The Reading Rainstorm picks up their flagship book and continues to book two of the Arch of a Scythe Series written by Neal Schusterman, The Thunderhead! This time though, we will be reading the book in whole sections and reviewing 6 to 7 chapters at a time.Â
In the first section, we are immediately introduced to new Scythes and their unique methods of gleaning as the book bokator kicks you in the face with some action. Old characters are re-introduced, and all question the philosophy of this world. We ponder Rowan's fashion choices and ask if he chose the appropriate color for his stolen robes? Controversy ensues on whether he is a Scythe or not? The lovable Tyger Salazar comes in hot and exits eating a sandwich, dropping bombs on Ronald Daniels as he leaves to party on in Texas, which still does things differently in this world. In short, this was a phenomenal fail of ending compared to the books. Many who have read the books could attest to the disservice of what Robert Jordan had created. Listen in to find out why this is true.

Episode 5 of the Wheel of Time Amazon Prime series goes in a widely different direction and puts the middle finger to any kind of character development that was laid out for them in comparison to the books. Okay so it may not be that bad but we are thrown one month into the future and skip over 75% of the book and start touching on book two. How they are going to recover from this we are very curious because so many plot points and characters that are needed to develop the story how it should be are cut out. Loial was the largest cinematic fail fantasy since the final episode of Game of Thrones and what in the hell was up with that Wolf of Wall Street scene at the end of the episode. Episode 4 and there is still hope for the show. We begin to see it take a different direction than the books in several aspects culminating in an epic scene that is new to the series and well worth the watch. There is a lot to enjoy and a list of characters, places, and events that are completely skipped that we go over in comparison.

Moving right into Episode 2, Tim and Kevin continue to discuss the differences and similarities between the books and TV show. It has been 1.5 years for them since reading book one and potentially 32 years for some of the original readers of the series. They get things mixed up on what happens in books 1 and 2, so don’t quote them on it. The show is wonderfully done cinematically, with traces of things left out here and there.
