January is a time for reflection, fresh starts and resolutions BUT it's important you don't over burden yourself with the weight of expectation from, well, yourself!
Rob and Tom catch up and discuss the importance of stopping, slowing down and not letting high expectations twist into guilt and shame for something you might not have been able to tick off your list.
Remember what's important to you and what truly makes you happy and always keep your eyes focused on that horizon line. After all that's what really matters, not whether or not you've smashed out 1,000,000 steps or only eaten Quorn for a month!
This month's episode is a little different but captures the exact spirit we always wanted when we started the podcast. With no formal into, this show starts off with an off mic chat between rob and Chris (founder of EveryTrade and TDG) and just grows into one of the best chats we've had yet, take a listen and see if it helps you find the same clarity we were lucky enough to take away from this talk!
Join Rob and Tom to celebrate one whole year of the Mind Your Head Podcast - The boys reflect on all they've achieved in the last 12 months and look forward to the year ahead. Whilst we've got you here, we just want to say a huge thank you for all of your love and support over the last year, MYHP just wouldn't be what it was without each and every one of you!
TRIGGER WARNING - Frank discussion and about Suicide - If you or anyone you know is effected by the themes in this show, you can contact Samaritans 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Join Rob and Tom for one from earlier in the year as they sit down with the lovely folks at Manchester Mind for Mental Health Awareness week.
Rob worked with Manchester Mind on their South Manchester allotment. The allotment and Manchester Mind's food poverty work was the jumping off point for the discussion, but as usual, we journey all over the Mental Health map and discover a little more about what Manchester Mind do along the way.
You might have noticed that the Mental Health Awareness week itself took place in May, but as we discuss in the podcast, mental health doesn't descriminate or count the calendar for the right time to strike. So we thought now was as good a time as any to share the chat and get you thinking about Mental health from a slightly different angle!
Join us for a catch-up after a busy couple of months at the MYHP. You'll get a free Geography lesson from Rob, Here him read out names like he's accepting an Oscar and join us in helping Tom to track down his long lost Pokémon cards! Oh, and ignore the sirens and yappy dog, truth is Rob's on the run (keep it between us though yeah?) For all of our servicemen and women remember there are fantastic resources you can access 24/7 like togetherall.com, combatstress.org.uk and of course the samaritans on 116 123.
Coming live from the echoiest room on the face of the planet this month we have one from the archives - earlier this year Rob sat down with Martin Coyd, a titan of the industry with a lifelong passion for Rugby League. Come and join us for this catch up, recorded at Network Rail HQ, which turned out to be one of the most captivating chats we've had so far on the Mind Your Head Podcast!
