The Wolverines are the defending State 3A football champions and the Vikings are the defending State 4A football champions.

The last Prep Sports Weekly of the 2023-24 high school sports season; Monday, June 10, 2024. We wrap-up the last of our spring sports state champions with Archbishop Murphy’s Cole Balin, who won the Class 2A state boys tennis singles title. Then a trio of track champions: Grace Academy’s Pierce Hess (100, 200, 400 meters); King’s Anna Hoke and Coach Rod Wilcox (Anna was a member of the 4x400 relay team, and the King’s girls won the state 1A track & field team title); and Lake Stevens’ David “Boogie” Brown and teammate Stephen Lee Jr. (David won the 4A 110 hurdles; they were both members of the Lake Stevens state champion football team in the fall). We end the show with our “Exit Interview” with long-time Arlington head boys basketball coach Nick Brown who is retiring from coaching the Eagles; he’s joined by his replacement (and former player) Drew Bryson.
The State Championship Spring Sports Edition, Part One, on this week's Prep Sports Weekly for Monday, June 3, 2024. We start with the Jackson Timberwolves Boys Tennis Team, that took the first place team title; with head coach David Hutt and players Henry Park, Ben Lee and Ashton Bergman. Then another Jackson team, this time the Softball team that won their second consecutive title with head coach Kyle Peacocke and players Yanina Sherwood, Rachel Sysum, Hailey Pelletier and Leneyah Mitchell. Next we hear from Jackson girls golf, with the state individual champion Changyoung Park and her coach Jerome Gotz. Finally, three track champions: Maya Velasquez (Marysville Pilchuck) won the 3A high jump event; Ethan Ralston (Lakewood) won the 2A shot put; and Mateo Ganje (Glacier Peak) won the 4A 200 meter dash.
It's a "Best Of Prep Sports Weekly" for this Memorial Day 2024. We revisit our "exit interview" with Nalin Sood, the now-retired head boys basketball coach at Mountlake Terrace High School. And, on this Memorial Day, we hear the story of Everett Memorial Stadium from our resident historian Larry O'Donnell.

It's a state championship edition of Prep Sports Weekly on Monday, March 25, 2024. We start with Lake Stevens boys swimmers, who won the Class 4A 200 free relay: Camden Blevins-Mohr, Coren Coe, Sebastian Erickson and Samuel Lamb at the state swim meet in February at the Weyerhaueser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. (Camden also won individual medals in the 100 butterfly and 50 free). Lake Stevens coach Brady Dykgraaf also joined them. Then, it's Archbishop Murphy's Evan Wold and coach David Whitmore; Evan won the 2A 100 breast stroke. Next up, it's the Arlington Eagles with state champions Dustin Baxter (165 lbs) and Tre Haines (157 lbs) and head coach Jonny Gilbertson. Finally, it's Glacier Peak wrestlers Karianne Baldwin (who won her third state title); Gil Mossburg and Connor Aney (who won his second title). They were joined by GP coaches Bryan Mossburg and Jordan Gere.

2024 Class 4A State Boys Basketball Tournament Round Two: The Glacier Peak Grizzlies meet the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups; live from The Tacoma Dome; Thursday, February 29, 2024. Tom Lafferty and Joel Boyer on the call. KRKO Marysville Toyota Co-Players of the Game were junior guard Jo Lee and sophomore guard Reed Nagel; they led the Grizzlies from 10 points down to a 65-58 overtime win. Glacier Peak advances to the state semi-finals on Friday at The Dome.
2024 Class 4A State Boys Basketball Tournament Round One: The Glacier Peak Grizzlies meet the Camas Papermakers; live from The Tacoma Dome; Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Tom Lafferty and Joel Boyer on the call. KRKO Marysville Toyota Player of the Game was Isaiah Cuellar who scored 24 points in leading the Grizzlies from 20 points down to a 65-61 win. Glacier Peak advances to the state quarterfinals on Thursday at The Dome.
Prep Sports Weekly for Monday, February 26, 2024. It's a state basketball tournament preview show with two coaches heading to the Tacoma Dome: Brian Hunter of the Glacier Peak Boys team (playing Camas on Wednesday) and Joe Marsh of the Arlington Girls team (playing the winner of Snohomish/Kennewick game on Thursday). Three area teams are heading to the 2A/1A state tournament at the Yakima Sundome this week, including the Sultan boys team, we hear from head coach Nate Trichler and both the King's boys and girls teams with head coaches Joe Stack and Dan Taylor.

KRKO Marysville Toyota Player of the Game was Oregon-bound senior guard Katie Fiso, who scored 22 points to lead the three-time defending state champion Bulldogs to a 46-40 win. Both teams advance to the Tacoma Dome.
The Mount Vernon Bulldogs meet the Monroe Bearcats in a winner-to-state; loser-out game on the final day of the 2024 Northwest District Boys Basketball Tournament at The Jim Linden Fieldhouse at Marysville Pilchuck High School. Saturday, February 17, 2024 with Tom Lafferty and Darrell Olson on the call. KRKO Marysville Toyota Player of the Game was senior guard Quinn Swanson who scored 32 points, leading the Bulldogs to a 68-66 win and advance to the 3A Regionals.

She scored 11 points for the Eagles, and was tasked with guarding Archbishop Murphy's best player. Final Score: Arlington 74, Archbishop Murphy 61.

Tom Lafferty and Joel Boyer on the call. KRKO Marysville Toyota Player of the Game was senior guard Dawson Bouma of Lynden Christian. He scored 38 points in the Lyncs' 66-64 overtime win. Lynden Christian scored 5 points in the final 5 seconds of regulation to send the game to an extra session. Both teams were undefeated coming into the contest. Lynden Christian is the two-time defending State 1A Champion.

We celebrate two high school football championships on tonight's edition of Prep Sports Weekly. Monday, December 4, 2023. We relive the post-game highlights and interviews from Saturday night's 4A championship game which saw Lake Stevens defeated Graham-Kapowson 31-6 at Husky Stadium in Seattle. Interviews included: Head Coach Tom Tri, Assistant Coach Lew Widmann; and players Mason Turner, Kolton Matson, Jesse Lewis, Esteban Sedano and former Viking Jayden Limar. Then, the football story of the last decade in the north sound, the Anacortes Seahawks won the 2A title, also on Saturday, with a resounding 60-30 win over the Tumwater Thunders; four years prior, Anacortes could not field a varsity football team. We hear from the architects of that come-back story, Athletic Director Justin Portz and head coach Travis Anderson.

Lake Stevens defeated Graham-Kapowsin 31-6 and won their second consecutive state title.

He won the state championship at the Cross Country meet held in Pasco in the Ambulatory Division. Jacob is joined on the show by his dad Steve Hopkins and his coach Steve Landro. Then it's football state championship week, we hear from group of Lake Stevens athletes as they prepare to meet the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles on Saturday night at Husky Stadium. In the group are Coach Tom Tri and players Kolton Matson, Mason Turner, Bryce Slezak, Gabe Kylany and Blake Moser.

The penultimate edition of Prep Sports Weekly for the 2022-2023 season on Monday, May 29, 2023. We hear from the out-going and incoming athletic directors at Snohomish. Mark Perry is retiring and former Stanwood basketball coach Zach Ward is taking over; we hear from them both. Then Zac Hereth of the Everett Herald gives us a wrap-up of the State 4A and 3A Track Meet, held at Mount Tahoma High School over the Memorial Day weekend. Finally, it's become a tradition for Kyle Peacocke, head softball coach at Jackson, to appear after winning a state 4A championship. He's been on our show with the big trophy in 2018, 2019 and again in 2023.

Our winning quarterback is Trent Nobach of Arlington; he led the Eagles with 4 touchdown passes in a 35-7 win over Edmonds-Woodway on Friday night.

Our final show of the 2020-2021 school year. Segment #1 featured Ryan Arlington High School Class of 2014 student alum Ryan Walker. Walker is currently a pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization and playing for the Eugene Emeralds, who are in town this week to take on the Everett Aqua Sox. We also surprised Walker with a special appearance from his high school baseball coach, Scott Striegel.
Segment #2 was an interview with Mountlake Terrace High School Boys Basketball Head Coach Nalin Sood and his stepson Robbie Baringer, a three year player on the Hawks varsity basketball team.
Our final segment was Lake Stevens Girls Basketball Head Coach Randall Edens and his daughter Ella, a sophomore player on the Vikings team.
We ended the show by going over our Prep Sports Weekly final stats of the year, courtesy of Brandon Hamilton. Some of the more interesting facts: Larry O'Donnell was our most frequent guest with 6 appearance while Lake Stevens and Snohomish tied for the title of most different guests from the same school with 17 each.
Prep Sports Weekly for Monday May 31, 2021 included four segments featuring winter sports coaches and one player who tied a basketball school scoring record last Thursday.
Mariner Marauders Boys Basketball Head Coach Tevin Dillon was on the opening segment. The Marauders are undefeated after seven games this season, including a 64-36 win over Glacier Peak on Thursday night.
Lakewood Cougars Boys Basketball Head Coach Anthony Wiederkehr and LHS player Shae Dixon were featured on the second segment. The Cougars are off to a 5-1 start to their season and Dixon tied a 32 year old school record by scoring 43 points in the Cougar's 76-50 win over Cedarcrest.
Sultan Turks Girls Basketball Coach Todd Weideman was on during the third segment to talk about his team's 5-0 start to the season. The Turks were 7-13 last year and feature 7 seniors.
The final segment of the night featured two Snohomish High School alums that now coach the Panthers boys and girls wrestling teams. Dan Mundell coaches the girls and Alex Fairhurst coaches the boys. Both shared insight into their teams and the challenges of wrestling during the pandemic.
Prep Sports Weekly for Monday May 17, 2021 covered Boys Swimming, Football and Boys Basketball. Segment 1 featured Kamiak Boys and Girls Swimming Head Coach Chris Erickson. Erickson gave us a general update on what swimming meets are looking like during Stage 3 and also talked about his star swimmers, twins Vlad and Slava Gilszmer as well as the other key members of the team.
Ryland Spencer of Cascadia Preps talked about all things high school football in segment 2. Topics ranged from the Cleats vs Cancer game that took place over the weekend, some of the key local players and who he thinks will be the top teams in the state in the Fall.
Cleats vs Cancer football players Jai Nath of Mountlake Terrace and Makai Williams of Snohomish were the guests during the 3rd segment and talked about their experiences over the weekend, their football careers and college ambitions.
Cascade Bruins Boys Basketball Head Coach Shane Stenesen was on during the final segment and provided us with information about his team and shared with us his basketball coaching background.
Prep Sports Weekly for May 10, 2021 had us saying goodbye to the Spring Sports season and hello to Winter sports (as crazy as that sounds). Our first two segments reviewed seasons that just concluded and the final two segments for basketball previews.
Arlington multi sport athlete junior, Trent Nobach joined the show to talk about his stellar golf season. Trent finished the season as the top Wesco golfer and his Eagles team finished 1st in the Wesco North Division. We also discussed the broken collarbone injury that prematurely ended his football season, his upcoming basketball season and his college football prospects.
Monroe Bearcats Baseball Head Coach Eric Chartrand was our guest during the 2nd segment. The Bearcats varsity and junior varsity teams both finished the season with 12-1 records and are poised to have another big season in 2022.
Marysville Pilchuck Boys Basketball Head Coach Bary Gould and Assistant Coach Luke Carpenter joined the show for Segment 3. Bary is entering his 16th and final season as the Head Coach as he will be resigning in June to move to Texas to be closer to family. Luke has already been hired to be his replacement starting this Fall.
Archbishop Murphy 1st year Girls Basketball Head Coach Ebany Herd was on during our final segment to talk about her background and thoughts about the upcoming season.
Prep Sports Weekly for May 3, 2021 featured a local national champion as we had the opportunity to introduce E-Sports to the show. Lacrosse and golf interviews were also covered.
Glacier Peak Boys Lacrosse was the topic of choice for the opening segment. Grizzlies Head Coach Michael Rexrode and players Ryan Black and Daxton Jensen were on together to talk about their lacrosse backgrounds and teammates. The guys then ran off to an evening practice session at which point Daxton's father, Glacier Peak Lacrosse Club Athlete Director Ryan Jensen talked about the growth of the sport in Snohomish County and how kids of all ages and become involved.
We then focused our attention on the world of E-Sports, as on-line video games are becoming more popular than ever. Lake Stevens junior student Jair Velazquez recently won the Madden 21 National Championship, winning a trophy and a medal for himself and a $1000 for the high school. Jair and LSHS E-Sports Advisor/English Teach Trevor Wood joined us to talk about Jair's success and the ever-changing world of E-Sports and the impact at the high school level.
Everett Golfer Ronny Kildall and Head Coach Darrell Olson were on during the final segment to talk about Ronny's golf and basketball accomplishments for the Seagulls and what is has meant for both of them to have a golf season in 2021.

Prep Sports Weekly for April 29, 2021 featured five local athletes and two coaches who are currently involved in Spring Sports.
Members of the undefeated Jackson Timberwolves baseball team: Zach Ediger (Everett CC), Ryan Contreras (Everett CC) and Evan Canfield (Edmonds CC) joined the show to talk about their season and where they are heading to college.
Mariner junior softball pitcher Alexis Slater and her Head Coach, Nathan Beachy, were our interview guests for segment two. Alexis struck out 21 batters in the Marauders 1-0 victory over Lynnwood last week and her 134 strikeouts on the season, currently rank 3rd in the state.
Our final segment featured Meadowdale senior soccer standout River Stewart and his Head Coach, Mike Nelson. River was the 2019 Everett Herald Boys Soccer Player of the Year as a sophomore after he scored 32 goals and added 10 assists, helping Meadowdale win the District Championship and clinching their first State Tournament berth since 2005.
Prep Sports Weekly for April 22, 2021 featured a handful of the top Class of 2021 Track & Field Athletes from Wesco.
We heard from Arlington High School Head Coach Judd Hunter and one of his top performers, Jaden Roskelley. Jaden currently has the best long jump in the state in 2021 and ranks 3rd in the 110 meter hurdles.
In segment #2, we spoke to the 2019 3A Girls Shot Put State Champion, Kiana Lino of Shorecrest. Kiana is having another outstanding season as a shot put and discus thrower and also plans to play basketball for the Scots next month, the team that she helped lead to the Tacoma Dome last year. Kiana will be attending Boston University in the Fall.
A couple of Snohomish Panthers girls Track stand outs also paid PSW a visit. Bree Nichols, who currently has the top triple jump amongst 3A girls in Washington state in 2021 along with the #2 long jump and #9 high jump and her teammate, Ellie Baxter. Ellie placed in the Top 15 in state in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter races back in 2019 and has also placed in the Top 15 in at a State Cross Country event.
The final segment featured two members of the Edmonds-Woodway Track team: Kaddy Kongira who had podium finishes in the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relay races at the 2019 Girls State Championships and Evan Graves who currently has the fastest time in the 300 meter hurdles among all runners in Washington state in 2021.
Prep Sports Weekly for Thursday April 15th paid tribute to longtime Everett Public Schools Director of Athletics, Robert Polk, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly last weekend.
Segment #1 featured Everett Public School Superintendent Dr. Ian Saltzman and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Peter Scott.
We then went from the EPS Administrators to EPS coaches as Jackson High School Boys Basketball Head Coach Steve Johnson and Everett High School/Evergreen Middle School Football/Wrestling/Track & Field Coach Brien Elliott joined us for Segment #2.
Two members of the Snohomish County Basketball Officials Association (SCBBO), Garrett Galbreath and Chris Soterakopoulis were featured in Segment #3 to talk about Polk's love of officiating. Polk was the current President of the Association at the time of his passing.
The final segment featured an interview with current Edmonds School District Athletic Director Julie Stroncek and former Marsyville School District Athletic Director Greg Erickson.
Prep Sports Weekly for April 8, 2021 features conversations about the Gonzaga Bulldogs run to the NCAA Championship game, the conclusion of the high school football season and the return of Spring Sports.
Segment #1 included a chat with Cameron Van Til of the Everett Herald who talked about his alma mater Gonzaga and the progression of Edmonds native/All American Corey Kispert. Cameron also talked the Wesco football season and his coverage of last week's Lake Stevens victory over Glacier Peak.
Segment #2 featured the hero from last week's Wesco football finale as Jackson kicker James Yoon shared his experience of kicking a game winning field goal against Everett to give the Timberwolves their first victory since 2018. James' brother Daniel also joined in on the conversation from Middletown, Connecticut where he is a freshman kicker for the football team at Wesleyan University.
Segment #3 was an interview with Mariner Boys Soccer Coach Henry Busch as he talked about the team's first soccer match in almost 23 months and who the key players are to watch for the Marauders this season
Prep Sports Weekly for April 1st and we aren't fooling around tonight as we featured five sets of interviews covering five different sports: Tennis, Volleyball, Soccer, Cross Country and Swimming.
Segment #1 included an interview with two Snohomish High School Tennis Head Coaches: Ben Doucette (Boys) and Joel Boyer (Girls).
In segment #2, we caught up with the Head Coach of the undefeated Mountlake Terrace Girls Volleyball team, Jean Kellogg. We then spoke with Shorewood Thunderbirds Girls Soccer Head Coach Dan Faires and discussed his team's 8-1 season as well as last year's Academic State Championship.
For segment #3, we headed up to Arlington for a conversation with 3 seniors from the AHS Eagles Boys Cross Country Team that finished 4th at the state last year: Quincy Fankhauser, Vincent Loftis and Isaiah Lowery. We finished the show at the pool with Lake Stevens High School junior Girls Swimmer Maddie Butler and Boys Swimming Head Coach Brady Dykgraaf.
A high school football coaches carousel of interviews tonight, featuring coaches from 4 different schools, all of which were victorious last Friday night.
During the opening segment, we heard from King's Knights Head Coach Jim Shapiro who talked about his team's 4-2 start to the season and their upcoming Emerald Sound Conference Championship game tomorrow night against Cedar Park Christian at Juanita High School.
The second segment featured an interview with Kamiak Knights Head Coach Bryant Thomas who shared insight into his team's outstanding turnaround and key contributors to their 3-0 record. We then spoke with Marysville Getchell Head Coach Davis Lura and discussed the Chargers first victory of the season, a 17-14 win over Cedarcrest on Friday night (the day before Lura's birthday).
Monroe first year Head Coach Scott Darrow appeared on the final segment and talked about the Bearcats 2-1 start to the season, winning his debut game at his alma mater, Arlington High School, and the team's 49-20 win over Mariner last Friday night.

Segment 1 featured the father/son combination of Kyle and Ethan Hoglund from Lake Stevens High School. Kyle is the Head Coach of the undefeated LSHS volleyball team that placed 2nd at state last year and Ethan is a senior tennis player who is the District 1 4A Defending Doubles Champion.
Segment 2 was our football coaches carousel that included phone interviews with Mark Leone of Archbishop Murphy and Keauntea Bankhead of Lynnwood.
Segment 3 featured our second father/son combination, Don and Gavin Dalziel. Don is the President of the Western Conference (Wesco) and the Athletic Director of the Shoreline School District. Gavin is a senior football player for the Shorecrest Scots and last week committed to play football for Linfield College where he will be a kicker.

Then it's our first Coaches Carousel of the season with the Head Coach of the Granite Falls Tigers Football Team Brandon Davis; his team defeated Sultan 22-20 in overtime in Friday night's Black & Blue Bowl. The Head Coach of the Jackson Timberwolves Volleyball Team Mindy Staudinger is next, her team defeated Edmonds Woodway 3-0 in their season opener on Tuesday night. Finally, our resident historian Larry O'Donnell is on with the story about the 1894 football game between Everett and Snohomish.

(He graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1935).

Speaking of college, next it's Murdock Rutledge, the starting quarterback for the University of Puget Sound Loggers and Everett High Seagulls alum. He played many games at Everett Memorial Stadium. Speaking of the stadium, we hear from our historian Larry O'Donnell, he talks about the opening of Everett Memorial Stadium and the first game ever played in 1947. It's an interesting story.

Last weekend, as a true freshman, he had the longest weight throw in 42 years at UW. (The Weight Throw is the indoor version of the Hammer Throw)

Aaron graduated last year from Marysville Pilchuck High School, where he led the Tomahawks to consecutive appearances in the state basketball tournament. Next it's Jordan Sieh, the Cascade High School Football Head Coach and an update on the upcoming (hopefully) high school football season from the perspective of the Bruins. Then a return visit from Everett historian Larry O'Donnell; we discuss the interesting life and career of Snohomish County Sports Hall of Famer Lee Orr, a Monroe High School graduate, a Washington State University Hall of Famer and competed in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.

Then we hear from a Stanwood High School freshman golfer who has already made a name for himself at the national level (including Augusta Nationals) Conrad Chisman. Finally, the head Coach of the Bainbridge High School Baseball Team, and a Jackson High School alum Geoff Brown. Bainbridge is considered to be the best team in the state of Washington, and are hoping to participate in the prestigious 2021 USA Baseball High School Invitational in Cary, North Carolina.

His players actually started working out at the school this week. We talk with Nasser Kyobe who is the Executive Producer for the Seahawks Radio Network; and for the purposes of PSW, a former Meadowdale High School football and basketball player. Then we head to the bullpen for a visit with Cascadia Preps' Ryland Spencer for a brief look at what high school football may look like statewide this year.

Then we meet the new Archbishop Murphy boys basketball head coach Riley Bettinger.

And finally, the brand new radio voice of the Idaho Vandals Football team, Chris King, who is a graduate of Marysville Pilchuck High School and is also the radio voice of the Tri City Dust Devils.

He's a Snohomish Alum, and tells us about his family's 37 states in 33 days summer vacation. Then it's the First Family of Cascade High School Sports Trish and Dave Roberts. Trish is the Cascade Cheer Coach and Dave is the Cascade Girls Basketball Coach. Then we visit with four members of the Lakewood Cougars Football team. Malik Dotson, Derek Robbins, Carson Chrisman and Keegan Bach.

Finally, it's two members of the Monroe High School Class of 2021 football players Trey Lane and Brenden Rodriguez. Both were 1st Team All-Wesco in 2019.

We start with Mark and Marlon Stewart; Mark is the head football coach at Mariner High School, his son Marlon is an assistant men's basketball coach for the Oregon State Beavers. Then, for the first time in the history of PSW we talk boxing with Mike Conley, the son of 2020 Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame Inductee Everett "Ev" Conley. Ev was an Everett native, and a Washington State University Athletic Hall-of-Famer in the sports of intercollegiate boxing. Finally, it's the heart and soul of the Marysville Pilchuck Tomahawks football team, head coach Brandon and his son, running back Dylan Carson.

We feature the 1972 Meadowdale Chiefs Football Team with Head Coach Ron Bates and Quarterback Mark Hobbs; their team is being inducted into the Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame this year. Then, our attention turns to Kamiak Volleyball with a couple of All-Wesco returning players Danica Pel and Marina Tukan. We conclude with former Archbishop Murphy, and current Washington State Cougars defensive lineman Abe Lucas.
Prep Sports Weekly, Thursday, October 29, 2020. We meet 2020 Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame Inductee Krista (Colburn) Monrean. A Kamiak grad who helped lead UCLA to the College Softball World Series Finals. Orlondo Steinauer, a Lynnwood High School graduate and a 2019 Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame Inductee. He is the Head Coach of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. And, Jackson HS Senior Cross Country runners Brenden Charbeneau and Jordan Hansen; they finished 1st and 2nd at the NW District Championships last fall and went on to compete at the State Cross Country meet.

Prep Sports Weekly, Thursday, October 15, 2020. We welcome two-time WNBA Champion Assistant Seattle Storm Coach Ryan Webb and his high school coach Nalin Sood from Mountlake Terrace. In segment two it's Duane Lewis and Stephanie Tastad of Lynnwood HS. Duane is a Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2020 inductee and Stephanie ran for him at Lynnwood; served as an Assistant with him and is now the Head Coach of the Royals Cross Country and Track teams. Finally, we welcome Maddie and Chloe and Ella Seelhoff of the Glacier Peak Grizzlies girl's soccer team. Maddie is a senior who is already committed to playing at Montana next year. Chloe is a junior who this past weekend committed to playing at Washington; Ella is a freshman at Glacier Peak.

Then we meet a pair of Snohomish High School Swimmers Anna Kowalchyk and Kendall Benson; finally a pair of Lake Stevens Vikings Football players, Quarterback Tanner Jellison and Wide Receiver Max Moenoa.

Kim Hammons, former coach of the Snohomish Panthers Baseball team and his son Nick Hammons, the current head coach of Snohomish Baseball. Kim is a 2020 inductee into the Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame. Next it's Milton Hopkins Jr. - Starting quarterback at O'Dea High School in Seattle, and he seems to have become the pied piper of high school football players in the area, organizing local 7-on-7 tournaments. And finally, Bill LeCompte, longtime girls' soccer coach at Edmonds Woodway, including a 2014 3A State Championship and a 3rd place state finish in 2015.
Prep Sports Weekly for Thursday, September 24, 2020. We begin with Everett Community College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Trautman and his former player Bobby Martin (Glacier Peak High School) who is now playing at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Bobby was also named the 2020 Snohomish County Collegiate Male Athlete of the Year. Then it’s the new Arlington High School Volleyball Coach Lauren Admundson. Coach Amundson graduated from Stanwood High School; played and coached volleyball at the collegiate level; but moves to the “other” side of the Stillaguamish River. She didn’t want the Stanwood job because her sister Megan is coach there. Finally, we talk about the WIAA LEAP Committee with Andy Knapp of WIAA and Austin Seals of MeadowdaleHigh School. Austin is a pole vaulter and high jumper for the Mavs and was recently one of eight students in Washington state from the Class of 2022 to be selected to the Committee. Austin is the first Snohomish County student in 5 years to serve on the committee.

We hear from The Everett Herald’s Woman of the Year in Sports, Raigan Reed, basketball player from Lake Stevens; plus her high school head coach Randall Edens. Coach Edens is also the Marysville Getchell Cross Country coach, so we hear from senior Charger runners Janae Parsons and Jasmine Nguyen. Then a tribute to long-time Mercer Island Boys Basketball Coach Ed Pepple who passed away earlier this week. Former Snohomish Coach Jim Adams; former Cascade Coach Charlie Cobb and current Everett High Boys Coach Bobby Thompson share their memories of Coach Pepple. Finally a visit with Glacier Peak Quarterback, but for this week, NASCAR Super Late Model driver Tyson Lang. He’s competing for the season championship this week at Evergreen Speedway.

Tom Lafferty and Steve Willits talk with Everett Public Schools Athletic Director Robert Polk about the latest news on the school sports front. We welcome our KRKO Russell & Hill Male Athlete of the Year for 2020 Matt King, swimmer from Glacier Peak High School. Matt joins us from the University of Alabama where he will swim for the Crimson Tide this year; by the way, his brother former Everett Silvertips Forward Bryan King joins us on the call and updates us on his travels and educational opportunities also in Tuscaloosa. We conclude with a tribute to Snohomish County Sports Hall of Famer, and former Edmonds Community College Men's Basketball Coach Keith Kingsbury (coach passed away last month) with former players and colleagues Randy Hansen, Mike Broom, Nalin Sood and Nate Duchesne.
