Matt Dell-
With a career that spans over 20 years, Matt Dell is a name that has been turning heads in the music industry since day one. Matt received singer/songwriter of the year awards in 2009 and 2012 in his hometown and received media praise as one of Niagara's finest musicians. In 2014 Matt’s band I’ve Got Gloria exploded onto the scene after placing top 12 on 97.7 HITZ FM’s Rock Search, and top 20 on 102.1 The Edge’s Next Big Thing competitions. As a certificate holder in songwriting from Berklee College of Music, Matt’s work has received airplay on radio stations across North America including Toronto’s 102.1 The Edge and 9.77 HITZ FM along with the #1 alternative radio station on the internet IDOBI Radio. Now a full time music teacher, Matt has taught over 21,000 private lessons as a vocal coach and has worked with such artists as Seaway (toured with Blink-182, Sum 41, etc) and Bearings (debuted #11 for best new artist on Billboard in 2018), The Expanse actor Wes Chatham, and Stranger Things actor Dacre Montgomery for the film The Broken Hearts Gallery. Matt’s passion has always been in helping others learn and grow as artists. His approach to teaching uses a biological and physiological method to help students better understand how voice mechanics work, how you are currently using your voice, And how to improve the efficiency of your voice.

Dr. Oelberger-
is a licensed Psychologist based in Los Angeles. He received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology through the Saybrook Graduate School in San Francisco, with an emphasis in Spirituality and Consciousness. He holds ACT board certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and a Certification in Sports psychology- having trained with a Navy Seal in order to target emotional obstacles to performance amongst athletes. Dr.Oelberger has attained the rank level of Shodan, in Shaolin kempo martial arts and was awarded this rank in the Shaolin temple in Deng Feng, China in the summer of 2013. Richard has a book published on the integration of spirituality and psychology entitled, “Qualitative Kabbalah: The Value of Living a Spiritual System”. His Master’s thesis focused on Treatment and understanding of Post -Traumatic Stress disorder, specifically cultural and historical trends and implications for treatment.
Richard Oelberger, PhD offers his own unique style of psychology differentiating him amongst traditional forms of psychology, integrating a model of psychology combining Somatic and body oriented psychotherapy with mindfulness and spiritual approaches. He hosts a bi weekly Podcast on his Richardlistens channel on Apple Podcasts on topics surrounding channeling your own inner hero, covering the field of Performance, Human transformation, and Sports Psychology related interests. He continues to coach multiple youth sports teams and actively engages community development of sport and team building.

Little Rock, Arkansas native, Pamela Hopkins, is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. She is a Dueling Piano Player by trade and also leads her own band. Pamela started her music career back in the 90's and took time away from the music scene to pursue other careers and to raise her children. She started part time as a dueling piano player in 2013, and eventually went full-time in the summer of 2014. Around 2018, she decided to find her own sound and began to write and record her own music in Arkansas. Pamela released an EP in 2018 and her first CD in 2019. Pamela decided to search for a new studio close to her flavor of music in the spring of 2020. She became one of Off the Row Recording Studio's "Break Out Artists" and recorded 4 singles that were released throughout 2020. She had decided to continue writing and recorded 7 more songs. Four of those songs were release in 2021 and the other three are scheduled to release in 2022. Pamela continues to co-write with several Nashville writers, including number 1 hit writer, Billy Lee (The One by Gary Allen), Scott Barrier (former band member for Gretchen Wilson) and Dave Lenahan (former radio personality and current podcast personality). In 2021, Pamela released 4 new songs throughout the year. She co-wrote each song with various Nashville writers and was excited to release her first co-written duet featuring Matt Dame (singer for The SteelDrivers), on February 5, 2021 titled "Little Things." (Currently the 2021 "Country Song of the Year" for a Duo/Group with the Josie Music Awards--the largest independent music awards show). She ended 2021 with a duet she co-wrote with Dave Lenahan and Melissa Leigh. Pamela found the perfect male voice to accompany her in her latest single, "One More Last Kiss," by enlisting Jason Lee Campbell to collaborate with her on the recording... you can now hear that song on her newly released album or by streaming the single on all major streaming outlets. Her song, "Givin' a Damn (Don't Go With My Outfit)," is also the title of her new 8-song album which became available for sale on December 21, 2021. She has more music being released throughout 2022 and she can't wait for her fans to hear her new co-written music, she said, "I am so excited to put out new music that will hopefully make people connect with me and with their inner-selves. Mike Oppenheim
has been interested in entertainment since he was a child, but became serious in 1999 when he began his career in music. In 2006, he started his weekly essay series, The Casual Casuist, which continues to be featured in various newspapers across the country, casually. In 2011, he earned an MFA from Mills College in Creative Fiction with his first novel, Dysfunction. Two years later he published his second novel, Baby Doll: The Book, followed by Too True to be Good in 2017, and The Apology in 2021, and his fifth novel, Ardor, will hit bookshelves in 2022. In 2020, Mike began an episodic TV show, Books Out Loud and a year later began his podcast, Coffin Talk, a weekly show that explores “The Meaning of Death.” Mike also hosts bonus podcasts, Casual Conversations, available for premium subscribers. In his spare time Mike indexes books, eats avocados, facilitates writing workshops, and hangs with his family.

Amy Scruggs
Raised in San Dimas, California, Amy has been in front of the camera her entire life, either singing, performing or speaking. She is a classically trained pianist and vocalist who has been playing the piano since the age of 4. She has over 15 years of professional singing experience with large audiences where she opened for many country music greats including; Trace Adkins, Clint Black, Charlie Daniels, Little Texas, Hal Ketchum, Phil Vassar, Josh Gracin and others. Amy was featured in the July 2009 issue of Country Weekly Magazine as well as the September 2009 cover story for Nashville Music Guide. She recorded her first album, Right Here Right Now, in 2007. Amy recently recorded a new EP in Nashville, TN, produced by legendary music Producer Fred Mollin. Her New Single "What If It All Goes Right" released November 2021. Full EP release spring of 2022. In 2012, after years of touring the national stage full time, Amy decided to reenter the business world specializing in Business Development and Media Coaching for Executives. As a Media Coach, she has provided public speaking coaching and on-camera training for corporate clients by providing team training seminars, as well as for business executives, entrepreneurs, Artists, and nonprofit organizations who are looking to enhance their virtual or digital media skills. As a Motivational Speaker, Amy uses examples from her own life story to help empower and motivate others. As a Media Executive, Amy is known as the “Voice and Face” of Mutual of Omaha Mortgage, where she writes, directs and hosts a national digital marketing campaign for a Fortune 500 company. She is the in-house Media Coach for senior company executives and top sales performers. She is also the host for the national TV show, "Financing The American Dream", on CNBC. Having spent most of my adult life under the Colours in the British Army from being an infantry soldier to being an experienced PSYOPS Operator on 7 operational deployments has given me some awesome opportunities. I played a lot of rugby and my position was at scrum half, I ski telemark and have competed several times at the British Telemark Championships, I was a Hang Gliding Instructor, I played American Football for Milton Keynes Pioneers, I'm a reasonably experienced offshore sailor and have owned 3 boats, sailed around the UK with just the wife and Artie the Ship's cat. I spent my last 8 years in the Army as a Unit Welfare Officer for London Central Garrison and have taken part in all the Ceremonial duties in London during that time. Nowadays I'm retired and spend my time Podcasting and Vloging, and on the committees of the Portsmouth & Gosport History Group and Hornet Services Sailing Club.

Gary Pratt is a singer, a songwriter, and most of all, an energetic country entertainer, who connects with his audience. He grew up in the small, old coal mining town of Slickville, Pennsylvania. In addition to being the front man for several local bands in the Pittsburgh area, he has had the experience of hitting the Nashville club and showcase scene. He has had the pleasure of singing at the Tennessee State Fair, Rocky Gap Music Festival and CMA Fest. Gary has been the opening act for such greats as Dwight Yoakum, Pam Tillis, Lorrie Morgan, Ronnie Milsap and Crystal Gayle, to name a few.
His March album release, "Something Worth Remembering'' (MTS Records), is dedicated to his brother, who recently passed. The album is a combination of Gary's originals and songs written by hit Nashville songwriters. The title track was written by Grammy Award Nominee, Tony Arata, who wrote Garth Brooks' "The Dance". In the making for more than a year, the album was recorded at Tonic Studios with Engineer Doug Kasper, Producer Bryan Cole (Ashley Puckett, Savannah) and Musician/Artist Adam Ernst. Excited about this new album, Gary invited MTS Records’ award-winning male vocalist Matt Westin and multiple international #1 iTunes female vocalist Savannah (Nider) to help out on a few songs. Savannah and Gary recorded the duet he wrote, "To Find Us", at Omni Studios in Nashville. The album contains the international #1 iTunes smash, “A Song You Can Drink a Beer To.”
Gary is a 2021 International Singer Songwriters Association Award Winner and a 2021 Josie Music Awards nominee.
A man of faith,Gary is forever thankful to God for walking with him through life, paving this music journey and for putting the gift of music in his heart. Was born in Santa Clara, CA. She moved 14 times by the time she was 14. Needless to say, she knows how to mingle. Kristen was 7, the first time getting on stage. 10 years later, she was voted class clown and had to perform a comedy skit in front of her senior class. It was then she realized, making people laugh with and at her, was a safe and satisfying escape from her turbulent past. Frisk’s comedy is without filters…elaborating on kids, work, health, body issues, family dysfunction, and romantic innuendos, marriage, and divorce. She’s making her mark as a female comic, proving that women can be smart, sassy, and funny. She constantly strives to make beauty from ashes and uses her quick wit and sarcasm from her life experiences to uplift and make others smile. Kristen has Featured for acts such as Adele Givens, Natasha Leggero, Jennifer Coolidge, and Scott Capurro. Kristen is also known for being the apartment wife of the Real Funny Housewives of Rio Linda, however increased her credit score just enough to be able to buy her first home. Kristen is steadily working her way up the comedy club chain at venues such as Laugh’s Unlimited Comedy Club - Sacramento, CA, Punchline - Sacramento, CA, and Tommy Ts - Pleasanton, CA. In 2011, Dallas played for the USA Softball Women's Junior Team, which won the gold medal at the Pan American Championships. At Arizona State University she was the starting pitcher for the Sun Devils in her freshman year and helped lead the Sun Devils to the 2011 NCAA Division I national softball title. She also played with the Sun Devils as the team went to the Women's College World Series her sophomore and junior year. She was chosen for the WCWS All-Tournament Team and was voted WCWS co-Most Outstanding Player. She finished her Sun Devil career with a 115-26 win-loss record and a total of 1,222 strikeouts. Dallas Escobedo was the National Pro Fastpitch No. 1 draft pick in 2014. She joined the Pennsylvania Rebellion and helped give the team their first victory in June 2014. That season she pitched 69 innings in 16 games. Escobedo pitched for Mexico in the 2016 Women's Softball World Championship. On December 20, 2017, Escobedo signed a five-year contract with the Scrap Yard Dawgs. About a month later, the Dawgs left NPF and were renamed Scrap Yard Fast Pitch. At the Tokyo games, Escobedo went 2–2 for Team Mexico, tossing 20.0 innings and giving up 15 hits, 8 walks, and 7 earned runs to finish with a 2.45 ERA and 1.15 WHIP, with 13 strikeouts. Escobedo was the historic first pitcher in the first game for Mexico in the Olympics when the softball tournament opened on July 20 and also earned their first win on July 25, 2021. Mexico lost the Bronze medal game on July 27 to place fourth, Escobedo did not play. From 2015 to 2017, Escobedo was a graduate assistant at Arizona State. On August 16, 2017, Escobedo became pitching coach at Cal State Fullerton. In her first season on staff, Cal State Fullerton won the 2018 Big West Conference championship with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and qualified for the regional final after an upset win over regional host UCLA.

Even though she considers her hometown as the tiny city of St Helena, CA, Sarah Lopez is not your average small-town girl. Throughout her life, she has moved well over 27 times and during part of her life, lived in a 36ft Bounder Motor Home selling See's candies, slept on a dashboard, and didn't start attending public school until the 7th grade. Sarah quoted our Co-Host, Rob, at an event Sarah spoke once that really helped change his life. "The Door In Front Of You Is Unlocked, You Just Have To Open It. Fast forward, she is now a 2009 graduate of San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and is the Communications and Development Manager for A Method Public Schools, a show announcer at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, the host of Diamond Certified Experts consumer tip videos for the American Ratings Corporation, the youngest Executive Director in the Miss California Organization for the Miss Napa County Scholarship Program, and is featured as "Savvy Sasa" on The NAPA Show for Channel 28 with Napa Valley TV. The keys to her success? Hard work, dedication, and most importantly, a positive attitude. Sarah is a three-time local titleholder in the Miss America Organization as Miss Marin County 2011, Miss Northern California Regional 2009, and Miss Napa County 2008. She became involved in pageants when she was 16 years old as a contestant in the Napa Valley Junior Miss Program and then went on to participate in the Miss Napa County Scholarship Program. Little Rock, Arkansas native, Pamela Hopkins,
is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Her first Nashville album of all original music was released in February 1995, and she got back in the studio recording her second album/EP project that was released in October 2018. Pamela also released 2 singles in 2019. Pamela got back in the studio in the spring of 2020, in Franklin, TN, to record her next 4 singles with Off the Row Recording Studio as one of their "Break Out Artists." She is super excited to let her fans hear her new co-written songs, as well as recording a couple of songs written by number 1 hit songwriter, Jim Femino. In 2021, Pamela has 6 fresh new songs to release throughout the year. She co-wrote each song with various Nashville writers and was excited to release her first co-written duet featuring Matt Dame, on February 5, 2021, titled "Little Things." In October 2013, she began as a Dueling Piano Player for Ernie Biggs in the River Market District of Little Rock. In January of 2017, Pamela transitioned to Willy D's Rock & Roll Dueling Piano Bar, a larger venue, in the River Market District in Little Rock. In addition to Willy D's, she can be seen in other venues, Norwegian Cruise Ships, and clubs across the US. She continues to grow her craft, repertoire, and network of fellow musicians in what is a very unique niche in the music industry - Piano bars!
Pamela spends a few weeks a year entertaining the troops overseas with ProTour Productions and Armed Forces Entertainment. She has a passion for this, as her very own husband, Jason, is a disabled veteran who served in Iraq from 2004-2005. She wrote a song of her experience as a wife/mother of 3 small children during this difficult time, as well as describing how soldiers come back home, changed forever. Matt began his baseball career when he landed a Public Relations internships with the Cincinnati Reds and Tucson Padres in 2012 and followed that with a PR and Operations position with the Pacific Coast League Office in Round Rock, Texas in 2013. His time in the PCL Office led him to an opportunity with the Sacramento River Cats in 2014 where he made connections with the Great West League representatives and Collegiate Summer Baseball. In 2015 Matt served as the General Manager for the Marysville Gold Sox and in 2016 he helped run the Sacramento Stealth. He joined the Potters for their first season in Lincoln in 2017 as General Manager. In 2019 Matt began serving as Vice President of the Lincoln Potters, as well as joined Clifton and Isabel in ownership.
Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Matt Lundgren graduated with a Public Management degree from Northern Arizona University. He now resides in Sacramento with his wife, Randi, and their two young boys.

Carmen Gray was signed to Sony/BMG in 2005 and during the next nine years, they went on to record three albums and one EP. The group’s entire catalog (including such radio hits as “Lost In My Mind Again”, “Gates Of Loneliness” & “Life Can Be Beautiful”) was penned by Tom Tikka & Lappe Holopainen. After Carmen Gray disbanded in 2013, Tikka formed his current group The Impersonators with poet Antti Autio. In 2017, The Impersonators signed with FBP Music Group, a German label based out of Frankfurt. Together with their producer Janne Saksa, The Impersonators have released tunes to rave reviews and considerable radio attention. In 2020, Tikka began working with MTS Records and released a solo EP titled “Working Class Voodoo” under the name Tom Tikka And The Missing Hubcaps. On this self-produced venture, Tikka plays and sings everything himself. The title single reached the UK Top 100 iTunes singles chart. His latest single reached #2 on the Pop charts in South Africa!

To say Tedi Brunetti has “seen everything” during her career in music would be a vast understatement. The drummer, singer, and songwriter from Pittsburgh grew up listening to songs on a transistor radio while banging away on a hamper and old hat boxes. Describing herself as a “sober Janis Joplin meeting Steely Dan in Memphis,” it wasn’t long before Tedi was touring with New York City’s The Impalas, Toronto’s infamous B-Girls, and performing with Isis’ Carol MacDonald before finally deciding to launch her solo career. Tedi wraps the psyche in luscious vocals. Each song charming and engaging you in an intimate conversation, as you forget she's singing, the story unfolds. Tedi balances her humorous observations and mature intention lyrically while she drives and defines the band from her drum throne. She may yet be the Queen of Pittsburgh! Tedi’s current music project is a full-length album titled Queen of Pittsburgh. It will feature a mix of songs ranging from blues shuffles to more eclectic originals clearly influenced by classic rock, jazz, and blues. Queen of Pittsburgh is being produced by Dean Allen Sargent (Public Enemy, Taylor Dayne, Blue Oyster Cult) who also co-wrote some of the tracks, and Michael Henegan (Sonny Rhodes, Lonnie Shields, Randy Lippincott). The album is slated for a 2021 release and will be available on all major streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon. Physical copies will be available for purchase via our official website store. When she isn’t working on music, Tedi spends much of her time traveling, often visiting several major cities in one trip. She and her husband have hit the road to enjoy BBQ in hotspots like Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, Austin, and San Antonio. They are also fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins and have traveled to see the teams play several road games over the years. The roots of Izzie's Caravan go deep, a long way back to my high-school days and playing bad music on very expensive instruments, to my university days playing good rock n roll on cheap instruments. It was in 2005 when Ray and I decided to start a band, sacrificing food and money for buying gear. We had a shitty little recorder on which I started laying down tracks, and Ray would stroll over in the harshest Canadian winters with his bass strapped on his back, and we would write every day. With enough material, we knew we needed a voice, and I remember writing the following words on a sheet and posting it on a local music store: 'Vocalist needed for classic rock band!!! No pop-commercial-alt crap, just pure classic rock influenced by Tom Petty/CCR/AEROSMITH/GUNS N ROSES/MOTLEY CRUE.' I met a couple of posers after who just didn't fit the bill. Until one day this guy shows up at the door, a guitar case with a Fender Tele in his hand and a Motley Crue tee. He didn't say much, walked in, took out the guitar, and started playing Highway to Hell. F**k that was it!!! When Sim came on board under the band name of 'MARS WATTS And the DEEP IMPACTERS, I knew I had a friend and a brother to whom I owe so much, and we went on to release 'TEN-CENT PLEASURES' and 'AN INFINITE DAY'. From those days, stories that shall not be revealed until the three of us willingly sit down and talk about them, to now has been a long, long hiatus for me. IZZIES CARAVAN Is a new lease on life for me, and I intend to make my music matter for myself. Keeping true to our code back in the day, the music on this site is only and only intended for my own understanding - although anyone else who can relate is most welcome to.

Believe me, this isn't your typical be positive, focus on the end goal, cut calories, move more crap. Arushi knows from experience, that doesn't work. If it did, Arushi wouldn't have fallen into depression and suicidal thoughts. A journey she's been on for over 20 years... At 8 years old, Arushi discovered that I was borderline obese. I was immediately thrown into sports and banned from eating anything “unhealthy,” mainly chips, cookies, crackers, etc. She was the only kid at school with her lunchbox full of carrots and broccoli rather than a peanut butter sandwich and a juice box. She was yelled at to stop watching television and go “be healthy” by running or walking outside, not sitting in the house. Believe me, watching her little brother dig his hand into a bag of Cheetos and stuff his face with them was not easy. The playground was no easier. Arushi's friends told her she was ugly and fat to her face, with these commentaries, behind-my-back chats, and bullying continuing through high school. On the outside, Arushi acted like the most confident person on the planet. A steel exterior, you couldn’t breakthrough. You might think, wow, fake till you make it and you made it! Oh no, not even close. Being that way ate Arushi through and through. She felt fake, unheard, unseen, and cursed to have to live this way. her low self-esteem caused Arushi to fall victim to every quick diet scheme, influencer workout, skinny tea, and trainer promising incredible results in just 6 weeks. She would starve herself, workout 3 times a day 5 days a week, and run for hours on the treadmill with no results to show for it. Arushi had no desire to go out, meet my friends, or even talk to anyone. She fell into an abyss of body shaming, body dysmorphia, and a dangerous obsession with perfectionism, which led me to almost ending my life. It wasn’t until Arushi read this quote, that my life and perspective would change forever. “If you let others control your life, you will never live one.” Arushi realized the reason she felt this way was because she was too busy trying to live up to everyone else’s expectations of her, rather than her own version of herself. Arushi had no idea who she was or what she even wanted. Arushi decided that if she was going to not only thrive but even just survive, she had to take the first step to discover HER.

Lidia currently resides in Sacramento, California, where she grew up after moving from her birthplace México (Tijuana, Baja California) in 2007. Born at the end of the millennium on September 14, 1999. She lived in México for six years and moved up north to the United States with her family Miguel Angel Longorio Alcantar (Father), Esther Guadalupe Duarte Aguilar (Mother), and Claret Alejandra Legorreta Duarte (Older Sister). As of 2021, Longorio is in her early twenties at twenty-one years old. At age 20 her first book was published. Her debut book "Hey Humanity" (September 27, 2019) was a success for a poetry debut book. She is at the beginning of her even younger career and has acquired dedicated fans from all walks of life. By 2020 Longorio published her first novel titled, "Death’s Rattle" (August 15, 2020). A ten-chapter dark comedy. Lidia is writing the second volume to "Hey Humanity" as her readers eagerly wait. Lidia is a creative creator in multiple forms of media. Including literature, photography, filmmaking, directing, and more! She is known for her complex realism and emotive imagery. I transitioned from the Bay Area to the Foothills of Placer County to connect back to my love of Cuisine. I am bringing everything I’ve learned throughout my career path into an opportunity to share with everyone through wonderful pairings of food and drink. I’ve covered just about every aspect of the Food, Hospitality and Lodging industries, in the capacity of operations, logistics and management.
I started my career at the age of 16, baking pizzas in a stone oven and keeping up with the grind as Scullery Boy. An opportunity to learn front of house operations had me spend several years at the Bay Area’s cornerstone French restaurant, Le Virage in Walnut Creek. While there I was taught the three types of traditional service and table side cooking. I spent my days off stocking the wine room for the Sommelier, giving me hands on experience of the wines that Lolek the owner had travelled the World to bring to the customers.
My passion to expand my knowledge afforded me to obtain a Hotel-Restaurant Management and Commercial Baking-Pastry degree from Diablo Valley College Hotel & Restaurant program, as well as graduating with Honors from the prestigious California Culinary Academy. My internship from the CCA landed me at the Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford, immersing me into the center of the wine world and “California Cuisine”.
After some years in the Bay Area restaurant scene cooking at notables Spiedini and Max’s Opera Cafe’, I moved to our nations capitol in Washington D.C. to cook at the Jockey Club in the Ritz Carlton. Under World renowned Chef Hidemasa Yamamoto, I built a solid foundation of seasonal cuisine with high attention to detail and flavor. My time there was capped off with a promotion to Hotel Garde’ Manger, to lead the Banquet team through the elections and into inauguration for many of the “who’s who” about town. I was honored to be asked to move over to the new Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City to be Saucier for Two Stars Michelin Chef Gerard Pangaud. At the time, he was the youngest chef to achieve 2 stars and mentored me on all aspects of how a Chef is to conduct Cuisine in a top kitchen.
The opportunity to lead my own kitchen and prepare regional Virginia Cuisine as our founding Fathers had done, brought me to the historic Bailiwick Inn, in Fairfax VA. As Chef there, I partnered with the Historical Society at Monticello as well as being asked to cook a dinner at the James Beard House in New York. The highly acclaimed Washington Post Food Critic, Phyllis Richman, wrote about the food as a place Thomas Jefferson would have stopped on his way to and from his home while President.
A strong pull to get back to family had me back in the Bay Area with stints at the Pleasanton Hotel and Wente, then a 20 year career learning a whole new aspect of the industry with Diversey and Ecolab. My success there in sales and running a multi-million dollar business, opened up the opportunity to settle under the ageless oaks in Clover Valley. I hope to get to know many more of my neighbors here in Placer County so we can enjoy the bounty together!

Daraja Academy is a revolutionary idea – a secondary school where remarkable Kenyan girls, otherwise forgotten due to the lack of school fees, are given the one thing they desire most… a chance to succeed because Daraja and its supporters believe educated girls can transcend poverty and change the world. Daraja Academy is a secondary school to educate Kenyan girls who cannot otherwise afford the fees associated with public secondary schools in Kenya. The first class enrolled in 2009. As of 2021, Daraja Academy has 125 alumnae, and the school has 118 students in the 4 year Academy and 26 Transition (5th-Year) Students). 82% of alumni have been admitted to colleges and universities. 6 Graduates have attended (or are currently attending) college in the U.S. 33%Daraja graduates earn 33% more than the average Kenyan. 37% of graduates hold formal leadership positions. 80% of graduates are engaged in community service. Daraja Academy's educational curriculum adheres to the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) standards. The academy is situated on the former campus of the Baraka School, a small education program that took at-risk 12-year-old boys from the Baltimore public school system to the Kenyan outback which was featured in the 2005 documentary film The Boys of Baraka. Daraja Academy was the first project of Daraja Education Fund, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, formed in 2006 by Jason and Jenni Doherty, educators from the San Francisco Bay Area. Craig Schmich from Lincoln, CA had dreams of being a collegiate baseball player. After being an All League Pitcher at Lincoln High School, he went on to Sierra College were he found the competition to be a lot tougher than he imagined. Plus being overweight wasn't helping. Craig went to his Mom and she helped him find a way to help change his health journey and to date has lost 150 pounds. This hard work and getting back into playing after taking time away to coach baseball, Craig earned an offer from Minot State University!
