On this episode of Life With Friends, I talk to Tony, a friend of mine with many experiences within the broader Melbourne community as an aspiring urban planner. Here we talk about what exactly is urban planning, what it takes to turn urban plans into action, how to debunk certain stereotypes within each suburb or of any city, and why can't every suburb have a large shopping centre. It is here we realise that regardless of what makes up a, city or a suburb, a community or even a trainline, what matters most is the amount of care put into making it a better place to live for everyone.

We delve into unfamiliar territory for me, as we discuss the long gruelling process of becoming a doctor. Yet despite known for the academic, mental and emotional challenges, we find solace in the long-lasting impact the "human side" of medicine has on people's lives – one that stretches far beyond what a medical prescription or a diagnostic tool can do.  Listen to the episode here.
