Music Beyond Borders

Nikhil Koparkar is a Los Angeles based award-winning composer for films, TV and games. His work has been featured on Discovery Channel/TLC networks and Amazon Studios. Growing up in an Indian household, he was frequently exposed to the music of his culture, as well as other parts of the world, influences which he uses in his compositions. His most recent album project NATURE OF ALL THINGS, blends the santoor (Indian hammered dulcimer) with a western cinematic orchestral sound, which was nominated for a Hollywood Music In Media Award. His show MUSIC BEYOND BORDERS explores this amalgamation of styles. It features music and interviews with other artists who take bold leaps in incorporating South Asian music, instrumentation, and cultural tradition, fusing them with genres not limited to pop, rock, jazz, and even the music of other cultures. We live in a time when information is more readily available now than ever, and people’s interest in South Asian culture and influence continues to rise, and the possibilities to explore and be inspired by that is boundless — Music Beyond Borders is a deep dive into the music that’s a constant reminder that the world isn’t such a vast place after all.
