In this episode, I'll break down the basics of Ordinals, Runes, BRC-20, Inscriptions, and RuneStone
Let’s meet the people behind the new Bitcoin ecosystem.
Casey Rodarmor, Creator, Artist, Developer, and founder of Ordinals and Runes protocol. Domo, the developer who developed the BRC-20 token standard. Leonidas, builder, host, influencer. Leo Caillard, artist, sculptor, and creator of Runestone.
Comparisons with Ordinals and Runes
Ordinals launched on Bitcoin mainnet by developer Casey Rodarmor on January 20, 2023
Ordinals protocol allows for data written directly to each Satoshi, according to the definition on Chainlink, Ordinals are means of creating Bitcoin NFTs by attaching data such as images, videos, and more to an individual Satoshi on the base Bitcoin blockchain.
Runes Protocol launched on April 2024. Both the Ordinals protocol and Runes protocol are developed by Casey Rodarmor. Runes were built for degens and memecoins, but the protocol is simple, efficient, and secure. It is a legitimate competitor to Taproot Assets and RGB. The protocol is self-contained and has no dependencies on ordinals or inscriptions, making it extremely simple. ( Casey Rodarmor )
Runes is a new protocol for fungible tokens on Bitcoin after Ordinals. Think of Runes like US dollars. They're based on UTXO (Unspent transaction outputs), which are akin to pouches in which you can store one or more tokens, much like a kangaroo's pouch or a wallet. Runes protocol is lighting compatible, which means it accelerates the transaction.
Inscriptions, on the other hand, are NFTs ( Non-Fungible Tokens like digital art, trading cards, and collectibles ). Casey Rodarmor describes “Inscriptions” are like diamonds, each diamond with unique characteristics such as color, size, clarity, and cut.
While BRC-20 tokens use the foundational technology behind Bitcoin Ordinals, they're not quite the same thing. Technically speaking, BRC-20 tokens are Ordinals because they're created by inscribing data to individual Satoshi, ( the smallest amount of Bitcoin )
BRC 20 tokens standard was launched by anonymous developer Domo on March 9, 2023. BRC-20 tokens embed JSON data into ordinal inscriptions to enable users to deploy, mint, and transfer tokens.
The first BRC-20 tokens created contained the following JSON data defining the token’s name, a limit of 1,000 tokens per mint, and a maximum number of 21 million tokens:
Leonidas is the builder, marketer, and influencer of Runestone NFTs. On February 20, Leonidas airdropped Runestone NFTs to reward the year one Ordinals community. 112,383 addresses that held 3 non-text inscriptions in their wallet will receive a Runestone, plus a Rune meme token to the Runestone holders, however, the Rune meme tokens have no partnership or add-on value yet, according to the X announcement from The Ordinal.
Leonidas collaborated with the artist, and sculptor, Leo Caillard.
Leo Caillard is the top 20 contemporary artists worldwide according to ArtPrice. His exhibitions at prestigious art shows like Art Basel and Frieze.
Leo Caillard gifted the Runestone creative license to the Ordinals community and released it under the CC0 license, enabling other creators to utilize it freely as a public domain asset to foster and enrich the Ordinals community.

I'm concerned about Titok, mostly the brain-washed algorithms that push the content repeatedly. When inappropriate challenges and bullies over Titok, teens have anxiety with looks and peer pressure. Shou Chow's defense for Titok is that freedom of speech should be allowed in the US, yet, certain content against the Chinese government is disappearing from the app.

According to recent data from the Department of Labor, 61% of social scientists and 46% of Math occupations are women.
Nevertheless, the fast-increased job opportunities for women are nurses, preschool teachers, and maids. Women are good in Math and science there are not enough opportunities for them.
Artists and content creators are not in any category. Last year, I had a great online panel with other female artists. Women were highly active in STEM since the 18th Century. I learned from established artists. There were many exceptional women in the STEM field.
From the past to present, based on recent data and predictions from the Department of Labor, women’s high-demand occupations are nurses, preschool teachers, and home care workers.
During the early 1990 Great Recession, women in tech had a significant change, more women got jobs in the computer engineering field after 1992. Women recovered the economy during the Great Recession.

Before the Renaissance, people never see the other side of the world, the church controls the the economy. In Renaissance, Artists and scientists accelerated art and technology. Black Death was a pandemic that changed human history.
We have a similar situation. In Web 3, we see the revolution of science, art, blockchain, Defi, and architecture. When I want to find a new idea to create art, I find the Renaissance public domain images from the Metropolitan Museum of Arts. I reinvented the old image and coined the Trance Utopia series.

Prior to founding Spatial, Jinha created technologies to physically interact with digital data for the past decade: SpaceTop was a pioneering Augmented Reality desktop that allowed people to reach inside the screen. He also created a physical pixel, ZeroN, that levitates and moves freely as his master thesis project at MIT. At Samsung, he led the redesign of Smart TVs, turning screens into a collaboration platform and artistic data visualization. As an advocate for inclusive design, he co-designed Bradley Timepiece, an award-winning tactile wristwatch for the blind. These projects became viral and brought him to the TED stage in 2013.

Techspressionism 2021 is a survey exhibition spanning a diverse field of artists from 26 nations around the world utilizing technology as a means of personal expression. The initial online call for entry received over 1200 artwork submissions.
When approached as a social sculpture, Techspressionism allows for societal change to be made, allowing participants in the movement to actively work towards a more inclusive future for contemporary art.
This exhibition aims to present innovative work in a broad range of styles, reflecting the expressive potential of electronic media, as well as focusing on curatorial inclusivity in terms of gender equality, an international focus, and sociocultural diversity. The show’s selections range from notable digital art pioneers and established contemporary artists to emerging artists gaining visibility online within the NFT space, social media and the Techspressionist online community.

In this episode, we have a conversation, Jeanna shares her technic and story.
I went to the Armory Show and found this interesting exhibition from the Microscope gallery. The following week, I went to the gallery in Chelsea and I scheduled an interview with the artist, Jeanne Liotta.
Jeanne is an art professor and this most recent show, "The World is a picture of the world" used public material from NASA, she made the slides from old NASA images that captured from space and collaged with color gel ( transparent film sheet ) She spent time to let the works exposed under the sun and created a new world that like a new universe inside her artist's view.

There seems to always be so much duress in the world. To cope, heal, and respond artists often seek to create romantic notions of reality – fantasies and wishes of utopia. The ability for artists to speak to others across physical and virtual space encourages new opportunities for dynamic and meaningful collaborations and explorations. The artwork presented in this exhibition serendipitously comes together as a series of idealized realities. Our Techspressionist artists harness mixed media and digital art to address concerns of ecology and conservation; others have developed rich-photographic compilations considering re-envisioned worlds; and some explore the coexistence of the digital and natural worlds. We are presenting work that questions social, political, and cultural norms through international, collaborative, and hopeful eyes. Malavika Mandal Andrew Mumbai, India Malavika Mandal Andrew is an artist from Mumbai, India whose practice includes mixed media, digital collage and digital art, tapestry and other fibre art. She received her Bachelors of Fine Art in Textile Designing in 1993 and her Masters of Fine Art in Textile and Tapestry in 1995 from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan . During her time at Kala Bhavana she was awarded the National Scholarship by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development and did her training under Riten Mozumdar. In 2012 the artist was awarded “The Pollock Krasner Foundation” grant under which she worked with Warli artists from Talasari, Maharashtra to create mix media paintings. In 2021, Malavika became the first Indian artist to be listed in the Techspressionist Visual Artist Index. She has participated in numerous solo & group, national & international shows. Verneda Lights Port Royal, South Carolina USA website instagram Born into the Gullahgeechee Nation of the South Carolina Low Country (USA), Verneda Lights is a visual artist/ photographer who is well known for her many Afro-surreal and Afro-futuristic works. Her artworks span from traditional (paintings and drawings on canvas and paper), to digital. As an historian, physician, poet, and science writer, Verneda draws upon the history and sub/conscious imagery of the African diaspora. She creates from the belief that science informs art and art shapes science. In 2017, photo-collages from her “Gullah Me” collection were on display at the 2017 Whitney Biennial, (as part of Occupy Museums’ group exhibit), Woman Made Gallery (Chicago, IL), and City Gallery (Charleston, SC). Highlights of 2018 included exhibits at the Hilton Head Town Hall, City Gallery (Charleston, SC), and Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art (St. Joseph, Missouri). In 2019, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate commissioned her to create an art chair to honor activist Raffi Freedman-Gurspan. Her chair remains at the Kennedy Institute. From March to April, 2021, her work will be exhibited in “Represent: New Portraiture,” at the Barrett Art Center in -Poughkeepsie, NY.

Artbit feat. Techspressionist: Colin Goldberg interviewed by Roz Dimon
Colin Goldberg’s artwork explores the intersection of technology and Expressionism. The artist coined the term Techspressionism as the title of a 2011 solo exhibition in Southampton. Techspressionism was first described as a movement in WIRED in 2014, and it has since grown into an international community of artists working with technology from over 30 nations around the world. Goldberg lives and works on the North Shore of Long Island and is a recipient of grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the New York State Council on the Arts. His paintings reside in the permanent collections of the Islip Art Museum, Stony Brook Medicine, and the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center. In this episode, NYC-based photographer and CUNY Assistant professor Tommy Mintz shares his algorithmically crafted images.
The Automated Digital Photo Collage (ADPC) is an algorithm for creating artwork.
ADPC runs on a Raspberry Pi computer or Mac and a variety of cameras and screens or projectors. The software is a Python program, and it is freely available on github.
June 17, 2021 - Tommy Mintz grew up in NYC's West Village in the 1980s and 90s. Tommy now lives in Chelsea with his wife, kids and cats and is currently an Assistant Professor of Photography at CUNY Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn. He earned an MFA from Queens College in 2005 and a BA from Sarah Lawrence College in 1999. He has exhibited in galleries locally, nationally and internationally. Mintz is an urbanist of the Jane Jacobs school of thought. Through his work, he seeks to engage in a conversation about how Jacobs’ ideas, of what makes a vibrant urban landscape, are important to consider in this moment of large-scale neighborhood change, currently most visible in massive construction projects and new sidewalk dining spaces. One of the unique aspects of Mintz’s photographic work revolves around his creation, known as The Automated Digital Photo Collage. The ADPC is an algorithm for creating a time-lapse collage. It compares a sequence of photographs, pixel by pixel, for areas of change. Pixel areas that are detected as different are layered on top in the image. Layering areas of its own choosing, the ADPC creates a decidedly nonhuman view, which intrigues with its logic and strange algorithmic humor. The ADPC echoes our human struggle to remember during this moment in the inception of digital augmentation. The familiar gaps parallel our own fragmented perceptions. Conceptualized in 2004, as a public installation in a bus shelter, the ADPC is written in the Python programming language and was first exhibited at the Hudson Guild gallery in 2013 where it ran on Raspberry Pi computers and standard webcams, generating low resolution, live, interactive collages of gallery visitors.

My name is Giovanna. I am the producer of Artbit. In this episode, our Techspressionist salon virtual meeting, we have a conversation bi-weekly.
Techspressionism is introduced as a new art-historical term to describe fine artists using digital technology to convey subjective, emotional content.
A core group of artists have begun working together to develop momentum for the adoption of the term Techspressionism through the planning of an international juried exhibition to be followed by a physical exhibition in 2022. We meet biweekly at our Techspressionist Salon artist meetups on Zoom to discuss art and technology.
Andrea Bonaceto shares his AI experience with Sophie robot and showcases his gallery on Niftygateway. Andrea just closed the auction at 79000. He also answered questions about how an artist can collaborate with artificial intelligence.
