GNN Gaming Podcast: Recent Episodes

Some say absence makes the heart grow fonder, which hopefully takes effect after only a single missing week.

This week on the GNN Gaming Podcast we wonder aloud about two recent, brutal murders that have been attributed to gaming. Who's fault is it when these things happen? The games that 'taught' the individual; the parents of the person; or something else.

In lighter news, we're a week out from the Xbox Infinity press conference, which means we get to start speculating on what's to come from Microsoft.

For this week's out of left field, though we should have expected it, news, we found out that Electronic Arts has entered into a multi-year licensing deal for the rights to future Star Wars games. What are the positives and negatives of such a business arrangement? Does this spell doom for Star Wars and the fans, or is this the beginning of something great?

  • Okey Ogba – Game Reviewer/Podcaster for GNN

Injustice: Gods Among Us released this week, which led to a lively discussion about the game's mechanics and my personal apprehension towards it.

Nintendo released a slew of information on upcoming 3DS titles this past week. Instead of discussing those too in-depth, we instead side-stepped onto trying to figure out what has gone wrong with the Wii U. Will the lack of success for the young system spell potential doom for Nintendo?

That and what we're playing, or longing to play on this week's episode of GNN Gaming!

Side Note: Do you have something you would like us to discuss on the podcast? Maybe a topic that you're looking for a second opinion of, or some piece of news you think we've missed? If so, there are plenty of places you can message us to let us know:

On this episode we discuss EA's decision to embrace a purely microtransaction mindset on gaming. Obviously both David and Okey approve of this idea. Speaking of controversies, we delve deeper into what's going on with Gearbox Software in light of the Aliens Colonial Marines clusterfrell. There's also the potential controversy of what's going on with yet another Assassin's Creed game releasing this year. I already detailed some aspects of the game's big announcement, but you can hear more of my thoughts and theories from the night before the trailer premiered.

Finally we delve gently into problems that may be facing the industry as a whole. Plenty of high-ranking talent such as Cliff Bleszinski, Mike Capps, Dr. Ray Muzyka, and plenty more have been moving on from the gaming industry, while complaints about work conditions are on the rise. What could this hold for the lifestyle we all love so much?

That, and a whole lot of censorship, on this edition of the GNN Gaming Podcast!
