunt by the Randomizer at first, but it turns out there is an SNES game based on a movie by the same name “No Escape”. Well, apparently this movie was quite the flop but it was not without its fans. One of those fans is our beloved Sandwich Pope Phil, so we had to bring him on. We recount the movie, and the game but we really get into a deep discussion of Wild Hogs. Enjoy!
Tyler and Dave loved Nicktoons growing up. Doug, Rugrats, Rocko’s Modern Life — and one more that the Randomizer had to ruin for us, Ren & Stimpy. So the Randomizer dealt us Ren & Stimpy: Fire Dogs for the SNES. But we decided to finish off the whole series and throw in Time Warp, Veediots, and Buckroo$ just to torture ourselves. We hope you enjoy our pain but we also do a deep dive into the good and bad history of Ren & Stimpy (along with it’s creator, John K.) There is plenty of nostalgia to soak in, along with the cringe of how awful John K is.
Tyler and Dave love fighting games. Especially Dave. So the Randomizer went full Monkey’s Paw with giving us Power Moves, a clone of a clone of a clone of Street Fighter II. But don’t worry – we also have some hot takes on Jared from Subway and clear up out stance on the edgiest of issues.

Tyler flatly said, as he and Dave lit their replica of the candles Rita Repulsa used to take away the Green Ranger's powers. "It is finished, The Randomizer is sealed...for now." Dave said with an exhausted smile. NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT THE SUPER SCOPE! We were given a great gift by Usurper Grimm with a boxed Super Scope. So we have to talk about the Super Scope and it's packed-in game Super Scope 6. But we do try a hot sauce, talk about port-a-potty problems and delve into some childhood memories. Enjoy!

We here at TADPOG love a good SNES JRPG. Huge fans. So when the Randomizer belched forth an RPG, we were excited. And then we played said RPG, Tecmo Secret of the Stars. We couldn't tackle a game like this without Captain Gun Nerd Jon Turley. So we have some Corona virus chat, give an update on life, drink many drinks, and touch ever so slightly on this game. Enjoy!

OOPS! ALL TANKS! We dun goofed for this one and played too many Battle Tank games. Luckily, Master Cycle Baron Kevin Link was on to even things up. Tyler and Dave played Super Battle Tank 2 and Link played Super Battle Tank. So we covered both - worry not! They are basically the same game. Lots of Tank Talk. Both literal and Girl varieties. It has been over two years since we have recorded our last actual play of the Call of Cthulhu tabletop role-playing game. Rhythm Master Paul Corn, Soul Sister Yarn Sorceress, and Casey (we'll probably come up with a great title for him at some point) join us to roll up some investigators for a campaign entitled Piggy Palace. It's an original story by Tyler that takes place in the crime-ridden streets of 1981 Vancouver, British Columbia. We present to you Chapter One of this story. Many heroes stepped up to go on this journey and those chosen today are one-half of TADPOG’s Sweethearts Josh Nance and Ruby on Rails Baron Paul Clewell. We have chosen our healing potions in the form of stout beer from Kevin Link. Hot dawg! We figured that this was a good week for a swell podcast about Cuphead, the run-and-gunner by StudioMDHR. While this game may have released in 2017, it is undeniably retro-inspired. The investigators can hear the sound of running water and quiet muttering echoing from deep within. A trap door reveals a carved stone staircase that descends into darkness. THERE WILL BE COMBAT.
It’s been awhile since the Suicide Boys have discussed something from Digital Trends’ list of best Sega Genesis games, but here we are talking about Shining Force II. This 1993 tactical role-playing game is one of Tyler’s favorites and is a completely new experience for Dave. There’s actually lots of game talk in this episode but also a lot of catching up and announcements. Tyler blows Dave’s mind with a skin-related revelation, we open what we think is candy, and Dave plugs the Twitch channel a lot.
