Cancel Culture Controversy: Sister Wives & BeyondThis episode dives into the concept of cancel culture and how it plays out in reality TV and beyond. We'll use the show Sister Wives as a springboard for a larger discussion about holding people accountable vs. stifling free speech.
Sister Wives DramaWe'll start by examining the Brown family and the controversies surrounding their polygamous lifestyle. We'll explore viewer opinions on:
- Polygamy itself
- Alleged favoritism by Kody towards his last wife Robyn
- Family tension caused by Kody's strict COVID rules
- Shifting focus of the show, from exploring polygamy to internal conflicts
Cancel Culture ConversationThen, we'll broaden the conversation to the phenomenon of cancel culture. Here are some questions we'll pose:
- Does cancel culture promote accountability or silence diverse voices?
- Are there situations where it's justified? If so, what are they?
- How does the severity of the offense and the reach of social media influence cancel culture?
- Should there be a chance for redemption after being cancelled?
- What role do we have in navigating these discussions online?

With 27,487 homeless people, Florida has the third-largest number of homeless people in the United States. 12,672 didn't have a place to stay, and 14,815 did.
In January 2020, there were 580,466 homeless people living on the streets or in shelters in the United States.
Most of them (70%) were single people, and the rest were families with children. They lived in every state and territory, and they come from every race, culture, and gender. But some groups are much more likely to become homeless than others.
Matthew's Hope helps homeless men, women, and children in our community feel better physically, emotionally, and spiritually by taking care of their basic needs, teaching them new skills, and giving them back their dignity and independence.

We love you guys - here is a touch of what is going on.
My daddy has been in the hospital off and on since 7/6-he had a prostate biopsy. He has been bleeding ever since -with multiple failed attempts at fixing it. They have placed clips twice- and then also consulted surgery who placed three sutures as well -the artery is what continues to bleed. They sent him home twice and he had bled at home and had to call ambulance -both times. He's had 20 units of blood as of this am -since 7/7 and they have talked about transferring him to Knoxville to a specialist that can do the need procedure. They state no one is capable in their region. He does have prostate cancer and they suspect some sort of leukemia or myelodysplastic disorder, but they did a bone marrow biopsy over three weeks ago - with no results. He also sat in the ER at Holston Valley Medical Center after being brought in by ambulance with an active bleed. They put him in wheelchair and rolled him to the waiting room. With an active bleed. Sitting in a waiting room. Bleeding. My mom is a mess and won't leave his side - hasn't slept or hardly eaten since this started......she told me yesterday she is afraid they are just going to let him lay there in ICU and bleed to death ( they are saying Knoxville has no beds). It has been a nightmare. Both Jeff and I appreciate your patience while we navigate this time.

Guilty as Charged. Where does the healthy guilt stop and the unhealthy guilt start? What do you have to do to get there?
Guilt. Guilt is an emotion where we feel that we've made a mistake. IT is defined as feeling of having committed some wrong or failed in an obligation. Shame, is an emotion where the feeling is that WE are the mistake.

August 12, 2021: Disorderly conduct stop
A 911 call is placed by someone who reports seeing a confrontation between Gabby and Brian. The caller said he saw Laundrie hit Petito. Police in Moab, Utah, are dispatched and pull the van over. It is unclear if they knew the details of the 911 call. Police bodycam video shows Petito crying and upset. The police report says that Petito hit Laundrie, but no arrests were made. The couple is separated for the night - Laundrie checks into a hotel and Petito stays in the van.

And then there's the case of 24-year-old geologist Daniel Robinson who went missing on June 23. He was last seen in Arizona. His case is just now gaining media attention.
On Thursday, Buckeye Police released its report about the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of geologist Daniel Robinson.
The 24-year-old went missing from a job site in a remote part of Buckeye on the morning of June 23. The report revealed what police learned in the days before and after his disappearance.
According to the report, family, friends and co-workers said that Robinson had been acting strangely in the days before he'd gone missing.
Robinson was last seen by a co-worker who said he arrived at the site and was "saying things that did not make sense" and suddenly left after about 15 minutes.
But in the days prior, the report said he was also behaving oddly with a woman he'd met while working a side job for a food delivery service.
