Hi everyone!
One thing we as people of color fail to realize is just how much inflammation or irritation can be setting us back from achieving our skincare goals?
In today's episode, I share some wisdom on how to reduce hyperpigmentation, which is something we tend to struggle with by simply minimizing irritation or inflammation where possible.
I do not want us to focus on what we have no control over like acne, skin disease or trauma. But instead, to focus on everyday skincare habits. This could be in the sunscreen, toners, serums, face washes and even moisturizers we use.
I hope you enjoy this episode. Please do not forget to share!

ABOUT TODAY's EPISODE
Hi everyone!
Are you struggling with your skin goals even though you are using the latest and/or best skincare actives like tretinoin, retinol, azelaic acid, vitamin c, peptides etc?
For the record, there is absolutely nothing wrong with actives, in fact your skin needs them to be the best they can be. That said, they can be very irritating and we tend to trivialize just using the bare minimum to support our skin barrier.
Did you know that a healthy skin barrier MUST be incorporated into your skincare regimen to reap the most benefits? Actives are great but I think non-actives might just be what you are missing.
Enjoy today's episode and please support my podcast!

ABOUT TODAY's EPISODE
Hi everyone! Following from last week's episode, in today's episode, we look at how to actually prepoo. Remember, as much as this step is beneficial to a healthy hair care regimen, it is totally optional. Hair care should be fun and enjoyable. I was quite clear in last week's episode, but in case I was not, this is exactly how to prepoo.

ABOUT TODAY's EPISODE
Hi everyone! Today, we look at what pre-poo (pre shampoo treatment) is, if it is necessary, the science behind it and how to apply the knowledge.
Pre-poo treatments are very popular, but sometimes not properly understood. This episode breaks it all down with some science receipts, as per usual! Enjoy!

ABOUT TODAY's EPISODE
Following up from last week's episode on the hair cuticle, today's episode focuses on all we can do to preserve the cuticle. If you want to see inches, and you have not been paying attention to the hair cuticle, then this episode is for you. I discuss why the cuticle is important, what is causes damage and steps we can take to preserve it, as long as possible. Cuticle damage will lead to exposure of the hair cortex, leading to split ends and we do not want that! Enjoy and make sure you apply the knowledge.

The list goes on and on. But beyond the type, is it possible to actually have 2 types? What would make it so? Find out on today's juicy episode.
Enjoy sipping your skin tea. Please share and share and share to the ends of the earth. Come one, come all. LOL

Does it seem like your woes begin with your face wash? Yes, it came "highly recommended" but you cannot seem to shake off how dry your face gets after washing? It does seem to help with oil production sometimes and other times, it seems to worsen it. Hmmmmm
There comes in the notorious acid mantle of the skin! What is the acid mantle of the skin? Is it overrated? How does it affect my ongoing skin woes? Can it aid in skin glow? Well, today's episode hopes to shed light on this important topic and steer you in the right direction when face wash shopping.
If you like today's episode, would you consider following, sharing and/or supporting? Anyone you do is HIGHLY appreciated. Thank you guys so much for coming back, I thoroughly enjoy sharing all the juicy tea on skin and hair.

When listening, do the term used in discussing hair loss and hair growth, sound like sldjfshfkdfsfjdfjsdfjl? Don't worry, you are not alone. Understanding is key to enjoying this podcast, and that is why in today's episode, I go over commonly used terms like alopecia, anagen, cicatricial, etc and explain them.
I want you to use this a a reference. So anytime you are lost, or do not understand, or just want a refresher, come back to this episode and listen to the easy definitions. You can also download the episode, if your data permits. I defined them in ways that are easy to understand and remember.
This will be a repeat occurrence so you can have a dedicated episode that just goes over the terms.
As usual, if this was helpful, please follow and share- thank you!

Congrats on making it to the third part, as we journey through hair growth. By now, you should know what the stages of hair growth include and how this can be applied to day to day practices on your hair growth journey.
In this episode, we wrap things up and also introduce the FGF5 gene responsible for prevention of anagen elongation. I wonder how that can be applied to patients undergoing hair loss.
Have you shared with someone? I would really appreciate if you do. But, thank you so much for listening, it means the world to me.

In today's episode, the main stages of the hair growth cycle, anagen, catagen and telogen, are explained in a simple and easy manner for you. It is important to understand how hair grows, that way, you can diagnose (to a large extent), the cause of your hair issues and know which aids might work.
I also explain why certain hair practices you may be doing or have heard cause hair to grow, do not indeed do that. Come back to this episode over and over again, if you want to refresh your knowledge on this subject matter, anytime.
Oh, please do not forget to listen, follow and share. Thank you so much, I truly appreciate it.

In today's episode, we look at prevention and treatment options. It should not be confused with central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia. In trying to simplify hair growth and retention, I grouped the tips into 4 categories (I added a bonus tip, you are welcome!). On your hair growth journey, whether your hair is type 4c, a mix of type 4 or other types, try and be intentional about matching every action under these tips. In addition to hair growth aids I will share in subsequent episodes, you will be amazed at the growth you begin to see when you put these into practice.
If you think stunted hair growth may be as a result of health issues, please see your qualified health care professional. Be kind to yourself, you may fall off the bandwagon, have set backs or not see a huge improvement - do not worry! We are on this journey and I will hold your hand, every step of the way!
I have a question for your below (for my Spotify listeners)...
Get growing!!
