THE CONDITION OF YOUR HEART

What is the condition of your heart today? Many people do not realize that what is happening within us is affecting and determining most of the circumstances happening around us. The Bible teaches us to guard our hearts with all diligence, because out of it flows all the issues of our life.

In the study, we will examine what the Bible teaches about our heart, and how God wants to restore wholeness within our hearts, not just change our outward circumstances.

All of the great men and women of God have all understood something very important…that we are what we are, by the grace of God. The apostle Paul said, By the grace of God, I am what I am.

As a believer, we relate to God on the basis of what Jesus Christ has already done for us, not on the basis of our performance or perfection. Even though we know this with our minds, sometimes it takes time before the Holy Spirit is able to really get this belief firmly established deep into our hearts.

God wants to bring us out of struggling and trying to measure up through our own strength, will power & performance, into a life empowered by his grace.

In the series, we look at the dangers of passivity & the consequences of unfulfilled potential in our lives.

The first war that ever took place was in heaven, and God was not passive! As soon as you become a follower of Jesus Christ you entered a spiritual battle Thank God, through Jesus Christ we have been empowered to be more than conquerors, but we must put on the full armour of God & have a will to fight for what God has given us.

There are two ways we can live our walk with God:

  1. We can try to follow a bunch of rules & regulations…

…Which always ends in frustration & defeat.

  1. Or we can live the way God intended…

… Living contact with God.

Jesus said if we would remain in him, and His word remain in us, our lives would produce spiritual fruit. Walking in fellowship with God produces victory in our lives.

As believers, we must take the time & the effort to dig deeper into our walk with God.

Too many believers have not taken the time to become established in a close walk with God through His Word & prayer. Therefore, when the pressures of life come, they are moved away from the promises of God.

The apostle Paul said in Colossians 1:23 NLT “But you must CONTINUE to believe this truth and “stand firmly” in it. Don’t DRIFT AWAY from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News.”

Listen to the series and put these teachings into practice in your life to grow stronger.

The simplest way to define faith is “acting like the Bible is true for you”.

In other words, how would you act and what would you say if you knew that God has already answered your prayer .

The first action of faith, is the speaking part.

Mark 11:22-23 Jesus said that we must speak to the mountain, and we shall have whatever we say .

If our faith is not strong enough to move our mouth, then it’s not strong enough to move our mountain.

There are two different viewpoints from which we can live our life.

A humanistic viewpoint; where we are accountable to no one, and our life is our own.

However, as a Christian, we are called to live with a biblical viewpoint where we recognize that God is the owner of our lives.

Our lives have a purpose that is much higher than just living for ourselves. Our lives are not our own. God created us; God purchased us; God sustains us, and provides for all of our needs.

Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.”

1 Corinthians 6:19 “…you are not your own.”

Romans 14:8 “…we are the Lord’s.”

The Power of Praise

Praise is an essential part of how we express our daily walk of faith. It not only helps us to express our love and thanksgiving to God, it's also a weapon that helps us overcome the works of the enemy.

In the New Testament, we see many places where the Apostle Paul uses military terminologies to describe the Christian life:

• Fight the good fight of faith

• You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Many people that have given their lives to Jesus have not understood the gospel properly. Therefore, when the pressures of life come upon them, they are discouraged, unprepared & not ready to fight the good fight of faith.

Living by faith does not mean an easy life without challenges. On the contrary, the Word of God tells us that our faith will be tested! It is important that every Christian understands that God is with us in every test & trial, but we still have to fight to stand in the Victory Jesus purchased for us!

In the book of Acts, after the resurrection of Jesus, the essential message of each recorded

sermon was:

  • Jesus died for our sins

  • Jesus was buried

  • Jesus was resurrected from the dead on the third day

When this gospel message was preached, the people that open their hearts & believe the message

experienced the miracle working power of God. It removed their sins, healed their bodies & restored their lives.

1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but

to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

There is power in the message of the cross! Power to completely transform our lives.

HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN

As believers, it’s important for us to understand the operation of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

When we give our lives to Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us. But, there is a separate experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit; where the spirit of God comes upon our lives to give us power for service.

This teaching explains the difference between the Holy Spirit within, and the Holy Spirit upon our lives.

When Adam sinned in the garden of Eden he died spiritually; he was disconnected from fellowship with God. Mankind needed a bridge back to God.

John 10:10 Tells us why Jesus came… “He came to give us Life!”

The life that he was talking about is the kind of life that would be imparted into our spirit.

He told a religious ruler that every man must be ‘Born Again.’ Jesus was talking about the spirit of man. When we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord a miracle takes place and we receive the God kind of life inside of us.

And now the Bible tells us in the new covenant that everyone who belongs to Jesus Christ is the seed of Abraham and our inheritance is that same blessing!

From the beginning of creation, when God first created man, the first words that God spoke to his man was, “Be blessed and have dominion!”

Even after man sinned and walked away from God, God’s plan for men never changed.

Again, when he makes covenant with Abraham, immediately he tells Abraham that he will bless him and his seed.

And now the Bible tells us in the new covenant that everyone who belongs to Jesus Christ is the seed of Abraham and our inheritance is that same blessing!

God’s plan is still to “Bless you and make you a blessing!”

In this powerful message we cover the truth of why Jesus came, and the victory that he won for us at the cross. On the day of Pentecost, after the resurrection of Jesus, there was a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon 120 believers. These believers were completely transformed by the power of God and 3000 new believers were added to the church that day when the apostle Peter preached the first sermon.

From that day forward, we see that every believer that received Jesus Christ was also brought into the experience of receiving the infilling of the Holy Spirit and power, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. For the past 2000 years, the gospel has been preached around the world under the inspiration and power of the Holy Spirit with signs and wonders following.

Open your heart, and receive the fire of God, and take the gospel to the world around you.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.”

1 Corinthians 1:18 MSG “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it as the power of God."

People see the symbol of the cross in churches, as ornaments or jeweler, but many people fail to really understand what Jesus actually did for us at the cross. When we speak about the cross, we are talking about the death, the burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We must see the complete picture in order to understand and receive by faith what Jesus has done for us.

The cross is the foundation of the Christian life. When somebody truly encounters Jesus and what He did for them at the cross, the power of God is released into their lives and they are never the same again.

I would like to get in shape but I don’t think I am disciplined enough. The list goes on and on. “But I,” is a belief that limits and hinders people from making progress.

Over and over we see people have many excuses of why they could not… but the Bible contains a simple phrase that can change everything…“But God!”

Maybe you have been hindered from making any progress in your life… “But God” can turn your apparent defeat into victory!

Hebrews 11:3 “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”

Scripture reveals to us that everything God did and continues to do this world, He does by speaking words. God’s Word is filled with God’s power.

Scripture also tells us that we are workers together with God. God gave man authority in this world. It is the will of God that we take His Word; put His Word in our mouths and declare it by faith. God’s Word changes things to line up with his will.

God’s Word was first spoken; then it was written. It was written so we as believers could put His Word into our mouth and speak it to change our circumstances and our lives.

HOPE; THE ANCHOR FOR OUR SOUL

Many believers are trying to live by faith without realizing that there are two other ingredients that are

vital to our life of faith and our ability to receive from God. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:13 that

there are three things that will last forever; Faith, Hope, and Love.

Faith will not work without love, nor can it produce any results without hope. Many people mistake this

word hope for wishful thinking. Bible hope is very powerful. It is the blueprint for our lives & is built

upon the sure foundation of the promises of God. It is the anchor for our emotions to keep us from being

tossed about in life’s storms.

CHRISTMAS REMINDERS

When we read the Christmas story and the events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ, there are certain elements that stand out in our memories. We are reminded of:

  • that special Star the wise men followed

  • a Heavenly host of angels appearing to the Shepherds

  • a virgin bearing a child.

All of these events actually, historically happened. This message summarizes these elements to reveal the real purpose Jesus came to this earth as a baby.

View Details

For thousands of years, the prophets spoke of the coming of the Messiah.

Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive

and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

‘Emmanuel’ means God with us. God would come and become a man. Jesus Christ was born in

humble circumstances and grow up to shake the world in a 3 ½ year ministry. When He went to

the cross He open the way for every human being to come back into relationship with God.

Many missed His first coming. He said He was coming again. Don’t miss His second coming!

Merry Christmas!

We are all called to be disciples of Jesus and to serve Him. However, there is a price to pay if you are going to walk in God’s plan for your life and there is a quality decision that must be made. In Luke 14:25-33 there was large crowd in Jesus’ meeting that were enjoying the blessings, but then Jesus turned to them and began speaking about what it means to truly follow Him. This message separates those who are following Jesus for what they can get, from those who truly love God and are willing to set aside their own plans to walk in God’s plan.

Let this message encourage you to step into a deeper walk with God

Many believers get side-tracked from the main assignment that God has given to the church. In the Christian life we can get busy doing many things that are good, but we must never forget that our main assignment is to share the gospel with people and to make disciples.

The Church is called to fulfill the Great Commission and care for the needs of people.

In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus tells us that the “main business of the Church” has to do with the Eternal part of people’s lives. Reaching, Teaching & Mobilizing is our goal.
