VIU Cultural Conversations: Recent Episodes
Vancouver Island University
Vancouver Island University has a diverse cultural community and we want to engage in a variety of discussions from alternating perspectives. We hope to have a diverse number of host and guests that represent the makeup of our multicultural and dynamic community. Each episode will have a format chosen by the host in which to offer them a platform to share there perspective with guests.
I wanted to talk to Chai Duncan , the curator of the view gallery, to explore how we can incorporate some art into our theatre lobby and talk about some of his choices when he thinks about a space.
We try an advance the conversation forward about views on cancel culture and how social advocacy and the arts combine. We talk with Nicolle Nattrass and Leon Potter about how they travel these waters.
This is our premier episode where we try and open up the conversation from varying perspectives. This is episode is an experiment to create dialogue centered around gender affirmations and indigenous land acknowledgments from 3 separate perspectives. Jocelyn has recently graduated with her Bachelor in education and certificate in Theatre. Dean Chadwick a retired educator and artistic director of schmooze productions that offers Vancouver Island eclectic entertainment. Along with myself Robin Boxwell to assist in hosting and to advance conversations that are important to our community at VIU.
