Welcome to Dart Board Movie Night! The podcast where we put 20 movies up on a board, throw a dart at it, and let the fates decide. Follow along with us as we uncover hidden gems, rediscover old classics, and explore the odd corners of the film world, all guided by the tip of a dart. Hosted by Drew Clark and Jared Given.

We resurrect the Maya Copa bit (yes we know it's mea culpa) to deliver the greatest Maya Copa of all. Drew was a big dummy and didn't back his audio up properly so we lost a few episodes. On this episode we reflect on THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE (1973). Hope you enjoy. Drew is very sorry.

The name's Lazenby. George Lazenby. This week we are discussing George's first and only outing as James Bond in ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE (#19 on the board). Featuring the coolest "Bond Girl" of the series in Diana Rigg, arguably the baddest Blofeld in Telly Savalas, and some of the best action set pieces of the entire series, this one is not to be missed for anyone who appreciates a good spy flick.

This week we're covering an indie-arthouse classic from an artist who put everything on the line to make his films. It's John Cassavettes' THE KILLING OF A CHINESE BOOKIE (#18 on the board). Finally back to one of the original dartboard selections, this one challenged us and makes for one of the more impenetrable films we've ever covered. If you despise the fluff of normal Hollywood filmmaking, this might get your attention, as it breaks ALL the rules.

We're tapping into our inner scum-bum this week with Alex Cox's 1984 film REPO MAN (#17 on the board). We were divided on this one but anyone who is a fan of anarchic cinema with a mind of its own will find plenty to love here.

This week on the podcast we dig into Robert Downey Sr.'s absurd comedy PUTNEY SWOPE (#16 on the board), one of the original 20 dart board additions. If you think Old Spice commercials from 10 years ago created their own style, watch this movie and think again. This movie has a vibe entirely its own, bouncing from bit to bit with reckless abandon. If you are a comedy nerd, this is a must watch.

Some technical difficulties with Jared's mic this week, our apologies
Jared gets his third choice in a row this week with Sam Peckinpah's 1970 western-comedy, THE BALLAD OF CABLE HOGUE (#20 on the board). Drew and Jared split on this one, but came to the consensus that Jason "Big Dawg" Robards is the greatest actor of all time. Give it a watch and see if you agree!

Dropping this a week late due to some technical difficulties!
This week we cover a film by our first repeat director, Mike Nichols, with his incredibly funny film, THE BIRDCAGE (#15 on the board). Much later in his career than CATCH-22, it offers a different view of his filmmaking style that's much more focused on being a straightforward comedy. For any fans of Robin Williams and clever situational comedy, this will be exactly what you're looking for.

We're covering our first true comedy this week with ALAN PARTRIDGE (2013), also known as ALAN PARTRIDGE: ALPHA PAPA. This is absolutely one of the funniest movies either of us has seen in recent years. If you ever asked yourself the question, "which is the worst monger? Fish, iron, rumor, or war?" you are going to be good friends with Mr. Partridge.

Our first Bullseye and our first episode with a guest! Today we're joined by the voice of our theme song, Eric Williams, for a movie that neither Drew nor Jared had even heard of before, VIVARIUM (2020). If you're a fan of BLACK MIRROR, or similarly heady sci-fi, this one is going to hit the mark. Truly an out of left field choice, and a great first Bullseye!

One of the great "making-of" stories in Hollywood history, HEAVEN'S GATE (#3 on the board) is considered one of the greatest failures of all time. This week, we give it a reappraisal. Give this episode a listen to hear why we think this film deserves to be considered one of the great western epics of all time, despite many people at the time calling it one of the worst movies ever made.

This week, we dig into one of the all-time great debut directorial efforts, BOUND (#10 on the board). Lana and Lilly Wachowski show us a glimpse of what they are capable of, right before they go off to make one of the greatest films of all time, THE MATRIX (1999). Don't dismiss this as "just the one before THE MATRIX" like we did for too long. This would be the best film in most other filmmaker's careers.
