What i love about this interview is how Annie helps us realize that wellness isn’t something you buy, it’s something you create. It’s a way of living and a way of being. There are so many different cultures around the globe that don’t have all the material stuff that we have in the US, yet in every culture you will find people who are happy and fulfilled and love life. Yet in America it’s a common sentiment that we need something outside of us, something to buy that will bring us more wellness. And how does this relate to real estate? Wellness real estate is a $275 billion dollar industry because developers are realizing that people want to live healthier they want to live in communities that support well being, so new communities that are designed with well being in mind are popping up all over the globe. As a wellness focused agent, you too can have an impact on your local community by creating a tribe of home wellness professionals that you can network with and refer out - you can share with your audience ways to live healthier and how to create a home environment that is more comfortable and joyful to live in. So, if you are one of those agents that wants to make a difference, and you want to have raving clients that understand you care about them and their families - it’s because you’ve helped them with more than a real estate transaction - then you are going to want to stay tuned to today’s episode. I had the pleasure of interviewing Brian Grover, the developer of Fox Point Farms, which is brand new Agrihood currently being built in Encinitas, CA. Have you heard of the term Agrihood before? It’s a fairly new concept of neighborhood from many forward-thinking developers across the country. It’s a community design bringing people and agriculture together in a suburban setting. It’s a fast growing trend because of all the amazing benefits it brings to the residents and I’m super excited today to have one of these forward thinking developers here on the show!
Brian Grover, a resident of Encinitas, California founded Nolen Communities with the intent of building communities that encourage place-making, interaction, and the sense of community that we have lost by virtue of how housing projects and communities have been built in the past 40-50 years. He has recently proposed developing an agrihood in his home-town, and for those of you who are unfamiliar with where Encinitas is located, it’s a beach town in north san diego county. The new development is a 21 acre site that contained commercial green houses and one single family home, surrounded by suburban residential communities. He’s proposed a new agrihood called Fox Point Farms that was unanimously approved by the city council and is scheduled to be completed in late 2023.
As a real estate agent it’s important to stay on top of development trends! Wellness real estate developments are one of those growing trends worth talking about with your clients! Not only does it provide you easy free flowing conversation topics that are still real estate related, it positions you as a forward thinking agent who understands where the real estate of the future is headed. So, let’s get to this interview with Brian where you’ll lean all the components of this exciting new community called Fox Point Farms. Let’s grow!

Today I have Garnie Nygren from the very first wellness lifestyle neighborhood - Serenbe located just outside Atlanta GA. I interviewed Garnie last year for my other podcast Blooming! A healthy home by design, but I thought I should share the story of Serenbe here too. What is so interesting about this story to me is how one person with a great idea can create positive impact that has a ripple effect across the world. Serenbe was the very first wellness lifestyle community that started because the land owners wanted to protect their own backyard from urban sprawl. Now it is known as t he first Agrihood and has been the inspiration for wellness lifestyle communities across the country.
If you are new to wellness real estate, you’ll love to hear about the unfolding of this incredible community and how it has inspired a whole new segment of real estate development: wellness real estate - intentionally planned neighborhoods centered on the wellbeing of the residents

In this episode, Christoper is going to share why he feels it is important to market to this underrepresented segment of consumers. Not only are green and energy efficient features a benefit to homeowners, but as the industry changes and more are providing sustainable solutions, ROI of green is becoming more visible. It’s a huge opportunity to serve and market these clients and so i’m excited to have Christoper here on the show. At the NAR conference this year -he’s on a panel called why add green to your team? So if you want to know how you can leverage this surging demand of wellness / green in your business… stay tuned!
Today you are in for a treat because I’ve got the founder and CEO of Realty Sage on the show, Kari Klaus. If you aren’t familiar with Realty Sage it’s a real estate search platform that helps market high performance and sustainably built homes. so kind of like a zillow for green homes.
Klaus’s award-winning tech start-up company, showcases eco-certified homes and evaluates the features of millions of homes across the country and applies a Sage Score based on the quantity and quality of a home’s sustainable features, including whether it has clean energy, certifications and overall sustainable design. There a quite a few home certifications currently out there and the sage score attempts to level the playing field so they make sense to the consumer.
This intelligence is being applied to professional services as well. Klaus recently expanded her vast database to include the RealtySage Pros platform, which already has nearly 150,000 agent profiles across the country. This referral service matches consumers based on their individual home-buying and selling needs to agents based on their knowledge and experience.
So if you are a real estate agent and you are looking for ways to attract quality leads or you are trying to find ways to differentiate yourself. Getting familiar with realty sage is an easy way to do this! Stay tuned for this awesome interview to learn how! Let’s grow!

You may or may not realize that there is a movement happening across the country - it’s a wellness movement that started many years ago but has been propelled even further by this recent pandemic. And it’s not about fitness and nutrition or even health care. It’s about well being and how that comes from all around us, from our thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, interactions, conversations, and connections to our physical surroundings, how we live: specifically our home environment.
I’m talking about wellness real estate. Now when I say wellness real estate, it may mean nothing to you, or you may think of developers and wellness lifestyle communities. but you might be wondering, how does this pertain to me as an agent when the majority of homes I sell are existing homes not new construction? and Maybe there aren’t any wellness neighborhoods around you.
This is where the opportunity lies……and there are some forward thinking agents who also see that opportunity .
Today I’m so excited to bring Neal Collins from Latitude here on the show. He and his wife Alissa are brokers in Portland organ and have started a movement of their own which they have coined Regenerative Real estate. They have created a platform where agents across the country can have more purpose driven work. Today we have Allison Smith from Olivette, a riverside farm to table community located right outside of Asheville, NC.
So as a real estate agent why should you care about this? Wellness real estate is a term coined by the global wellness institute and did you know that it's more than $134 Billion dollar industry already? It began many years ago as a developers movement to create communities that are more thoughtful in design that centers around the well being of the residents rather than density and the bottom line.
Today we have Kevin Kane on the show and he’s the chief economist at Green Homeowners united.
Green Homeowners United was started for a simple reason: to make it easy for people to do one of the most important steps to fight climate change and save money in the process. They exists to make it easier for homeowners and homebuyers to improve their property with renewable energy, energy-efficiency retrofits and water saving opportunities; and we help people find fair financing to afford the carbon-cutting upgrades that normally would be out of reach.
As a real estate agent, did you know that there is a product out there called Green mortgages?
As the name implies, a “Green Mortgage” is an environmentally friendly type of home loan. But how do you make a mortgage environmentally friendly? Also known as Energy Efficient Mortgage Programs, Green Mortgages are a special type of loan that is designed to help homeowners make their home more energy efficient, saving them money and the planet at the same time.
