Good news this week, my back is finally starting to fix itself so the latter part of this week has been reasonably more comfortable. Even better my car finally returned after 8 weeks in repairs, the mighty Rav 4 now looks factory fresh and it was so nice to be driving a car that smoothly accelerates and decelerates with no fuss or drama.
The working week has been quite mixed with a hectic start, and then slow down as the week progressed and the weather got super hot. Roasting coffee is a hot business at the best of times, but when the outside temperatures rise it can get pretty melty inside when you are running the roasters all day. With the Piece Hall in full concert mode at the moment the stores are on limited opening because of afternoon prep time for the evening concerts, it’s also much harder to actually get into the place to deliver coffee.
After the Hive UK Meetup which went really well, I have started to get prepared for the next Hard Fork - the api nodes are getting a big change especially and I will have to look at server upgrades to accommodate it. I have also instigated an auto failover script so should my main Witness server misses a block the script will then auto change to my second one - and then to the third if the second also fails. At my current ranking of 47 blocks are produced every hour, and if my primary witness failed for whatever reason I could miss a whole load of blocks before realising.

Another busy week, I managed to rest my back at the weekend but it’s being persistent in giving me pain not helped by work generally requiring me to bend and lift things.
Both roasters have been busy again, the 30kg has had a large amount to do this week with many bulk orders coming in.
The Hive Blockchain event went well with 15 in attendance and they enjoyed the coffee just as much as meeting up to discuss the blockchain.

So the main news this week is I pulled my back Thursday morning, leaving me shuffling around trying to avoid the stabbing pain any sort of movement invokes - which isn’t really ideal for someone who bends and lifts all day.
The Queen’s Jubilee 4 day break was welcome, although the promised hot weather never materialised - in fact the Sunday was monsoon rain! Heading back to work Monday there was a massive backlog of orders process making this week especially busy - both roasters running to clear new orders - especially as by the end of Monday we had cleared out nearly all the shelf stock we had.
The Hive Blockchain event on the 18th June is already building up interest, with at 15 people attending and more potentially. I’m now a little worried my back will not have recovered by then, which won’t affect anything really other then I will end up doing little more guiding people in.

So it’s been the last push before the 4 day Queens Platinum Jubilee double Bank Holiday, seeing most places shut on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd of June, for us it’s a 4 day holiday because we close for the weekend. As expected there has been a mad dash for the three days of the week as people realise they have to order quick to get stock delivered before the shutdown - also as expected the start to next week is going to be crazy as people restock.
The weather has been ok but not the heatwave previously claimed, although still pretty average and the rain mostly held off so I’m sure the break will have had plenty of people out and about enjoying coffee.

The weather has definitely taken a backward step, cool last weekend and rain for a good chunk of this week. Poor weather made it a particularly lazy weekend, fingers crossed it will pick up over the next few weeks.
Back to the daily grind on Monday though, and it’s been a crazy busy week as the ramp up to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee continues, both roasters have been flat out to keep up with orders an people start stocking up for the 4 day long weekend next week.
With just three work days next week, it’s going to be a head down flat out charge to get everything shipped before the shut down, and I already know some will forget to order before the Tuesday FedEx collection - after 2pm Tuesday the next delivery will be Monday 6th June.

Well last weekend was great, the Saturday amazingly hot and sunny so I spent most of the day turning lobster colour in the garden. With my car repair supposedly done, and the lone car returned - it was a surprise Monday to find out the repair had been set back to the 31st May! Quick call to the insurance revealed the repair centre got stuck at the final job - the new bumper - as the one they had been sent did not fit my model! So they had to re-order a replacement which is on back order with Toyota. So the insurance had to rearrange a loan car to fill in the new two weeks - which turned up Wednesday and actually is quite nice - Seat Taracca in top spec.
Meanwhile work has been flat out as you might expect, both roasters putting in the work hours to keep the coffee moving, and more new stocks of green coffee in - we do have a massive stockpile of green coffee to draw from now - and it’s needed because the coffee is moving very quickly at the moment.
More hot weather towards the middle of the week - but the weekend has been a let down so far. Bring back the heat!

So a mostly relaxing weekend last week, aside for refitting the the heat sink on my boys gaming pc with new thermal paste - cpu kept overheating on heavy gaming I could not figure it out - in the end decided I got knock of thermal paste from e-bay, got a new tube of Arctic Silver M5 paste of Amazon with thousands of great reviews and the results were miraculous - now hovers around sixty degrees under load compared to shutting off at one hundred degrees.
Back to work and it’s still picking up, crazy busy coffee roasting week again with loads on and both roasters running flat out to keep up. Loads of local drop offs again to keep me extra busy and with the weather picking up towards the weekend it looks like a hot and sunny weekend - maybe not great for coffee for superb for relaxing!

So after they May Day Bank Holiday weekend, which I mostly spent avoiding driving the hateful Kia Sportage on loan while my Rav 4 awaits the body panels needed to put it back like new after someone drove into the side it - Tuesday was as you might expect crazy hectic with three days of orders built up it was all go to roast and pack the coffee needed to complete, with both roasters running most of the day.
Demand continued throughout the week, with big local orders culminating in Friday with a run round local stores dropping off in total 120kg or roasted coffee - the milder weather is really starting to pick business up.
But the continued workload is not without struggles, it’s full on pressure every day and despite having two new staff on board in the last month while they learn it’s going to take some time to realise the full potential of them.
With another 4 day holiday weekend for the Queens Jubilee at the end of the month it’s going to be a long slog over the next few weeks.

After the mysterious calm of the post Easter week, back to work with a bang and a super busy week as it seemed like everyone woke up from the post Easter slumber and started ordering in bulk. So it’s been an incredibly busy week, even after working last weekend in preparation to get a load of coffee roasted and get an early start on shipping orders.
With it being the last week of the financial year for the business, and stock take looming I really needed a smooth week with no unexpected problems. So having someone drive out of side road into the side of my car on the way to work Tuesday morning was definitely not what I wanted, and with the damage making it undrivable all I could do is limp it into a reasonable parked position, exchange details with the other driver and then grab an Uber to just make it to work in time to open up for staff.
So that just added a load more hassle to an already busy week, but as usual I managed to get through it - and at least Monday is a Bank Holiday!

So the week after the Easter Break, after a relaxing long weekend in Blackpool it was straight back to work on Tuesday with the expected backlog of orders built up over the 4 days off.
Despite building up stocks of roasted coffee the week before, during this short week both roasters have been kept busy to keep up stocks and fulfil new orders as they have come in - with such a diverse range and always trying to roast fresh instead of keeping massive stocks pre-roasted for a long time before shipping - it is hectic when there is a heavy load of orders to ship but we know @whiterosecoffee customers are happy to sometimes wait a little for a fresh product.

After another mild weekend back to work with a short week thanks to the Easter Bank Holiday weekend meaning Friday and Monday we are closed. It’s been busy but not as much as I expected - this could be due to people stocking up the week before although we did have a flurry of orders on the Wednesday trying to catch the last FedEx shipment.
Demand for roasted coffee remains strong and has kept both roasters running, and we have had to keep the local stores well stocked ahead of the busy trading period.
The long weekend will be a nice break, but will make the Tuesday extremely busy as we try and clear the built up orders that have come in through the Easter Weekend, and new orders will also no doubt be coming in during the day.
So it really is all go at the moment, busy busy.

After the incredibly mild weather, it’s returned to being decidedly chilly - with some very frosty mornings even. Last weekend was quite relaxing - took my boy and his friend to Jumparoos on Saturday and just had a sorting things out day on Sunday - along with a trip out to a Toby Carvery for Sunday Lunch.
Back to work on Monday and it’s being the usual manic week, the 30kg roaster particularly has been running every day to keep up with bulk orders from across the board - while also building up a stock buffer for the Easter weekend incoming.
All change as well with staff with new in and one out, continued demands of the business mean it’s becoming harder every day to keep up and the new few months will require more new staff adding to cover work and ensure it doesn’t get too crazy when existing staff have to be off for whatever reason.
Exciting new for Hive Blockchain, after a chat with @shanibeer I will be hosting a Hive Blockchain UK Northern Meetup on Saturday 18th June - the last event in 2020 went really well so I am sure it is going to be an informative day for anyone that attends this year.

After a baking hot weekend last week, the weather brought back the winter chill with snow on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile at work we have been ploughing through the coffee orders with another hectic week seeing both roasters running daily to keep up with demand, and building up stocks in preparation of a busy Easter. With two new shipments of green coffee coming in, there has been plenty to keep us busy along with the usual local delivery runs to keep all our customers stocked up with caffeine.

You could almost think it is summer already, this week has seen many hot sunny days with temperatures into the double digits it’s been quiet a delight. While last weekend was relatively relaxing it has been back to the grind this week with flat out work - both roasters have been seeing some heavy action.
Warm weather of course brings more people out and about, so all our local outlets have been super busy and needed multiple top up trips during the week, plus some big orders from further afield so between roasting and delivering there has not been time for very much else.

Loving the sunnier days and all the spring flowers popping up, but it’s still icy cold on the mornings - April is due to bring some really warm days for us though.
After an all together relaxing weekend last week, back to work and it has been as busy as ever. The big roasted coffee orders keep rolling in, keeping both roasters busy during the week days. Hermes orders - or EVRI as they have mysteriously rebranded to keep me busy on the way home too, we have a nightly mass of parcels to put through the system as part of our domestic customer deliveries - between them and FedEx wholesale a whole load of product has shipped out this week.
Hive blockchain is doing well, with the value of Hive holding steady around 70 pence, and my Witness got a boost to position 48 thanks to a new vote from a big stakeholder. A surprisingly sunny weekend last week, although cold still. Took the boy and his friends to Aerobounce on the Saturday and then a relatively steady Sunday.
Back to work and of course it’s still crazy busy, both roasters have been running all week to keep up with bulk orders, both for local customers and those we ship to by carrier.
The Fazenda Do Lobo coffee is now listed, and another new pallet of coffee came in on Thursday, with another due next Monday. At 600kg a time we are moving a considerable amount of both green and roasted coffee at the moment.
For a bit of down time I have been playing Guardians of the Galaxy game - it’s very entertaining especially the banter between the characters - but quite challenging leaving me stuck at some of the bosses.

More wild weather in the UK, with heavy snow last Saturday followed by flooding on Sunday! The wind and storms have finally calmed down a little, ending the week on a clear but cold footing.
Busy at work again as we keep on roasting coffee on a daily basis to keep up with demand, it was also extra busy because with a member of staff down all their work needed covered - so flat out every day just trying to keep up.
A 600kg pallet of green coffee arrived on Friday from Fazenda do Lobo which I visited in 2019, it has taken a while to get hold of this lot of coffee and it will be listed on the website soon.

Another turbulent week, last weekend was quite relaxed again with a little bit of shopping and building a new display cabinet for the boys room with led illuminated glass panels.
Work has been very busy though, now the majority of Covid restrictions have been lifted it seems outlets are getting busier again, and of course the mail order coffee sales keep rising - the Hermes locker nightly run is taking longer and longer with a good boot load every day.
Both roasters have been busy this week keeping up with demand, and we managed to ride out both storms that his the UK this week Dudley on Wednesday and Eunice on Friday - Eunice was particularly fierce in some Southern areas of the UK felling trees, taking roofs off buildings even blowing lorries over. We were lucky to escape with just strong winds and no apparent building damage.
After the wind we got snow on Saturday, surprisingly big flakes it was like someone was spraying foam from above. We had been out to purchase some guinea pigs for my boys birthday, and made it back home before the worst of the snow settled.

The windy weather has been persisting, although quite mild with it. But towards the end of this week the cold rolled in, with minus two degrees this Friday morning - ice on the outside windscreen and white frost on the inside of it - that’s a first!
One thing I have noticed in the cold weather, the fuel economy of the hybrid Rav 4 has taken a nose dive - because hybrids have relatively small battery packs when heat is needed quickly every morning - to clear the windscreen or just warm me up - it runs the engine most of the time from start up - the net result is by the time I reach the downhill coast from Queensbury to Halifax the battery is already full from the running engine - so I loose the downhill regeneration bonus. That said I’m still averaging better fuel economy then the Diesel Kadger while using cheaper petrol.
Back to work and it’s been another hectic busy week, with orders streaming in it’s been flat out roasting and shipping - I even filled the 40+ InPost locker on Monday night - with three parcels still left. And local deliveries are back to every day at the moment, which will only increase as the weather gets milder.
Some good news though, the office window finally has a new pane of glass in it - some 12 weeks plus after it was put through by some young thief. The boards are still on the outside though, no point removing them until after the weekend - then solid wire mesh is being fitted over both sides - to discourage anyone else trying to break in. The wire on the outside might not stop someone breaking the glass, but it will stop them getting through the space it vacates.

After a wild and windy weekend of hibernating it’s been back to work with another hectic week.
With the Piece Hall back open for business it’s been a week of daily local deliveries as all the outlets restocked, and with many bulk orders to fulfil both roasters have again been active again keeping up with demand.
New for Valentines Day there is a valentines blend with personalised name labels so coffee lovers can get some coffee love.
In between keeping stock moving, I have started the next phase of improving work with the office doors that have desperately needed a fresh coat of gloss for some time, the demo room still needs fresh paint and so do the offices themselves - it’s going to be slow steady job to work through them all.
All in very busy, not much time to do anything else this week but work. The new bargain NAS is running smoothly, next step is some automated back ups for the most critical data so there is always multiple copies just in case.

A well deserved lazy weekend last week, doing a few little jobs around the house and mostly just relaxing and recharging after the hectic run up to Christmas.
Back to work and it’s been a steady week again, always lots to do but also getting time to catch up on the paperwork and order fresh stocks of green coffee to roast. With both roasters now running smoothly it’s a daily roast schedule to keep stocks up and complete new incoming orders, I did finally manage to change the emboss plates for the bag sealer so it now reads white rose coffee 2022 - and while I had it apart replaced both the thermal transfer belts which get worn over time.
Local deliveries are also a daily run round, it’s been really interesting seeing the Piece Hall transformed ready for filming of a tv show next week - in fact Halifax has had three different shows being filmed during the last week - so trying to get anywhere has been difficult with large production lorries all over the place and hordes of crew blocking off different side rodes
Finally no words this week as Mr Nellis Grandad passed away, I think I was maybe supposed to read his messages remembering his Grandad - but they seemed a bit personal for a video. Anyway sorry for your loss Mr Nellis.

A slightly steadier week after the hectic first week back, giving a little free time to sort out the finer details, including hooking up Artisan profiling software to the 5kg roaster so we can now profile every coffee helping to ensure we match every roast over and over.
The big 30kg received it’s new during addition - a downward Y section to help relieve some of the back pressure when the cooling fans are on - it improved considerably the amount of smoke pushed back which would find any joint in the pipework it could to leave from.
There has been a lot of roasting to do as well, with some big orders in for bulk volume to roast and pack - so there has still been a continuous run of roasting going on - and new stocks of green coffee arriving too.
The weather has remained fairly dry, a little on the chilly side with the odd frost but a good break from the rain. Out of work I managed to enter my first ever Splinterlands Brawl - not with much success 3 wins and 6 losses - I think I will be leaving it to the experts.

The first week of 2022 has been dispatched, and as you might expect it has been a busy one - with orders stacked up between Christmas and New Year plus new additions as soon as we were back - it’s been a roastaphon with both the 30kg and newly hooked up 5kg running every day to keep up with demand.
It has not been the smoothest start though, while I was doing some pre starting back prep on Bank Holiday Monday the Police called to say someone had reported smashed windows at my premises - which surprised me as I was there and had no noticed on the way in! Sure enough, the fire exit small windows had been smashed - although just the outer pane of the double glazing. Not so much a break in as breaking stuff for the sake of it, fortunately as I always have plenty of stout boarding around it did not take long to cut two pieces into size to cover the broken panes and then screw them into place - the single left over pane would not last long with another attack and I did not people to keep reporting the damage by leaving the broken panes on display.
It’s nice to have that week off between Christmas and New Year, but it always makes a hectic start to the new year. And we had snow Thursday night too, making tricky conditions first thing Friday.

Happy New Year - here it is what has turned into the first vlog of 2022 for various reasons, and I am starting the year how I expect it will continue - at work roasting coffee!
So Christmas came and went in it’s usual blur, it seems like no time since it was the 23rd December and we were shutting up for a week and 2 days break - it’s amazing how quickly the days just disappear - you think you have so much time and in a blink of an eye it’s gone and time for working again. Of course I was never far from work all week, orders have kept rolling in and @whiterosecoffee subscriptions have had to ship out this week still, along with orders from other channels. Pennine Tea and Coffee orders have been stacked all week ready to process and ship on the 4th with FedEx - it all seems to have progressed quite smoothly.
The new 5kg is in place, but thanks to all gas fitters being off work between Christmas and New Year the gas is still to be connected - hence needing to get some roasting done to start next week with - we had stocks built up pre-Christmas but they have moved quick and it was time for a top up.
The 30kg roaster needed work itself though, the external ducting fan that was sucking the smoke out to help because the length of my ducting is too long for the roaster fan alone, finally seized up just before Christmas - and once that fan stops it becomes just a blockage in the pipe making the problem worse. I have been waiting for a dry day to get out and remove it - which turned out to be today - once I had it removed for cleaning and built back the ducting it’s been back to roasting so new stock is ready for next week.
Who knows what 2022 will bring to challenge us, but for sure it’s going to be another long hard working year for me.

So here it is, the last vlog before Christmas - although it will be uploaded after just to be confusing. Last weekend was relatively quiet, I had to meet someone at work to collect stock early, then a few local drops before heading home. Plans for Christmas shopping turned online as the cold foggy weather was not encouraging anyone to go out, neither was the constant battle with Covid making it any more desirable.
Work on Monday was incredibly busy as people realised it was there last few days to order pre-Christmas, it slowed down for the rest of the week though. Coffee stocks are well run down but we will back at it in January for the start of a New Year.
Wednesday I took a bit of time off so we could visit relatives pre-Christmas - the fear of another lockdown being quite strong. There was a distinct lack of commercial customers stocking up for the period between Christmas and New Year - understandable caution caused by an already much reduced footfall.
And Thursday became the last day of the year of the Business, I normally go in Christmas Eve but with the carrier not collecting there was not much point really so I had a much needed rest day..
Christmas Day was it’s usual busy self by the time presents had been opened, we went and cooked a big dinner for family, then headed home to sort out some of the gadget presents - and the day was done in a flash.
Now all I have to do is work out when I am going into to work to finish off the jobs I want to get done.

The weather has improved considerably, with relatively dry and quite mild conditions for the last week. And as the march of Covid continues the new Omicron variant is spreading fast throughout the UK. While still not in an actual lockdown, the introduction of new measures to reduce transmission including working from home if possible has lead to a general decline in hospitality trade.
So commercial orders took a slow down this year right when they would be going very busy, but on the positive retail orders have been up considerably with White Rose Coffee Roasters having one of their busiest weeks for orders. So it’s still been a flat out roasting week, and shipping all these parcels has been quite a challenge too.
Other news I managed to get the booster covid vaccine Thursday, and mostly have not suffered too much from it but a sore arm. It now just remains to see how long the UK can stay out of a full lockdown, with covid cases rising alarmingly it looks inevitable the further restrictions will be brought in soon.

We might be done with snow for now, but it’s still been freezing cold all week. And exceptionally busy again, with both roasters running most of Monday and Tuesday to keep up with demand - in fact we did not ever catch up this week the orders kept stacking up and all we could do was try to keep up with.
Multiple delivery runs to all stores this week, plus Manchester Arndale and a separate run to Huddersfield to two cafes. And as we approach the last two weeks before Christmas it looks like this hectic demand will keep up until then.

After an unusually snow week in the UK we come out the overside still feeling the chill, Storm Arwen did cause widespread damage in the UK but we were lucky to avoid the worst of the gales.
Monday proved exceptionally busy with a massive influx of orders over the weekend, followed by a tricky Tuesday due to multiple issues with a customers espresso machine which I ended up swapping out for another one I had spare - all not needed with all the other work on. And an evening trip out to Flockton to drop 400kg of chocolate sauce for the Manchester Christmas Markets.
So Wednesday was just catch up and a load of roasting on the big roaster to replace stock, coffee is just flying out at the moment so it’s a daily task keeping stocks built up.
Thursday and the 40 sacks of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe arrived - at 60kg a sack the four pallets were not the easiest to drag into work. Another full load to Flockton for the Manchester Christmas markets - they thought they would do less then 2019 but have totally smashed through more stock already then they did then - they could possibly double the total stock use.
Friday was just catching up with the tail end of orders, dealing with delayed deliveries - thanks to the snow over the Black Friday weekend and the increased orders it caused all the carriers are maxed out and behind - so it’s been a daily chore answering customers questions about delays to their orders arriving. It’s frustrating when we ship promptly but the carriers are slow in delivering - but the massive volume of packages they have from Black Friday but difficult to access snow covered back roads mean you can understand some things take longer to arrive.
No rest for the weekend, as I put my removals hat on - sadly the weather is the worst for this type of thing so it’s turning into an epic trial.

Brrr it’s been freezing this week, and the snow finally arrived (Saturday 27th) so winter is fully upon us. With the snow storm Arwen blew in with causing widespread UK damage to buildings and fallen trees with 96mph winds. While we avoided the worst damage locally the winds whipped up big snow drifts and the roads have been treacherous - thankfully Toyota know how to make a super traction control system so the Rav 4 has been out on slippy snow covered roads without an issue, tackling snow covered steep slopes without a problem where my previous Renault would have stopped dead with a traction control melt down.
The main new this week though is my turbulent Monday, the warehouse roller shutter decided to come out of it’s tracks Monday afternoon and while I was up a ladder trying to persuade it back in it dropped onto my head causing a big gash with blend and incredible amount. Thanks to have more work to do - including finishing off making the warehouse roller shutter burglar proof again I had to just stem the blood flood with an entire toilet roll worth of rolled up and help onto the leak until it calmed down. So I just raided the first aid kit for gauze and medical tape, made myself a handy head patch and finished off the working day - dropping deliveries off on the way home and parcels to the lockers.
Tuesday I had so much coffee to roast I had to start early, and ended up going to get my injured noggin looked at in the afternoon - doing a few more deliveries on the way - “Oooh what have you done to your head” was quite common as I stumbled around with my ad hoc white trauma patch stuck to my head. Surprisingly Accident and Emergency at the hospital was reasonably ok, and I got in and out with 2 hours - although that might have just been due to minor injuries section being relatively quiet. They just cleaned the gash up and glued it closed to keep the germs out and let it heal itself - I would have skipped the hospital but the family were having a nervous breakdown at the size of the gash/
The remaining weeks has been as expected crazy - so many local orders to deliver, shipped out orders are insane and Thursday I had another 500kg massive coffee and chocolate drop for the Christmas Markets before heading to a customer who has just installed a new Toper 30klg roaster to help them get started using it.
Black Friday was busy too, and we also launched our limited edition @whiterosecoffee Black Rose espresso - it’s so good I’m actually really impressed with myself for coming up with the blend and roast level

Another hectic week, after last weekends mammoth effort with the bedroom carpet fitting and emergency hot chocolate sauce and coffee drop off - back to work and it’s been the usual busy start to the week.
As the Christmas rush is now in full swing coffee orders are of course ramping up, the local customers are getting through a big chunk of coffee and our broad range of origins are moving quick too - so we have a constant roast schedule every day to keep up - with both roasters seeing action daily and a weekly restock of green coffee despite our already massive base stock.
As usual the weekly local drops require run outs most days, plus even after the big Christmas market deliveries last Wednesday and Saturday another big 500kg drop on Thursday. Tuesday also had coffee training for Big Shots in Brighouse, and a machine and grinder swap out at Mamil cycling themed bar in Brighouse - busy busy.
The gift packs are going well as you would expect, and we have a new limited edition for Black Friday - plus a whole load of sales going on too.
Needless to say the continued heavy demands on my time work is creating is leaving very little left for anything else, although I did catch a new movie Red Notice which was really good - and Hawkeye starts next week - looking forward to that.

It never rains it pours, and after another fully maxed out week I know the feeling. Back at work last Saturday waiting for a delivery of new coffee presses - and filled in the waiting time cutting up the new roaster crate sides to make cross beams for a section of racking and then the rest were cut up for the shelves.
Sunday a busy shopping day, but also had the chance for a break a little before Monday started with a bang. People were due 9am Monday to look at the old roaster, so an already always busy start to the week got even busier. Then the Christmas market stalls in Manchester needed stocking up for the opening - so stock had to prepared for delivering to the centre of Manchester on Wednesday. In between all this effort there has been loads of coffee to roast, with both roasters going flat out. A full round go local deliveries this week with every Halifax customer needing drop off’s this week.
And after cramming 500kg of coffee and hot chocolate in the Rav 4 to take to Manchester on Wednesday, Saturday morning I had another 400kg to drop at the Huddersfield depot because the Manchester Christmas markets had cleared the first drop in a day and a half!

A much calmer weekend last week, with a trip to York on the Saturday and a relaxing Sunday catching up on shopping and family tasks.
Back to work Monday and we had a bumper weekend for @whiterosecoffee orders so it was a frantic day getting them all packed and shipped, which started another full on week of coffee roasting. The new 5kg batch coffee roaster arrived and needed to be uncrated, so it is now ready to be installed when we get chance to decommission the old one.
After the unpleasant break in at work the week before, all the windows have now been fortified with wire mesh - on the road facing side it has been fitted on the inside - it would look ugly on the outside and you really would have to be a special sort of stupid to try and break in on a well lit road this is busy 24/7 and has housing in clear view. Now if they manage to break the glass solid metal grids ensure they will not get in anyway.
The broken pane is still awaiting arrival of the new piece of glass, but for now is substantially boarded on both the inside and outside. Once fitted like the existing pane it will be wired on the outside - these two are hidden from view by a building - hence why someone decided to try their luck. Between all that and additional motion sensing cameras sending me notifications of movement - hopefully he next twelve years will be as trouble free as the first twelve were in the building.
We had a photoshoot of our Christmas gift packs for @whiterosecoffee - the business managing the @whiterosecoffee social media arranged it and brought props too - the photos look amazing and will be part of #sublimesunday when I get chance to do it next.
And of course it’s the 5th of November, Guy Fawkes night in the UK - or Bonfire Night, Firework Night, Set fire to any old wood you can find night. I’m not tight, but I never buy fireworks - totally no point when you can stand outside and watch everyone else’s for free! Plus it’s impossible to injure yourself watching other peoples fireworks from a safe distant.

Another weekend of painting to finish off the bedroom, although now it’s just waiting to sort a new carpet out at some point.
The working week did not start well walking into the work office to find glass everywhere and a big whole where the window used to be, turned out someone had smashed the window and dived in to rifle the drawers and headed off with cash from the Petty Cash tin. If there can be a plus they didn’t wreck the office, but it was annoying having to spend an hour sweeping up glass and finding boards to cover up the space in the window.
I expected thick double glazed glass to be tougher, reviewing the CCTV you can clearly see him using a traffic cone of all things to smash in - unlucky for him the CCTV gave a clear video of the whole 8 minutes which has been passed to the Police. So along with replacing the glass wire mesh will now be on the outside to keep them away from the glass and of course getting in. And the rest of the windows are getting wired mesh treatment too, it’ll look ugly but I’m not trusting windows after this experience. I have also added to my camera collection with another internal motion sensor camera that sends app notifications when it detects movement - so I’ll know if anyone is moving about either end of the warehouse now.
Aside from the break in drama, it’s been the usual hectic week with big coffee orders to roast and clear, fresh stock coming in and our new 5kg roaster as well - so lots to organise and get done and with new work being done on the @whiterosecoffee socials there have been loads of demand on sorting things out to get that up and running.
