This is certainly the drama that has everyone talking on both sides of the pond, albeit one that was slow to reel people in. The seven-parter has Kate Winslet in its lead as Mare Sheehan, a gruff small-town detective, dealing with a murder inquiry and some heavy personal issues of her own. Maria, Aoibhin, Mary and Julie Smyth dissect the show - with spoilers galore!
This week, Aoibhin, Maria and Mary turn their attention a movie, what with it being Oscar season and all. "Promising Young Woman" is the directorial debut of Emereld Fennell (she also wrote the screenplay, which bagged her the Oscar.) It's a dark comedy thriller, with Carey Mulligan in the lead...WARNING - this episode has many spoilers!
This comedy/drama is based on the 2018 novel of the same name, by Chris Bohjalian. It's a Sky / HBO production, with Kaley Cuoco taking centre stage as the troubled Cassie, a flight attendant whose life is turned upside down after she goes on a booze-fueled date in Bangkok. Aoibhin, Maria and Mary all enjoyed the series but each had a few issues..
