I released episode 5 very late last week. Therefore, starting with Dragons of Fate Episode 6, I move to a Wednesday and Saturday release schedule. I think it is much more sustainable in the long run. In this episode, I finish up Book 1 of Dragons of Fate. Sandwiched between two pretty epic chapters, we get a less epic chapter of Tas discovering some of the truth behind the gnomes invention of the Dragonlance.

Dragons of Fate episode 5 comes 5 days late. As I discovered this week, the beginning of the school year comes hard and fast. As a result, you only get one episode this week. However, I worked the rest of the time to start to read the next chapters and take my notes. Therefore, I am right on schedule to release on Tuesday and Thursday of next week. Also, I need to edit and get the first episode of the reboot of the reboot of the main show for next week. Keep an eye out for that then and for the rest of the year.

I took last week off. That might have been a mistake. Even though I'm releasing Dragons of Fate Episode 3 in time with the revamped schedule, this week is shaping up to be busier than anticipated. Thursday and Friday I am going camping with Quinn. Maybe I can get Episode 4 out on Saturday and then get back to Tuesday and Thursday releases next week. That actually sounds perfect. I started the new series on Tuesday with Episode 1. After only three chapters, I like this book much more than the first. After reviewing chapters 4, 5, and 6, I talk a bit about why I like the set up of these chapters and then another reason why the book might be better than the first. Dragons of Fate Episode 2 ends with a discussion of two lessons learned from the introduction of Huma and Magius into the story.

Back from Cape Cod after reading the book and taking notes, I present you with Dragons of Fate Episode 1. The book picks up where Dragons of Deceit left off almost to the second. Fitting as the series is all about time travel. Not to give the ending away too early, but I already enjoy this book much more than the first one. Plenty to discuss in this Movie Vs. Ready Player One episode. As I mention in the show, not much survives from the book to the movie. So, first, I give a synopsis of the movie. I started simply by listing things I noticed from the movie. Then, I mostly noticed how different it was and that a new synopsis might be necessary.
I then talk about those differences and what they mean for the movie. After that, I discuss the themes from the book that made it into the movie. Obviously, the anti-capitalism gets toned down majorly. However, if you read the book many of the other themes show up in some form or another.
Speaking of the book, if you never read the book, read the book! Then, come back to listen to the rest of Noob's Book Club: Ready Player One. After that, come back so that we can have a discussion about it. And, with Movie Vs. Ready Player One, the series comes to a conclusion.
Next up, I promised Dragons of Fate. Because we are big time here at 2 Generations Gaming, I received the book a day early. Actually, I just think someone messed up a shipping date. But, I'll take it. So, I read the first three chapters and the first installment arrives on August 15th. Talk to you then!
I finally return with the long promised Ready Player One finale episode. However, as I discuss in the episode, I can call this the penultimate episode once again to use one of my favorite words. In the episode, I talk a little bit about my experiences with Ready Player One and Sandman and how they parallel one another.
I then move on to the topic of artificial intelligence. This, of course, touches on some of my pet peeves of billionaires killing the planet, the need for collective action, and the general ill effects of capitalism on our lives and planet. Even though this is the Ready Player One finale for the book, stay tuned for the Movie Vs. episode. I thought I would release it this weekend, but we are taking our annual trip to Cape Cod. So, I will try to record it over the next couple of days and release it on the weekend when we come back to pick up Quinn from camp.

While I kept the podcast going with some short mini episodes during our trip to Germany, I intended to release these two interlude episodes as well. It came as a bit of a shock that they are the only episodes that I need in between now because Dragons of Fate releases on August 2. I started with The Road to Neverwinter because I read the book on the trip and wrote the episode without watching the movie again.
I discuss some of the shortcomings of the movie, why they don't matter to fans of the game, and then talk briefly about spoilers. Finally, I go over the plot and the characters from the book. All of this I discuss in the context of reading The Road to Neverwinter after watching the companion movie. Overall, I consider this a success. After reading Dragons of Fate, I plan to release more of these. Then, I need to pick another book.
I learned far too late that I could pause while I turn a page and that makes it easier to edit it out of the show. You can't say that I ever claimed to be a professional. I simply make content that I enjoy. Then, I hope that others find it and enjoy it, too.

Because I don't have a soundproof booth in which to record, I wrestle with the sounds of the season. One of those sounds that's consistent enough to annoy the hell out me? Cars. They constantly drive up and down my street. Granted, we live on a main street, but it's kind of ridiculous the traffic we get for this crap town. I'm convinced it's because of the map algorithms pushing people up this way to get to and from New Hampshire.

In Ready Player One Episode 13, the penultimate episode, I cover chapter 34, 35, and 36. The four left have to work together to bring down the shield, defeat Sorrento and the Sixers, and enter the final gate. In that spirit, my big topic of the episode is "cooperation". That naturally leads to more discussion of our capitalist society and the toxic individualism that it breeds.

Ready Player One Episode 6 breaks with recent tradition and covers 4 chapters of the book. The reason for this is that chapter 16 is short and it leads into a natural stopping point with the beginning of "Level 2". No therapy for me in this episode, but I finally put together that every episode includes an over arching theme that I discuss. You just have to listen to find out what the theme is this time.

I need to take some time this weekend and update the banner for the page since that's now a month and a half old. But, content is what matter. Well, I disappeared for a little over a week. I explain my disappearance in Ready Player One Episode 4, but I think an explanation is necessary here, too. I took kids to play, soccer, and now baseball. Suddenly, I got from no free time to much free time again. Play is over this week (rehearsal ended last week), soccer ends in a few weeks, and only baseball remains. So, the schedule for this week follows. Today, Thursday, and Sunday. 3 chapters per episode and I finish right around the same time right before we leave for Germany.

Very late, but here's Ready Player One Episode 3. I spent much of this week sick on the couch, so that's the main reason. But, I found some time in between baseball and soccer to record, edit, and release the episode. One thing. This is the last week of play rehearsal, so hopefully that means more time to record. After Wednesday and Sunday of this week, I have a possible schedule for three days a week again. Then again, reading 3 chapters per episode might work out, too.

Best laid plans and all that. I wanted to release two episodes this week and maybe even get ahead on my reading schedule because it was April break from school. But, we had too much fun in the Berkshires with friends, so Ready Player One Episode 2 comes now. I already read and wrote my summary for the next episode, though, for chapters 4, 5, and 6. So, with that and three chapters the following episode, that puts me back on schedule.

After wrapping up Dragons of Deceit, we move on to the next book in Noob's Book Club. Ready Player One Episode 1 covers the prologue and chapter 1 in the book. It also wrestles with some baggage that the book picked up in the past decade plus of its existence. But, I think we can all be adults and discuss both the book and the baggage.

After two long weeks, I'm finally here with the finale of the first series of Noob's Book Club.
