Grey Matter Talks with Byron Donovan. From struggling with my own mental health and having many loved ones that have too, I’ve been on a journey for the last 6 years and I’m now the co-founder of a brand that supports mental wellbeing called Grey Matter. With the year we’ve all had, I’ve started this podcast to be a form of therapy for myself and hopefully you too. Every week, I will be speaking with interesting minds to find out how they maintain a healthy mindset and have overcome adversity!

Hey guys, in this episode I sat down with Angus Findlay to discuss his experience with Hypnotherapy.
I first met Angus a couple of years ago when I was first starting Grey Matter and we remained good friends since. Ever since I’ve known Angus, he’s always been very vocal about his mental health and recently told me he started hypnotherapy and how it has been really helping him. So I was keen to get him on the podcast to discuss what hypnotherapy is and how it’s impacted his life so far.
This week, I spoke with Jade Burt to discuss self-acceptance, spirituality, parenthood and mental health.
It was a very honest conversation and I learnt a lot from Jade. 10 years ago she was studying to be a nurse, when she decided to apply for Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model. She not only got into the show but went onto win it.
Fast forward a few years and she became a mum to two boys and at one stage struggle with her mental health during parenthood. Since then she has been on a spiritual journey and now talks openly about her mental health and what has helped her in motherhood, which includes an article she has recently released called Modern Motherhood.
I hope you enjoy the episode!
In this episode, I sat down to chat with Gemma Jennison - she is a registered mental health nurse and after losing her friend to suicide, she has created the Man Down Programme.
This episode is extremely educational and very eye-opening if I’m honest - we touched on the fundamentals of mental illness, what helps those struggling with their mental health and her insights from working in the industry.
This week, Byron chats with friends Joey, Thuta and Mohamed. Byron met these three a couple of years ago and at the time were all starting their own social enterprises.
Joey and Thuta are the founders of Leiho, a brand that supports homelessness and so far they have donated over 6500 essential items to those in need!
Mohamed is the co-founder of Ramadan Legacy, an award-winning education organisation that has a mission to create learning experiences that empower people for the month of Ramadan.
In this episode, we discuss social enterprises and mental health in startups.

Hey guys, on this episode I sat down with Leon Lewis, co-founder of The Man Talk.
Leon created The Man Talk following struggles he had with his own mental health and felt the conversation around mental health in men needed to be more normalised.
Since then, he has arranged events with celebrity panellists and brands such as Gymshark. I really enjoyed this conversation, it was very humbling, open and inspiring.

In this episode, I caught up with a friend, Scott Quinn. A singer-songwriter living in East London. He has performed at Reading & Leeds Festival and has written tracks with the likes of BTS, Zara Larson, Keith Urban and Mister Jam to name a few.
I’ve been friends with Scott for the past couple of years and every time we chat, I always walk away feeling positive and inspired.
From working in the music industry, he has struggled with his mental health in the past, and as a result, he has taken an active interest in mental health, and this conversation was therapeutic, insightful and honest.

Stephanie Goold is a Nutritional Therapist, and Byron sat down with Stephanie to discuss what nutritional therapy is, the impact our diets have on us, and how a good diet can be really beneficial to our mental health.
In this episode, I spoke with Kevin who speaks openly about being diagnosed with Autism and Aspergers in his adult life. When his son, Logan, was diagnosed at 3 years old with high functioning Autism, Kevin also realised he fit all the criteria too.
Due to Kevin not being diagnosed until his later years, he had a lot of trouble growing up and had to work out his own coping strategies.
Now he has got himself to a good place, he has turned his past into a positive and now helps others.

In this episode, I chat with Mark Ormrod MBE - Royal Marine Veteran, Triple amputee, Invictus Games Gold Medallist, Husband and Father.
Born in Plymouth, he joined the Royal Marines and in the early hours of Christmas Eve in 2007 whilst on tour in Afghanistan, his knee hit and detonated an Improvised Explosive Device. From losing both of his legs and an arm, his life changed forever.
With facing severe adversity, this is just one example of where Mark has shown unbelievable mental strength and courage in his life. Despite being told he would never be able to walk again and would be wheelchair-bound, he not only walked again with prosthetics, but he went on to win Gold at the Invictus Games.
Mark is the definition of a hero. Not just because he fought for his country, but because he is living proof that life isn’t about what happens to you, but rather how you choose to react to it.
